Perhaps it was because they hadn’t reached the depths of Qi Mountain yet, aside from encountering the lone injured wolf earlier, they didn’t face any other dangers.

At ten o’clock in the evening, Shen Tiancheng suggested stopping to rest.

Although Mu Tiantian was eager to see Bai Chenyao as soon as possible, she knew Shen Tiancheng’s arrangement was very reasonable.

Her legs almost felt like they weren’t hers, and her whole body was trembling with cold, her hand holding the flashlight was slightly shaking.

After wandering for half an hour, Shen Tiancheng found a small cave about three meters deep, which would be their resting place for the night.

Mu Tiantian’s suitcase had been left at Guide Wu’s house before entering the mountain, she carried a not-too-large backpack, keeping everything simple.

So she didn’t bring any tents which are typically needed for camping in the wild.

Shen Tiancheng somehow found dry branches and dead leaves, took out a lighter, and it took him three attempts to ignite the overly damp leaves.

As the flames gradually lit up, Mu Tiantian’s eyes brightened up as well.

Many animals fear fire, especially wolves, although it can also attract animals to lurk and attack, as long as there is firelight, animals dare not approach.

Leaning against the mountain wall, the exhausted Mu Tiantian dared not close her eyes.

After lighting the fire and ensuring it was burning robustly, Shen Tiancheng sat down by her side.

He leaned back, reached out, and pulled Mu Tiantian over, letting her lean against his chest.

"Sleep, I’ll keep watch!"

Mu Tiantian pressed her lips together, her mouth moved, but in the end, she said nothing, then closed her eyes.

Seeing Mu Tiantian obediently leaning against him, Shen Tiancheng couldn’t help but smile.

After a while, when he heard the steady and long breathing from his embrace, Shen Tiancheng lowered his head slightly, seeing that Mu Tiantian had already fallen asleep.

Perhaps it was her first time sleeping in the wild, her brow furrowed tightly, curled up in a very uneasy posture.

Shen Tiancheng’s large hand gently fell on her hair.

Seeing Mu Tiantian suddenly tense up, her pair of dark eyes suddenly opened, even her whole body stiffly and alertly looking at him, Shen Tiancheng gently laughed.

"Don’t be so nervous, with me here, how could I let wolves eat you?"

Mu Tiantian: "..."

It wasn’t a fear of Shen Tiancheng letting wolves eat her, but... indeed due to unease.

If she weren’t truly exhausted, she could barely control her eyelids, plus knowing she had to continue the journey tomorrow, she also dared not sleep.

The sudden awakening earlier was merely self-awareness in self-protection.

She closed her eyes and coldly thanked him.

Shen Tiancheng listened and said nothing, but his large hand continued to gently stroke her soft hair.

"Rest well, it will only get more dangerous ahead, if you don’t conserve your energy now, it will be impossible to move later!"

The rest of his words entered Mu Tiantian’s ears, slightly blurred.

Seeing that Mu Tiantian had taken his advice to heart, Shen Tiancheng’s lips curled up slightly, looking at the again sleeping Mu Tiantian in his arms, his hand’s stroking motion became even softer.

He turned his gaze to the fire ahead, occasionally adding a few dry sticks to the fire, his delicate and handsome face appearing quite indistinct under the firelight.

The night passed peacefully.

The next morning, Mu Tiantian woke up very early, and upon waking, immediately saw the still-burning fire in front of her, chasing away any lingering sleepiness in an instant.
