The guests at the banquet were all important figures from Falling City, including those from the military, government, and business circles. Some big names who hadn’t attended in J City were present here in Falling City. Alice Conley and Dorian Howards also made an appearance.

Alice looked at Mabel Quinn and said, "Why didn’t you bring Ivy along?"

"I was afraid it’d be too hectic and I wouldn’t be able to take care of everything. After all, there are quite a few things going on these days," Mabel replied.

"If you’re busy, I can help take care of her!" Alice regrettably said, clearly eager to experience having a daughter through Harper Kinston.

Mabel smiled, "Next time then."

"I suppose it can only be next time," Alice shrugged helplessly. "When are you heading back to J City?" Alice asked again.

"Probably going back tomorrow evening," Mabel said. But she suspected it wouldn’t be long before they’d move back to Falling City. After all, much of the Kinston Family’s business was here, and Kyle Kinston working in J City wasn’t a long-term solution.

However, now that she had finally reunited with her father, Mabel didn’t want to part again, leaving Edward Quinn alone in J City. But Edward had mentioned he could visit Falling City often; besides, Thomas Quinn could manage the Corporation, and Edward just needed to keep the big picture in check.

Although Edward wished for his daughter to inherit the Quinn Family, he wouldn’t slight his well-meaning nephew.

In fact, Mabel wasn’t very concerned about who would inherit the Quinn Family. Since she wasn’t adept at business, if Thomas could grow and strengthen the Quinn Group, it could well be entrusted to him to manage while she remained a shareholder hands-off.

Thinking of her father, Mabel couldn’t help but also think of her daughter, wondering how her father and daughter were doing now. After all, to get her daughter to sleep, at least a couple of stories would need to be read.

Meanwhile, in J City, Edward Quinn was stiffly reading fairy tales to his granddaughter. Who knew these fairy tales didn’t even exist when he was a child.

For him, it was like reading new stories. But it wasn’t enough just to read them; he had to read them to the little one, especially with the ups and downs in his voice as per her demands, with different voices and tones for each character. Edward could only lament his lack of experience in this area, wishing he’d developed more of it before.

"No, no, Grandpa, the fox’s voice sounds like the little white rabbit’s. The little white rabbit should have a very small, timid, and pitiful voice," the little one earnestly corrected him.

Edward felt a surge of exasperation, wondering if his daughter was equally particular as a child. If so, it must have been tough for Asher too. Perhaps during Mabel’s childhood, Asher read no few fairy tales to her as well.

So Edward could only lower his voice and strive to make his voice "very small, timid, and pitiful." Heaven knows, as the Quinn Family Head, he had never been associated with anything timid or pitiful. If those who knew Edward heard him mimicking a little white rabbit’s voice to tell a story to a little girl now, they’d probably be shocked senseless—even if this little girl was his granddaughter.
