Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 251
At first, Flinx thought that he would also be delving into the dungeon like his friends, but he decided otherwise. Since it was the first time in a long while that his now-level-one former dungeon-miner-slave friends would be delving into a dungeon, he thought it would be better to wait until he knew for sure that they could do it without any issues.
The good thing about the Dungeon of Mara was that an adventurer group could spend at most a day delving through a single floor. Unlike some other dungeons, where a group would have to spend several days just to complete a single floor, or others where they needed to clear several floors a day to make their time dungeon delving worthwhile, the Dungeon of Mara allowed them to take things at a more manageable pace.
That meant Flinx would know the results of his friends’ dungeon delving after several hours.
In the meantime, many of their family members looked extremely worried about their husbands, sons, or brothers going to a place filled with monsters just so they could increase their levels and earn mana stones.
Flinx overheard some of them arguing that they didn’t need to gamble with their lives and could simply start a business to earn the funds they needed to make their lives in this new world easier.
Of course, his friends argued back that the only way they could truly continue living in this magical world on easy mode was by becoming strong enough that no one would dare try to harm them. The only way for them to gain that strength was to level up their classes by delving into dungeons.
Even the businesses they wanted to open wouldn’t survive if they had no strength. Any villain in the city with enough power could demolish whatever business they opened without any difficulty.
Flinx’s friends had to explain to their family members several times that this magical world was still very much in an era where might was right. They also pointed out that the only reason they were allowed to live in the compound without any of the local underworld thugs disturbing them was that Flinx had become a well-known and powerful Diamond-rank wizard adventurer.
Flinx’s power and reputation were the umbrella under which they lived and remained protected.
As a matter of fact, Olivia admitted to the people she had befriended that the only reason her shop remained untouched by Ilioven’s seedy underbelly was that it was owned by Flinx.
Flinx realized then that his adventurer rank was what protected his friends, but there were simply too many of them, and his title as a Diamond-rank adventurer might not be enough to protect all of them from obvious dangers.
He decided that the next day, once his friends returned from dungeon delving and confirmed that they could delve with the help of his elementals without any issues, he would go to the Adventurer Guild and ask for a rank-up test to become a Platinum-rank adventurer.
Flinx thought that having such a rank might give his friends and their family members more solid protection while they were in the process of acquiring the power to protect themselves.
Once the four-person delving groups left for the dungeons, their family members returned to their towers.
Flinx decided to relax a little by reading a book while he floated on the large pond in a small boat that he had purchased from his System Shopping Site. He had simply copied the people who had done it first.
The small boat he purchased was a simple one, but he made sure it had a comfortable chair. Unlike the others, who chose boats with roofs to protect themselves from the rain that sometimes arrived unpredictably during the season, Flinx had spells that allowed him to remain dry.
Flinx asked Pondy to make sure that his tiny boat was always moving, but slowly enough that its movement wouldn’t disturb his reading.
The cold breeze of the autumn wind made Flinx shiver in delight as he read his book. The laughter of the children running around the compound, protected from harm by one of the wind elementals, and the chatter of a small group of young people walking around were music to his ears.
After some time, Olivia arrived, bringing with her a group of locals whom she had hired as part of the process of testing them to become members of the group of servants who would manage the compound.
Flinx saw that the group of would-be servants was a mixed bunch. They were young and old, male and female.
Flinx noticed that the eyes of the people following Olivia like ducklings widened when they saw the inside of the compound.
He could understand their amazement. Flinx’s friends had tried their very best to make their new home as beautiful as possible using magic.
They had succeeded simply because all of them had experience seeing such settings in movies and television shows. Some had even hired architects and designers to make sure that their new homes in this other world were as beautiful as possible for their family members.
They had to make sure that their family members wouldn’t regret following them into an alien world far from their home planet.
Christopher and Ambrose had mentioned to Flinx that rumors about the compound had started spreading. The fact that anyone lucky enough to be hired as one of the compound’s servants couldn’t keep quiet about the benefits they were receiving had made becoming a servant in the compound one of the most sought-after jobs in this part of Ilioven.
The fact was that Earthlings treated the servants the same way they would have treated servants on Earth, which was a far cry from how local servants were treated by their employers. As a result, most of the hired servants thought of Flinx and his friends as unusually lenient and generous.
Thankfully, Olivia was there to temper the Earthlings’ gullibility.
She had also started training loyal servants who would make sure that Flinx and his friends wouldn’t be taken advantage of by the locals. Those servants became the managing servants, such as the head cooks and butlers.
Flinx returned to his reading and only stopped when noon arrived.
Instead of returning to his tower, he set up camp in an empty area beside Pondy. Sooner or later, however, he was joined by a lot of people, and an impromptu barbecue began.
Flinx didn’t even have to purchase anything from his System Shopping Site because the servants immediately gathered all the ingredients that his friends’ family members requested.
They didn’t even have to worry about grilling the meat or cooking anything because the servants soon took over all the work.
It was as if the servants were afraid that they would suddenly be considered useless.
Soon, despite the cold temperature, some people even started swimming in the pond. Nobody was afraid because Pondy and Pondra made sure that the water was warm enough for swimming.
Flinx smiled when he saw that many of them seemed to have forgotten the worries they had when the dungeon-delving groups left for the dungeon earlier that day.
It meant that his friends had succeeded in making sure their family members were enjoying their stay in the compound.
Flinx wondered what would happen once the honeymoon phase was over.
Would some of them clamor to return to Earth because of homesickness?
He assumed that some of them would, but they had already discussed it. If some of them truly wanted to return to Earth, Flinx would take them back after making sure they understood that he would not bring them back to the other world.
