Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 250

Flinx could understand why most of his friends didn’t want to return to the world of the Torbal Slavers. Unlike him, they had families and would probably rather spend their time with their loved ones than pursue a revenge that was probably going to be pointless in the long run.

The problem was that Flinx couldn’t forget.

He wanted to destroy the Torbal Slavers. He wanted them annihilated to the point that they would never be able to enslave anyone again.

When he thought about that desire, he realized that it came from selfish reasons. He knew that once he successfully destroyed the Torbal Slavers, he wouldn’t care about the other evil organizations in that world. Even this world had plenty of organizations like that.

The problem was that the Torbal Slavers had hurt and damaged him so badly that he felt incapable of forming relationships with others. Flinx was simply grateful that he wasn’t alone in his desire for revenge.

Three of the former dungeon-miner slaves were like him, probably because, like him, they didn’t have families.

The problem was that he would have to wait for those three to become powerful enough to help him. George, Keith, and Peter were the ones who would join him in returning to the world of the Torbal Slavers, but right now, they needed to level up first.

In the meantime, Flinx planned to stay at the compound to make sure that everyone had established themselves before he returned to traveling.

Since his friends would be busy dungeon delving and making sure their family members were adjusting well to living in a magical world, Flinx thought the best thing he could do was increase his level further.

He was a level thirteen Wizard and a level eight Cleric, but he knew that he would need even more power to get his revenge.

He planned to delve into dungeons a few times each week. Flinx thought that would be enough to increase both his mana-stone funds and his levels.

Flinx also decided to make his delving more exciting by choosing to enter higher-level dungeons. He planned to try one of the Diamond-rank dungeons and probably one of the Platinum-rank dungeons in Ilioven.

He knew that he probably wouldn’t have any issues entering one of the few Diamond-rank dungeons in Ilioven, but he would likely need to do a lot more before he would be allowed to enter one of the three Platinum-rank dungeons in the city. Flinx would probably need to increase his adventurer rank before he could enter them.

He would try the Diamond-rank dungeons first. If he found that he could still handle them easily and needed a higher-ranking dungeon, he would jump through all the hoops the kingdom threw at him to gain access to the Platinum-rank dungeons.

While thinking about these things, Flinx sat on one of the benches near Pondy, watching the people who were using small boats to enjoy the pond.

He particularly liked watching Bernard and Penelope, who had become extremely affectionate with each other. Samuel had told Flinx that his parents had started behaving like randy teenagers and were almost always inside their bedroom. Now, they were engaged in mild public displays of affection on their tiny boat.

At least they controlled themselves enough to stick to brief kisses and holding hands. There were a lot of children running around the compound, after all.

Flinx couldn’t fault the couples among his friends’ family members. Their huge compound was extremely beautiful, and anyone would feel as if they were inside a romanticized movie setting.

Every once in a while, one could also see little bits of magic caused by the wind and water elementals. The laughter of children floating through the air made the whole place feel like some kind of wonderland.

It also helped that even though it was deep into autumn, and normal people—especially the Earthlings who weren’t locals—would be prone to sickness, they could be cured immediately by a spell. That made the place feel truly magical.

Flinx was amused when he saw Samuel running from Olivia, who had started hounding him about Penelope’s promise to her customers regarding some of Earth’s beauty products. Flinx found it funny that Penelope had simply thrown everything onto her son and focused on being lovey-dovey with her now-young husband.

He was just grateful that neither Olivia nor Samuel involved him in their business.

Flinx suddenly remembered his promise to send care packages to David, Keero, Arcios, and Violet, so he bought a huge box and filled it with a large assortment of candies and snacks. Once the box was prepared, he asked one of the servants to send it to his charges, who were staying in the Mage Guild.

After that, Flinx called some of his friends to help him set up the magic-item inventory in the meeting hall.

During the months of frequent dungeon delving needed to reach the level required for him to teleport to the world of the Torbal Slavers and rescue all the remaining dungeon-miner slaves from Earth, Flinx had managed to acquire around eight magic items.

There would have been more if he hadn’t sold the first few items he had acquired. Merlo, Emil, and Ferdinand were the ones who were available to assist him.

Flinx purchased several cabinet shelves and placed all the magic items he wasn’t using on them. Merlo took it upon himself to identify the items and write a label and description for each one placed on the shelves.

Since the meeting hall was right beside the pond, Flinx tasked Pondy with making sure that only the Earthlings, and only the adults among them, could enter the meeting hall. He couldn’t take the chance that some of the children would get hold of the items, since some of them were extremely powerful.

It took Merlo, Emil, and Ferdinand hours to identify and label all the magic items. Once they were finished, they sent a message to everyone about the available items.

Since the dungeon delve would start the next day, everyone rushed to the meeting hall, including some of his friends’ family members who had learned about the magic items. They wanted to choose which ones they planned to bring with them on their dungeon delves.

Flinx was happy that Emil was amenable to taking on the task of managing the magic items. Merlo told him that he planned to treat the magic-weapon inventory like some kind of library, where people would borrow an item, log the information in a book, and then return it after they were finished using it.

Merlo even suggested that once everyone had earned enough mana stones, they should charge people for renting the magic items. He reasoned that maintaining the items would probably require funds.

Flinx simply shrugged and told Merlo that he would leave that decision to him.

The next day, the four dungeon-delving teams left for the Dungeon of Mara. They chose to continue delving there since they already knew what to expect in the dungeon.

Even though they were all level one, they planned to start their delve on the fifth floor of the Dungeon of Mara, given that each team would be guarded by two powerful elementals. Each team was also carrying powerful magic items, and a few of those items could heal them from any injuries they might receive.

Some of the teams brought along older family members to check whether they would receive a class simply by delving into dungeons. Most of them thought it was unlikely, but the fact that they came from another world meant that the possibility wasn’t zero.
