Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch
Chapter 147: Upgrading Ignis and Thorne
The air inside the lower soul cavern beneath the Nero Trench was heavy with the smell of scorched iron and liquid brimstone.
Beneath the central basalt dais, the circular pool of the Abyssal Soul Forge turned slowly, its surface thick with glowing purple sludge that hissed whenever drops fell from the cavern ceiling.
Renan stood at the edge of the dais, his woolen coat open at the throat, revealing the twin-chambered Sovereign core beneath his breastbone.
With twenty-two thousand units of core density locked within his marrow, every breath he exhaled sent faint, silver-violet wisps of condensed mana curling through the cool air.
In the center of the cavern knelt Shadow General Ignis and Shadow Commander Thorne.
Ignis, his seven-foot obsidian armor laced with dark crimson dragon-fire, held his executioner blade flat across his knees. Beside him, the colossal ten-foot stone-and-iron frame of Thorne rested like an ancient mountain pillar, his broad granite pauldrons pitted from absorbing sub-orbital tungsten strikes during the battle against Vance.
Renan looked down at the two generals, his violet pupils flaring with quiet, absolute authority.
"The sea has given us iron and leviathan marrow," Renan spoke, his voice carrying a deep, metallic resonance that echoed through the stone vaults. "A wall of stone is useless if the gates do not burn, and a dragon is useless if it cannot move the earth."
He raised his right hand, hovering his palm over the open surface of the soul pool.

"Ignis," Renan commanded.
A stream of incandescent violet-black fire erupted from the central pool, swirling into a tight, screaming vortex around the sitting frame of the shadow dragon general.
The seven-foot executioner armor did not melt; it expanded.
The dark dragon-iron plates split along the spine, sprouting four heavy, ribbed shoulder spires that hummed with deep-sea thermal radiation. The crimson fire burning within Ignis’s visor deepened into a cold, blinding argent white, while his broadsword fused with the severed crown relic’s silver light, turning the six-foot blade into a translucent ribbon of abyssal dragon-flame.

Ignis raised his newly forged executioner blade, driving the point two inches into the basalt dais.
The stone within ten paces did not merely crack; it turned instantly into white-hot, liquid magma that bubbled silently around his boots as he bowed his head before Renan.
"My blade burns with your ocean, Sovereign," Ignis’s voice echoed through his helm, deep, layered with dragon roars, and stripped of all human hesitation.
Renan turned his gaze to Thorne.
"Thorne," Renan said, lowering his hand until his fingers touched the granite shoulder of the stone commander.
The basalt beneath Thorne’s knees groaned.
The remaining thirty tons of raw basalt and star-metal scrap submerged in the forge pool dissolved into dark, liquid stone that flowed up Thorne’s heavy legs like living mud. His ten-foot chassis swelled to fourteen feet, his broad chest plates thickening until they resembled the sloped citadel walls of Sector Zero.
Across his back, two massive stone shields forged from the deep trench floor locked into his spine, their surfaces inscribed with silver runes that pulsed in direct harmony with the tectonic shelf forty fathoms below.

Thorne slammed his broad right fist against his chest plate, the thunderous impact shaking loose hanging stalactites from the cavern ceiling.
"The seabed answers to my pulse, Sovereign," Thorne rumble-voiced through the stone floor, his sound vibrating directly through the bedrock. "No army can march across the peninsula without my permission."
Shadow Knight Arthur stepped forward from the shadow of the cavern entrance, his claymore resting loosely in his gauntleted hand.
"A formidable council, Sovereign," Arthur said, bowing his head slightly as he observed the two transformed generals. "With Ignis commanding the thermal broadsides and Thorne locking the continental shelf, our territory is an iron trap."
Renan walked between the two standing titans, stepping out onto the high stone balcony overlooking the submerged lagoon where Vanguard-Zero sat anchored.
Through his connection to the abyssal network, he could feel the vast, interconnectedweb of his shadow legion stretching across forty miles of coastal waters and fifty miles of mainland territory.
Every shadow soldier, from the simple foot skirmishers guarding the docks to the fifteen new Iron Colossus Giants waiting in the cargo holds of the Panagiotis, was now bound directly to the expanded capacity of his Tier-4 core.
Chief Quartermaster Miller ran out onto the balcony, holding a radio receiver whose speaker was squawking with frantic voice transmissions from the coastal surveillance posts.
"Sovereign!" Miller stammered, wiping sweat from his wire-rimmed spectacles. "The long-range radar posts along Sector Zero just picked up mass movements beyond the two-hundred-mile line!"
Renan’s violet eyes did not widen. "The Americans?"
"No, Sovereign," Miller reported, handing over a thermal printout. "It is the European and Asian merchant fleets. Over eighty heavy freighters, oil tankers, and bulk carriers have broken formation from the international shipping lanes. They are ignoring Geneva’s emergency warnings and steering straight for our demarcation line."
Boss Victor’s voice broke through the lapel radio clipped to Renan’s coat, crisp and sharp over the sea breeze.
"Sovereign," Victor said, the sound of a heavy diesel winch clattering in the background. "The harbor masters at Pier Four and Pier Six are begging for instructions. We have forty thousand tons of grain arriving before midnight, thirty cargo ships requesting clearance, and our current shadow dock crews are running at absolute capacity."
Renan looked down at his right hand, where thin ribbons of dark violet mana were twining between his fingers like living threads.
"The dock crews are running out of hands, Victor?" Renan asked softly into his microphone.
"They are working sixteen-hour shifts, Sovereign," Victor replied, letting out a gravelly puff of smoke. "If we don’t double the handling crews by dawn, the freighters will be backed up all the way to the fifty-mile marker."
Renan looked back at Arthur, Ignis, and Thorne standing in the shadow of the Soul Forge doorway behind him.
"Then it is time we pull the rest of the trench into the ledger," Renan whispered.
He stepped off the high stone balcony, dropping forty feet through the cool air to land upon the forward deck of Vanguard-Zero, his leather boots striking the iron plates with a sharp, echoing ring that vibrated through the deep water below.
Beneath the dreadnought’s hull, thirty fathoms deep in the dark silt of the Nero Trench, thousands of drowned bodies resting inside the sunken wrecks of the Seventh Fleet began to stir as Renan opened his arms to the sea.
