Domineering Mr. CEO and His Impudent Love
Chapter 2912 - 102: Taking the Bullet
Chapter 2912: Chapter 102: Taking the Bullet
The sudden attack disrupted the soldiers’ defensive formation. Ben Lucas’s first reaction was to grab Harrison Lucas by the back of her collar and fling her behind a thick tree.
Immediately afterward, he lowered his body and quickly moved over to his other comrades, dodging enemy gunfire while dragging a comrade who had been knocked down by the impact of a bullet to a safe location.
The other soldiers behind him immediately took up their guns and returned fire.
Being flung to the tree, Harrison Lucas almost became disoriented. Although her head was still spinning, her first instinct was to take out her signal device to call for support.
Even though Ben Lucas’s sudden action had scrambled her brain, her keen hearing remained intact. Harrison Lucas could clearly discern that the enemy’s firepower and numbers were far above those of their small squad.
She quickly opened her communicator while observing the hillside from behind the tree.
Even with only sparse sunlight filtering through the leaves, in the flashes of light, she sharply noticed the enemy’s firepower deployment.
Besides the border militants’ most commonly used AK-type assault rifles, there were also various RPG hand-held rocket launchers of different lengths.
Yet, these weren’t the most terrifying. What made Harrison Lucas involuntarily gasp was that she had, in that instant, caught a glint of cold light.
It was an inadequately concealed scope, whose glint, caught in the dappled light of the shadowy trees, reflected a beam of sunlight.
The enemy even had a sniper rifle. They were definitely prepared!
"Watch out—" Harrison Lucas’s sharp eyes caught the position of the gun barrel and saw that the enemy had already aimed at Ben Lucas, who was rescuing a comrade. She cried out as she lunged forward.
"Pfft—" The bullet pierced through the bulletproof vest, striking directly into Harrison Lucas’s shoulder.
When Ben Lucas heard Harrison Lucas’s call, before he could react, he saw his beloved ’little boyfriend’ suddenly dart out from the side, intercepting a bullet coming from uphill.
"Careful... there’s... a sniper rifle..." Harrison Lucas collapsed in front of Ben Lucas, spitting out her final words.
It felt like all the strength had been drained from her body, with her left arm feeling frighteningly heavy, as if filled with lead, making it impossible to lift, while the pain in her shoulder blade was excruciating.
Ben Lucas’s deep, dark pupils were tightly fixed on Harrison Lucas’s face, which was gradually losing color. Everything happened so quickly that he couldn’t react in time.
He could only helplessly watch as Harrison Lucas shielded him from that deadly blow, watching ’him’ fall in front of him, unable to do anything.
"Major General, quickly find cover..."
"Major General, we can’t directly clash with them anymore; we should retreat first..."
Before his teammate could finish speaking, they saw a flash of brutal resolve pass through the man’s originally dark and cold pupils, as if a beast within was about to be released, accompanied by a fiery rage.
Ben Lucas casually grabbed an assault rifle, his narrow dark pupils filled with sharpness, aiming toward where that bullet had come from.
Ben Lucas was able to rise to his position today because everyone praised his outstanding command abilities and strategic foresight as a perfect military talent.
Yet, everyone forgot that before becoming a tactical genius, he was first the most exceptional elite-level soldier among the young generation both in the military academy and the military leadership.
