Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4549: Owing To The Favor

Chapter 4549: Owing To The Favor

Lucian blinked at the gruesome scene before him while Davis dropped his hand, a vortex of black-golden obliteration energy revolving around his finger.

"My bad. I should’ve seen it coming, but it got a thick layer of soul flames that restricted my ability to read its emotions properly. I thought it was excited at the prospect of being given a chance to live, but to think it was murderous intent upon seeing a prey instead."

Davis shook his head.

He walked amidst the fiery wisps of flame essence of the Crimson Sun Devourer Spirit, collecting them with his soul force before picking up its spirit core.

It was a seven-centimeter-long rhombus-shaped crimson crystal, exuding an enormous amount of sizzling flame energy.

Davis touched it, feeling the terrifying heat. He had no doubt that anyone in the Immortal Emperor Stage who tried to absorb it would be burned from the inside out, considering this core’s power was incredibly high.

It retained the long years of nurturing the spirit that had gone through in this Shard Region. Although he couldn’t spot any fire elemental area here, he didn’t think it was strange for some part of this Shard Region to be full of fire due to the existence of storms, lightning, and thunder.

This made Davis wonder if it was better to kill spirits and take their cores away from here, since that would allow the cultivators to get the most benefits.

After all, once a spirit leaves its home region, its extravagant prowess starts dropping. They could only regain such a high level of prowess if they encountered a similar environment again.

Otherwise, they would be suppressed. It is theorized that they would lose their extravagant prowess upon exiting the Elemental Dimension, so to capture them alive and bring them back was less beneficial than killing them and harvesting their essence and spirit core. It was rumoured that their spirit core might degrade with time if the spirits didn’t consume elemental energy of their own grade, finally leading to a loss in prowess.

Therefore, the majority of the human race decided to kill the spirits and make wealth rather than tame them.

Davis inspected its remains before handing them over to Lucian.

"Become stronger, my child. The Third Layer can never contain you."

Lucian nodded with a firm look on his face.

Davis turned to look at Fairy Thunderblaze, "My apologies. I had to kill your prisoner since it targeted my son Lucian, thinking it could take him hostage or even kill him to teach us, teach me a lesson. It didn’t seem like it appreciated being saved, full of hate and rancor."

"..."

Fairy Thunderblaze was still reeling from the sense of defeat. She had worked very hard, never resting a single day, yet she couldn’t even stand at the foot of his summit.

She felt disheartened.

Nevertheless, she came out of her reverie when Davis mentioned hate and rancor.

"I did kill what appeared to be another Crimson Sun Devourer Spirit back when I stole the Thunderfire Quintessence Seed from their sacred land. These three spirits shared that area, but they definitely weren’t living in harmony, although they did unite when I stole their treasure. They’re certainly... human."

Fairy Thunderblaze lifted her hand up to her face and curled her fingers inwardly, appearing amused.

Davis chuckled, "When tribes form, certain traits are shared between all races, of which kinship with neighbors and hostility against outsiders is the most prominent."

"Indeed. Quite knowledgeable. I presume you know how to also use their unity and diversity to their advantage."

"A bit..." Davis’s lips curled, "Now if you could name your price."

"You ruined my prisoner before we even finished the transaction. I suppose three High-Level Primarch Grade resources will do."

"Mid-Level."

"Deal."

Davis wryly smiled. Her tone was as though she really didn’t care about what he offered and just wanted him to make a loss, no matter how small it may be.

He shook his head, gesturing at Isabella.

Isabella nodded and went towards Fairy Thunderblaze. However, she also took Celestia with her, introducing her.

"This is my child, Celestia Davis. How would you measure her?"

"Oh?"

Fairy Thunderblaze’s brows raised as she gazed at Celestia.

Celestia blinked. Why was she brought before this woman, whom she didn’t have any relation to?

"Not bad." Fairy Thunderblaze nodded, "With the resources you people possess, I suppose she has achieved more than what she was expected of."

"Indeed. She hasn’t been given the realm pill yet, or she would be even more powerful."

Isabella spoke in a proud tone.

Fairy Thunderblaze’s brows raised in shock. She gave a second look at Celestia, faintly feeling the blood of an Imperial Five-Clawed Dragon. She could even feel the King-Tier undulations from her, which meant she still had room to improve, yet her prowess already seemed to match her when she had swindled Davis of his annihilative lightning and annihilative flames.

If she remembered correctly, this little girl was born no more than twelve years ago and yet...

Fairy Thunderblaze exhaled, turning to look ahead and saw a few more faces that she had no recollection of, yet they were all familiar faces resembling Davis, Evelynn, and Shirley.

Her heart shook, wondering just how many children he had sired and how monstrous they had grown up into. Her gaze fell on Azariel as she felt him to be the most powerful of them all, but as she gazed at Lucian, she found a peculiar sensation, a sensation of familiar enmity.

She had a remembrance of this sensation, one where she instinctively felt that the other party was a Divergent, but wasn’t sure enough, since it was just a feeling.

"Don’t worry. You’re stronger than me. That’s for sure."

Sensing her strange gaze, Lucian wryly smiled as he shook his hands.

"Innately arrogant yet want to hide it just like your father? Be more willful and daring."

Fairy Thunderblaze laughed lightly, "The mark of a true apex cultivator, especially a man, is to be more dominating. I expect more from you, his sons, to bring chaos and rule parts of the universe sooner or later, so I can benefit from it in various ways."

Lucian blinked as he didn’t know what to say. After all, he had no such ambition.

"Please spare me..." Lucian chuckled, "I have heard of your feats, the only woman to trap my father and extort him, yet still manage to live. You’re great... I respect you."

He gave her a thumbs-up.

"Whose side are you on?" Davis blinked at his son.

"I- I’m on the side that doesn’t go after many partners."

Lucian shrugged as he looked away, his expression rebellious as though he was finally going against his father.

Davis nearly rolled his eyes. He looked forward to the day when Lucian would end up with a second wife so he could make fun of him to death.

Fairy Thunderblaze couldn’t help but laugh silently when she suddenly caught herself having fun with them. Instantly, her expression went cold.

"Oh well, I lost. It’s my defeat once again, so I won’t bother myself with asking for a rematch. Right now, I’m going to use one small favor to tag along with you to the Shard Continent. You can’t refuse."

Her voice echoed in a commanding and majestic tone befitting that of a queen.

Davis’s brows narrowed.

He still owed her one small favor, one big favor, and one huge favor. The first two favors were from trading the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, and the last one was for saving Evelynn and bringing her back in one piece, which was irreplaceable for him. If she wanted him to do something potentially dangerous to his entire family, he might do it after trying to refuse many times.

That was how much he valued that favor.

Still, his expression was casual, "That’s a small favor? You are aware that there are Primarch-level existences there, right? It wouldn’t be strange even if we all met our end there. Heck, Myria and I won’t die but the others will."

"You certainly won’t die, and neither will the others. I won’t die either. I’m sure that Mystic Diviner girl there will make sure everyone survives."

Fairy Thunderblaze’s gaze flashed as she stared at Tia. She acknowledged her since she created a formation that could even hide heaven’s wrath during a tribulation, disallowing people outside the region from figuring out that there was a Destruction Tribulation or an Annihilative Tribulation going on.

She had yet to use that formation, but she had witnessed its formidable and concealing nature.

"Whether I will use Tia or not remains to be decided since I don’t want her to be harmed. Regardless, I will accept your request."

"It was a demand." Fairy Thunderblaze retorted.

"It’s a request." Davis doubled down.

"..."

"..."

The two of them stared at each other, appearing as though they refused to budge on the nature of their settlement before he opened his mouth.

"You can tag along, but don’t try to do anything foolish or funny. I will not hesitate to abandon you or even retaliate if necessary."

Fairy Thunderblaze’s lips curled, "There’s no need to be so wary of me. This time around- I don’t think I can play with my wits alone. Otherwise, I would’ve long entered the Shard Continent. Since Isabella also refused to enter with me, I had no choice but to wait for you to arrive."

Davis raised his brows in surprise before he turned to look at Isabella, who loves adventuring just as much as Shirley did, but is even braver and bolder.

Isabella shook her head, "I know you would hate it if I went there and be worried to death. Shirley and the others also promised not to head there without you. It isn’t exclusive of the Shard Continent since we also refrained from entering all time-attributed Shard Regions."

"Excellent."
