Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4522: A Spatial Sea

Chapter 4522: A Spatial Sea

As Davis and the others ventured deeper into the Shard Region, the very fabric of space began to take on surreal, dreamlike qualities.

The skies above shimmered not with clouds, but with arcs of refracted light, like fractures in a mirror bleeding starlight. Patches of the sky bent and curled inward, revealing distant scenes, some of which showed reflections of the landscape from impossible angles, while others briefly displayed different islands altogether, as though space itself was being peeled and stitched together from multiple areas.

It might be possible for them to go from one place to another quickly.

Regardless, they followed the conventional pathway of walking through the terrain.

Beneath them, plenty of islands floated freely, spinning slowly in place. Some were jagged like shattered obsidian blades, their edges glowing faintly with violet spatial runes. Others were smooth and circular, appearing like ancient altars or platforms, their surfaces etched with concentric rings that pulsed softly as though they resonated with the group’s presence.

It didn’t take them much to understand that these were structures made by spatial spirits. As for whether they were still present or not, they felt like the answer was negative. Most places were just abandoned.

It was possible that the islands that actually hosted the living spirits of this Shard Region could be hidden. After all, spatial spirits would know how to conceal themselves for the most part. Even if they don’t, they seemed to have knowledge of formations, so they could construct structures pertaining to concealment by themselves.

Before entering, Davis thought there would only be wild spirits, but it turned out that spirit tribes also existed here.

He wondered if he would spot a Heaven-Tier Spirit Tribe in this Shard Region. After all, since it was a High-Level Shard Region, the chances of Heaven-Tier Spirits forming should also be plenty.

"You want to try activating those monoliths?"

Ralaza Heavenshade pointed at a ruined island and giggled as she eyed Davis.

Davis turned to look.

Floating monoliths drifted lazily through the skies of that island. They were the size of mountains.

"Who knows where they lead to?" Davis shrugged.

"Let me try divining it."

Stella flew towards the edge of the island and focused her gaze on the monolith on the other island. She pulled out a few materials and burned incense, bringing a strange atmosphere over them.

Davis frowned.

He could sense some incorporeal entities appear within his line of sight that his karmic eyes were instinctively trying to activate. They were like ghosts appearing at the corner of the house, giving him the feeling of danger, yet not doing anything worthwhile, but he guessed they were a part of the backlash that could flow back in case Tia failed in her divination by messing up.

Soon, Tia uttered some nonsense, but only she knew she was still speaking Sky Word Language. Only, her words were being concealed or encrypted by another dimension, so no one else could tell what she was saying.

"There is luck to be had- beneficial resources to be found- danger that can be avoided- heaven and earth will cleave through the veil to reveal thy grace~"’

She repeated these phrases three times and shook the staff in her hand like a shaman before pointing it at the monoliths on that island.

The heaven and earth momentarily froze, time standing still.

However, that was nothing but a momentary illusion. Time passed as usual. In the third second, Tia turned back and extended her tongue out.

"The danger is extremely high, and there are no worthwhile resources to be found, meaning that it should be a deathtrap."

"You... You’re right."

Davis nodded with a wry smile, "The environment is one of the things we should be careful about the most here. One misstep and you can find yourself shredded to a mincemeat or even worse, trapped for an eternity..."

He turned to look at Ralaza Heavenshade, causing her to look away and whistle as though this had nothing to do with her.

However, the Heavenshades were quite shaken.

To divine in the Elemental Dimension was not a simple task. The blonde-haired woman who divined revealed her tongue as though it was an easy matter, and she was unlucky that she didn’t find resources but most wouldn’t live to tell the tale, much less be unharmed.

She looked as fine as she was before- playful yet aware of the surroundings, like she kept everything within her field of view.

’This must be the rumored Mystic Diviner of the Davis Family who easily conceals their hideout...’ They thought.

It didn’t seem like the Davis Family was no longer trying to hide it.

Did that mean that they were now confident in facing everything that came their way?

They felt it was most likely the case.

"Watch out!"

Davis threw his hand to the side.

A chameleon-shaped spirit abruptly jumped out of the ground and leaped toward Fairy Xiu Juili. However, Davis was faster than it. He easily dismembered it as his annihilative heavenly lightning pierced through it like it was tofu before evaporating it into thin air.

"A Myriad Colors Verdant Lizard Wisp, ranked twelfth in the Heaven-Tier Wood Elemental Charts. Be careful. It isn’t like space-attributed lifeforms are the only lifeforms that could be present here. Many others could be migrating as well or simply found a sweet spot for them, like in this swamp."

Davis received the soul essence of the wisp. Evidently, it had formed a consciousness, but since it attacked Fairy Xiu Juili with the intent to kill, he didn’t hesitate to be quick. Otherwise, it was difficult to tell what would have happened since the Myria Colors Verdant Lizard Wisp is a master of concealment. It might’ve swallowed Fairy Xiu Juili and run away.

Naturally, Fairy Xiu Juili was also aware of this fact. She couldn’t help but glance at Davis with a thankful gaze.

Although she was capable of defending herself, this wisp also had paralyzing properties. A prolonged battle with someone who could hide would very well work against her.

Davis nodded.

They then continued on and finally arrived at a location where there was a sea. It was a blood sea that was actually slightly purple in color as though it was poisoned, but Davis and the others could tell in an instant it belonged to the Space Swallowing Heavenly Whale.

They once again were having a hard time imagining how big it truly was, even though they understood in their heads.

Davis contemplated using karmic threads to find Azariel and the others. It should be simple, but he didn’t think it was good to open the Pandora’s box here, as he would also see many other things.

It wasn’t like Tia was seeing those karmic threads. She was only making the water ripple and garnering information from it while he was practically seeing through the glass. The two couldn’t be compared in the same line.

These mysterious entities also weren’t going anywhere since Tia constantly divined a way to other galaxies, but also divined for riches. With her Karmic Guardian Physique, she really didn’t care for backlash unless she herself messed up with the incantation and the process.

"Look~" Suddenly, Eterna pointed her hand towards the distance.

On the other side of this giant blood sea, there was a group of six spirits across the reef harvesting blood essence from this sea. Due to the impurity of the injured blood, they were only going to waste time and collect a smaller amount of blood essence, but they still had the patience to do so for some reason.

Davis and the others were first astonished at the fact that these spirits were

"Heaven-Tier Spirits... and they’re all Stellar Empyrean Gatecaller Spirits." Davis raised his brows.

He turned to look at Myria and Tia, their eyes having the same excitement. Their hearts nearly skipped a beat. Evelynn wanted to ask what it was, as she wasn’t up to date about all the spirits.

"Are they all from the True Void Galaxy?" Ralaza Heavenshade asked, her tone unsure.

"No, they’re most likely aboriginals of this Shard Region. I’m going to try to recruit them."

"Be careful." Myria nodded, "Once they spot you, it will be very difficult for us to catch them since they are capable of making stable gates for long-distance travel without breaking a single sweat. Since they lived here, this Shard Region might not necessarily suppress them."

Davis had just taken a step forward when they-

*Bzzz~*

-opened a gate and quickly left, not staying.

"..."

Davis was speechless.

He lost track of them easily. His soul sense couldn’t fly out long distances due to the natural suppression the Shard Region had on every lifeform. Spirit abilities were special. The Shard Region necessarily didn’t restrict the special abilities here, making him fume, but he was also glad since he wanted a secret ingredient like that to make home defense and offense much more responsive.

If he had the help of the Stellar Empyrean Gatecaller Spirits, Stella might be able to create even more stable and powerful gates that disallows enemies to invade, essentially sealing the only weakness she had in a realm, the entrance.

They were ranked third in Heaven-Tier Space Elemental Charts for a reason.

Davis clenched his fist, "I must have them. Sooner or later, we’re bound to meet again if I’m still here."

He spoke in an annoyed tone before flicking his sleeves and trying to search for clues regarding the whereabouts of Azariel and Viridia.

Before he knew it, Rath Heavenshade had already gathered some tracks leading to them.
