Chapter 4523: Twin Assassins
Chapter 4523: Twin Assassins
"There... there’s traces of poison."
Rath Heavenshade reported. He found it to the north of the blood sea while they came from the west.
’It’s a trap...’
Davis and the others could instantly tell. They have always taught their children not to leave any traces of a battle if they wanted to hide their tracks or use the tracks to misguide their pursuers.
For them to have left a minute strand of poison on the ground as though they had missed erasing it was most likely a strategy to lure prey.
Nonetheless, they continued to follow Rath Heavenshade, who paved the way.
There was plenty of bloodshed in their path, although there was no sign of corpses. They guessed these corpses were taken away or that the pursuers had managed to escape.
As Rath Heavenshade followed the traces of poison for a few hours, he stopped them, saying something was not right.
He also seemed to have recognized that they were being lured in.
However, their son and daughter were even more cunning.
They gazed at the mountains of Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals with excitement, knowing that they would be able to find Vein Fragments and even a few Vein Cores inside. Ralaza Heavenshade even jumped.
"Woah! It’s a Spatial-Attributed Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Mine!" Ralaza Heavenshade yelled out in joy.
They were more joyful over finding this mine than all those Primarch Grade Treasures. After all, as they reach the Empyrean Stage or the Autarch Stage, Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals would be more useful to increase their cultivation than Primarch Grade resources that they would find difficult to absorb.
Just hiring an alchemist or other types of experts to condense and refine these treasures will cost them a fortune. They would have to share treasures or pay a high cost. As supreme geniuses, they didn’t like sharing at all with their family, much less alchemists from other powers. Therefore, these kinds of resources made sure that they didn’t have to share their hard-earned Primarch Grade resources.
Moreover, Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Vein Fragments and Vein Cores were even helpful to Exalts and Primarchs. To get even one Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Vein Fragment, even an Empyrean might need to sell themselves.
One could not see them in the Upper Realms unless they were in the upper echelons. Even in the Greater Realms, if they were not part of a major power, they could forget about seeing one in their lifetime. That’s how rare they were.
"Go ahead."
The Heavenshades looked at Davis, seeking his opinion on whether they could take the resources here.
Seeing him be graceful and generous, their opinion improved even more.
Taking out top-quality pickaxes, they began to mine, searching their way to the Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Vein Core. It wasn’t even ten minutes into their mining when suddenly, a black-robed hooded person practically emerged from the reflective surface of the massive mountain of crystal cores.
Six scythes sprouted from their back, their target: Ralaza Heavenshade.
Ralaza Heavenshade’s pickaxe was stuck on the crystal mine at that moment. However, she saw it coming, her pupils dilating into tiny slits as she let go of the pickaxe and jumped back. However, her body strangely refused to move.
The six scythes came at her swinging like a reaper’s blade, two targeted the sides of her neck, two targeted the arms, and another two looked to cleave her legs.
Her scalp turned numb, and she unleashed her dragon soul.
Surprisingly,
However, it was too late.
*Rip!~~~*
Ralaza Heavenshade’s neck flew. Her arms and legs were cut off, but the scythes didn’t stop, cleaving her body into multiple parts.
The black-robed hooded man came out of the crystal mine and shattered a talisman, re-entering concealment after collecting her corpse.
"Aiya, you killed poor Ralaza Heavenshade just like that. How ruthless..."
The black-robed, hooded person trembled heavily at that voice, his entire being abruptly experiencing a jolt. He hunched immediately and looked around like a startled prey.
"If only you could see through the fact that you miscalculated the distance..."
That voice echoed in the skies once again.
The black-robed hooded person turned to look at where Ralaza Heavenshade’s blood was, but it was gone, disappearing as though it never existed.
"...!"
He instantly became wary. The environment around him shuddered, and he could now see Ralaza Heavenshade clutching her neck with a startled yet furious expression on her face.
She couldn’t believe that she was beheaded just like that. No, she believed that she was beheaded until the illusion came off and found herself standing nearly a hundred meters away from the black-robed hooded person.
’Spatial and illusion energy...’
This meant that if the attack had happened any closer, like she had seen in the illusion, she really would’ve died.
Ralaza Heavenshade’s expression exploded into one of anger. Her Emperor-Tier aura burst and soared into the air, trying to stop him.
She was about to launch herself at the assassin when Davis appeared in the air, his hand grabbing her shoulder.
"Calm down, you’re not a match for him."
His soul transmission fell on her ears, causing her to come to a stop. She was startled.
How come the Divine Emperor of Death’s voice was sure of that? His tone of voice was quite confident, even carrying a hint of pride.
Just as she wondered what was going on, she saw his expression turn wrathful.
*Whoosh!~*
Davis rushed to the black-robed man, who looked frozen in place. Just as Davis appeared near him, the black-robed person chose to attack, taking out a sword to strike.
At the same time, six scythes moved out like spears, ripping through space in a stabbing motion against Davis
Davis dodged as his figure flickered to the side. With a spin, his leg crossed through space to kick the black-person’s face on the other side, causing them to jolt from the ground, barely dodging.
However, a hand loomed over him from nowhere, abruptly catching the hem of his robe and flipping him above before smashing him right over the Transcendent Crystal Mine in one fell swoop.
The black-robed person had torn the outer black robe using the sharpness of their spider-bone scythes. However, the outer and inner clothes were stuck somehow as a strange force held them together.
*Bang!*
That area of the mine shattered into fine crystals that could be called Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals.
Davis kept the assassin suppressed right then and there.
"You dare strike to kill my ally? You didn’t even bother to learn the relationship we share with other powers?"
"What? I have read the external affairs department’s records about the supreme geniuses, but nothing said that we’re friendly with any of them. Don’t kid me!"
"Brat, relationships with powers are like that. As long as they’re not enemies, you cannot outright kill them."
"Are you blind? They came for my life, blinded by greed. I have met many of them now!"
"..."
Davis was momentarily taken aback before he nodded.
"I see. You were not considered an Anarchic Divergent, so people don’t hesitate to come after you, unlike me, who is avoided like I’m the plague. Still, not everyone is after your life, especially not Ralaza Heavenshade, who only traced you because I asked them to. You have killed someone who didn’t want to battle you."
"Can’t be bothered to check if they have bad intentions against me when I don’t have Heart Intent or the power to overwhelm supreme geniuses, considering some of them are already at my prowess..."
The black-robed person removed his mask and finally revealed his face, his expression full of exhaustion.
"Let me go, father."
"..."
Ralaza Heavenshade was stunned by their relentless exchange, but she was even more flabbergasted by the black-robed assassin calling Davis his father.
"You..." She couldn’t get her words out as though they were stuck in her throat.
"Brat," Davis’s expression surged with anger, "Fine, I agree with you. But not only are you refusing to kneel for deserting the sanctuary, but you have also kidnapped your little twin sister and made her follow you in your dangerous journey."
His aura soared into the skies, radiating furious waves of undulations that spread across these lands.
In the other areas, everyone froze.
Evelynn’s forehead shone with a blue light, her Sealing Hex targeted at a black-robed assassin who turned out to be Viridia.
By her side was Rath Heavenshade, who lost his arm, his forehead momentarily away from being pierced to death by the upper spider-bone scythes.
"Bad girl. It’s time for you to return home."
"..."
Viridia resisted but the moment her father aura eclipsed even the spatial atmosphere, she froze.
Myria possessed three darkness whips that stretched out hundreds of meters and wrapped around three figures, each one radiating a tremendous aura that was one with the heaven and earth.
Their aura shone with a sacred light. Combined with the crown-like halo over their heads and six long wings behind them, they appeared like angelic entities who had descended from the true heavens.
"You...!"
"Who are you!?"
