Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 771: The Story About Himself in the Book
Without any hesitation.
Accompanied by a flash of silver light illuminating the corridor, Lynn's clothes loosened with a rustle and fell to the ground, and a black cat transformed from Lynn nimbly leaped out from the pile of clothes in an instant.
It pounced directly onto the door handle.
Using its sharp claws, it deftly pried open the lock in a few quick motions, pulled open a narrow gap, and then swiftly slipped through the crack.
This was an essential step for meeting 002, and only in cat form could he cater to its preferences, just like the previous times, offering up his "body" in exchange for powerful assistance.
Carrying the books on his back, he had barely stepped inside.
Lynn immediately spotted the quill pen still furiously scribbling away at the quiet desk beside the bookshelf.
It was exactly the same as when he had visited last time, with no changes whatsoever. The only difference was that several thick books had clearly been added to the bookshelf, likely written during his absence.
"I'm here to return the books, meow~"
Without any hesitation, Lynn leaped onto the desk, then used his claws to scratch out his words on the surface, and pointed one claw at the thick books neatly stacked on the floor, swishing his tail.Lynn in cat form really did look exceptionally well-behaved!
The writing quill suddenly paused.
Then the System notification echoed in Lynn's ears.
[Ding! You have successfully returned all books within the designated deadline. 002, the Quill That Must Write Something,'s Affinity toward you +21]
[Ding! The borrowed "Book That Kills You If You Read It" has suffered significant damage and soiling. The quill's Affinity toward you -5]
As the notifications rang in his ears.
Lynn immediately felt an invisible hand pick him up, suspend him in the air, and place him on a chair, where someone began stroking him against the grain of his fur, ruffling him all over.
And the books he had placed on the floor also seemed to float up under the influence of an invisible force, automatically arranging themselves neatly on the bookshelf.
He then immediately saw the quill begin writing on a sheet of paper on the desk.
[The runaway big black cat has quietly returned again. The big black cat's adventure story also seems to have come to an end. It defeated a terrifying giant lizard, wrecked a big fish, bullied a little sapling, and finally agilely chased off a huge octopus. Although the story was full of twists and narrow escapes, the big black cat ultimately won without any surprises in the end.]
Watching the words the quill wrote in that book, Lynn's heart skipped a beat.
He quickly struggled free from that invisible hand.
Leaping onto the desk in one bound.
Then he extended his claws and frantically flipped through the first few pages of the book, immediately spotting densely packed tiny text and dried ink stains.
And every few pages, vivid illustrations were also drawn.
Black cat battling giant lizard, JPG.
Black cat bullying little sapling, JPG.
And so on.
Rapidly flipping through the pages, the more Lynn read, the more his fur stood on end, a chill creeping down his spine.
Because he immediately realized that all the stories in the book the quill was currently writing were almost exact replicas of his experiences in the Cursed City.
This...
What the hell...
He knew very well how terrifying this containment entity was, because Sir Aiwen had said that it was a bizarre tale-class fallen object that even he didn't fully understand, some kind of existence that had fallen from the Shattered World. Although it wasn't aggressive, the ability it possessed had even been suspected to potentially involve a higher level of...
Rules.
And looking at those stories depicted in the book, Lynn shuddered all over, the more he thought about it, the more terrified he became.
He didn't know how it had learned about his experiences in the Cursed City. Perhaps for an existence like this, it wasn't anything particularly difficult. But what was truly terrifying was: did it write this book first and then his experiences happened, or did his experiences happen first and then it wrote this book afterward?
If it was the latter, then it was merely some kind of record, and that was nothing much.
But if it was the former, then Lynn felt a chill emanating from the depths of his soul.
"You recorded everything I did in the Cursed City?"
Lynn gravely scratched that sentence onto the desk with his claws.
But the quill didn't answer his question. Instead, it turned to a new page and unhurriedly began writing again.
[The big black cat is very sensitive and doesn't seem to like the story the quill wrote about him. He fidgets with his paws anxiously and doesn't beg for small dried fish like before. He feels the quill is teasing him, but he doesn't extend his claws to scratch the quill, because the big black cat still wants the quill to write something to resolve his bird-man friend's crisis.]
Lynn's fur stood on end, and he wanted to say something more, but the quill showed no sign of stopping.
It continued scribbling away.
[But this time, the kind quill chose not to help him. Although the big black cat is very cute and is also the quill's favorite house cat, his behavior of carving random words on the quill's only desk still displeased the quill greatly. Because he could obviously talk, but he just wouldn't, preferring to carve instead.]
Lynn was stunned.
Then, his fur bristling as he arched his back in indignation, he blurted out angrily:
"Which cat have you ever seen that can talk? Even if I'm cosplaying, I need to stay in character, alright! I'm clearly making an effort to enhance the immersion and sense of presence here!"
Smack—
Lynn pressed a firm plum blossom paw print onto its paper.
The quill didn't stop writing. Immediately after, it continued writing behind that paw print.
[The big black cat finally spoke human words and made a series of meaningless justifications for his behavior. But there was still no possibility of getting the quill to help him. The big black cat also very much understood the quill's difficulties. After thinking it over, he jumped off the desk, picked up the small dried fish the quill had placed in the corner, and went back meowing, closing the door behind him.]
Lynn stared wide-eyed, then shook his head with a huff and said:
"Fine then. If you don't want to help, I'll head back first. Sorry for disturbing you."
With that.
He leaped off the desk in one bound, thinking as he walked toward the door, opened his mouth to pick up a dried fish from the corner, swished his tail, and walked out, closing the door behind him again.
In the corridor, Lynn, holding the small dried fish in his mouth, closed his eyes and said:
"Let's go, Zuo Zuo. We'll think of other ways. We really shouldn't have gone to ask..."
Buzz—
Lynn instantly froze, his fur standing on end.
[Ding! Your SAN -5]
Once again, just like before, he felt that terrifying ability of the quill.
Even while watching it directly, even with all his attention focused, he still couldn't avoid doing what was written in its book. In fact, before he had even finished following its written script, he hadn't even realized his own behavior had become abnormal.
Shaking his head violently, Lynn turned around in frustration, then quickly pushed open the door and darted back inside in a flash.
Leaping back onto the desk.
Lynn stared at the quill and said: "Stop teasing me, Writer Sister. This time I genuinely have something important to ask of you. And judging by the situation, you should already know that the evil personality inside the Matriarch's body has awakened. If we don't contain it soon, the entire city will be completely destroyed by her Cataclysm!"
[The big black cat continues to make unremitting efforts to persuade the quill.]
