[FROLO]

Milan stood there, not sure what she was supposed to do.

She knew this man never bluffed and that he believed what he believed. She knew that the barbarian of Frolo could decide she was useless, eliminate her, then find ways to make the society accept that reality without question.

She was not stupid.

So, she just stared because this was one that even she was smart enough to understand.

She was very aware that even Yaroslav wouldn’t be able to help her out of it. Not when Yaroslav was that pissed, but at the same time, if they had gotten to the point of summoning her, Milan knew she was done for.

Perhaps she had to write her will soon enough, no?

’They can’t kill me. I’m the mother of their first grandchild,’ Milan said to herself, like that was supposed to make her relax. Yet it did nothing to make her feel any better about all this.

If anything, the fact that Sergei insisted on calling Katya his son-in-law was the worst stab to Milan’s heart. Because it was just the proof she needed to know that this man never accepted him. Ever. That everything was just optics.

Now she couldn’t even escape because there was no telling who was a good person downstairs, sir. And the Moskowskys would hunt him to the ends of the world if she dared to run with Erika. There was really no way out for her.

Yet she should have picked up the signs when Sergei called Yaroslav her ’baby daddy’ instead of husband, like Yaro had claimed on the intercom.

"I went after your son-in-law?" Milan asked, forcing a humorless laugh.

"Ah, it looks like you need a refresher. Have a seat, child," Sergei said, and Milan stared at him, determined not to follow, but Yaroslav simply grabbed Milan by the arm and sat her down on the couch he was on.

The same one where the table in front of them had the papers Yaros was looking at. The evidence of the money that had been channeled to make Katya into something else altogether.

"For starters, just because you had a baby for Yaroslav doesn’t mean you are his wife. Secondly, the legal husband and son-in-law is the Moskowsky chairman. So, get your shit straight.

"Thirdly, just because your son wasn’t opposed to letting the world know that you fucked each other doesn’t mean I’ll let you try to ruin the reputation of the family. Fourth, no one goes after Chairman Gamov other than me. No one.

"So now, let’s get to the part where you tell me why the fuck you used Moskowsky’s resources to threaten my son-in-law, hmm?" Sergei said, and Milan stared like the man was insane.

Then again, Sergei had always been insane.

It was something that Milan should not have forgotten, yet she had. Or maybe she thought that by being the mother of the heiress, she was the most protected. But who could explain to her that she was not as important as she thought herself to be?

"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Milan denied.

Sergei let out a dark, humorless laugh.

"Yaroslav..." Sergei said, and Yaroslav looked at Milan as if to make the woman understand.

"This is the card I gave you. The transactions began before your delivery due date. And don’t even think of denying that it wasn’t you. The IP address was traced to this house.

"Drop the bullshit and tell us why you would send trolls after Katya," Yaroslav said, and Milan sighed.

She didn’t even look apologetic that she was caught.

In fact, she just straightened up like she was finally done pulling the unknowing woman act. Perhaps that was for her sake, or maybe it was because she wasn’t in the mood to be controlled by anyone.

Much less a Moskowsky.

"What they said was true, was it not? You yourself chose me because I could give you an heir. I don’t see what’s so wrong in finding the barren omega that he needed to remember his slice, no?" Milan said so casually.

It was like Katya hadn’t suffered because of her actions. Like Sergei hadn’t almost lost Katya because of this woman.

Oh, but Sergei held back the urge to growl at the woman because this, this was different territory. At different stages, he was trying to be a father, not Katya’s protector. Goodness, it was so temping but what the fuck right?

So, Sergei watched his face go blank and unreadable, while Yaroslav stared at the woman like she couldn’t believe he had crossed all rationality. Lines with this woman just to take the pressure off of Katya.

Gods, he had screwed up.

"What the fuck?" Yaroslav asked.

Milan just shrugged.

"If you ask me, they should have reminded him more. After all, Kathy never really stood a chance here. I gave you what you needed the most. You should be thankful," Milan said, and Sergei chuckled.

"Are you even hearing yourself?" Yaroslav asked.

"Tell me I am wrong, Yaro. Besides, if you wanted him, you wouldn’t have loved me even through your marriage. Now I’ll go back out there and entertain the guests while I leave you to determine what you will do with me.

"I hope you remember that I have no regrets for what I did. And if I had to do it again, I would. Without a second thought," Milan said as she got up.

And Yaroslav...

He had heard enough.

This woman insulted the love of his life.

This woman was trashing the man who meant the world to him.

This woman didn’t know that her baby wasn’t because of societal pressure, but because Katya had believed he needed to have a baby even when they were not going anywhere.

"Listen to me well, Milan," Yaroslav said, pinning Milan against the door.

"What will you do, huh? Threaten the mother of your child because of the useless omega, you could even get a baby with? Please. Kathy knew what he was. And he stepped aside. What I did was send a reminder to him to make sure he toes the line.

"He’s now going around with Senator Aleksandr. Maybe when the senator realizes he can’t carry kids for shit, he’ll ditch his ass too. Face it, Yaro. I made you a father. I made you a man, not the shell that had to defend his husband’s barrenness all thy time.

"Excuse me. I have guests to attend to," Milan said, pushing Yaroslav to the side like he was normal. Like it was okay, yet Yaroslav couldn’t bring himself to fight her.

This was his doing.

He had given her that confidence, and now, it was biting him in the ass. What the fuck was he even supposed to do with that information?

"If the chairman dies because of your whore, I will kill her, and you won’t even find a body to perform the final rites for," Sergei said to his son before he left.

He’d had enough of his son’s fallacy to last him a whole week.

But still, even he couldn’t believe how his family had turned out.

When did the rain begin hitting them hard??
