Chapter 376: Chapter 225: Yixia, Don’t Blame Me Tonight, I’m Going to Sleep in One Bed

Jiang Yixia hesitated for a moment before finally explaining, "He has shares in this hospital."

Pan Lanfang and Jiang Guoqiang were both stunned. Their eyes went wide, and their mouths hung open.

"He has shares?" Pan Lanfang repeated, her voice shooting up an octave as she nearly sat bolt upright in bed. "You mean, he’s the owner of this hospital?"

Jiang Yixia nodded. "You could say that. He’s one of the shareholders."

Pan Lanfang’s mouth fell open, and she couldn’t close it for a long moment. She even forgot about the apple in her hand.

Jiang Guoqiang was also stunned. The teacup in his hand shook, and he didn’t even notice the hot tea that spilled and scalded his hand.

"Then... then just how much money does he have..." Pan Lanfang muttered.

Jiang Yixia didn’t answer. She simply lowered her head and began cleaning the fruit peels off the table.

Pan Lanfang came back to her senses and looked at her daughter, her expression a complex mix of shock, confusion, and something else she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

She opened her mouth as if to ask something, but then held back.

Jiang Guoqiang, however, spoke first. His voice was a bit unsteady, and he sounded cautious. "Then... his feelings for you... they’re genuine, right? He’s not after something, is he? A man that rich... he must have plenty of women around him..."

Jiang Yixia looked up. Seeing her father’s cautious expression, she suddenly felt a pang of sadness.

She managed a smile and explained, "Dad, don’t overthink it. We’re just friends right now."

Jiang Guoqiang nodded and didn’t ask any more questions, but the worry in his eyes remained. He gripped the teacup so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

Pan Lanfang took Jiang Yixia’s hand and said softly, "Sweetie, it’s not that Mom is after his money. I’m just afraid you’ll get hurt. If you don’t want to be with him, then don’t. Don’t do it for the money..."

She paused, then her voice dropped even lower. "Mom may not have lived a life of luxury, but I don’t want you to sacrifice your happiness for money."

"Mom," Jiang Yixia interrupted, her tone growing serious. "It’s not about the money. We’re not even a couple right now. We’re just getting to know each other."

Pan Lanfang looked at her for a long moment, then smiled. "Alright, Mom understands. As long as you know what you’re doing."

That afternoon, Jiang Yixia went to the pharmacy to pick up Pan Lanfang’s medication.

There was no one at the VIP window; it was quiet and deserted, with only her there.

She gave the bed number, and the pharmacist began to fill the prescription.

She stood waiting at the counter, looking down at her phone and replying to a few messages.

"Hey beautiful, waiting for someone?" a man’s voice came from the side. It was greasy and carried a hint of flirtatiousness.

Jiang Yixia looked up and saw a man in his thirties standing next to her. He was wearing a floral shirt with the top two buttons undone, and his hair was so slick with gel that a fly would slip if it landed on it.

He was holding the latest model of a gold-colored foldable phone, clearly the type who loved to show off.

He was looking her up and down, his inappropriate gaze roaming from her face to her chest, then down to her legs. It was a clingy, uncomfortable stare.

Jiang Yixia frowned, ignored him, and took a step to the side.

But the man was relentless. He followed her with a step, grinned, and flashed a gold tooth. "Hey beautiful, don’t be so cold. Let’s get to know each other. My name’s Zhao Lei. I run a small business, in building materials. What about you? Where do you work? With an aura like yours, you must be a teacher, right?"

Jiang Yixia continued to ignore him and asked the pharmacist, "Excuse me, is my prescription ready?"

The pharmacist was checking the prescription and answered without looking up, "Just a moment, it’s almost ready."

This only encouraged the man in the floral shirt. He took another step closer, his cloying cologne mixed with the smell of smoke, nauseatingly strong. "Beautiful, let’s add each other on WhatsApp. Just to be friends. I can tell you have a great aura, not like an ordinary person. I know the director of this hospital. Want me to put in a good word for you, get your mom a better room? I have connections for the VIP wards, I can get you a discount."

"That won’t be necessary," Jiang Yixia finally said, turning her head to give him a cold look.

The man’s expression faltered, but he quickly plastered a smile back on his face. "Don’t be like that. It’s always good to have more friends. I’m not a bad guy, I just want to get to know you. You’re so beautiful, you must have a lot of guys chasing you, right? Let me tell you, I’m a good catch. I have two apartments in Yangcheng, and I drive a BMW."

Just as Jiang Yixia was about to speak, a hand suddenly landed on the floral-shirted man’s shoulder.

"Who the hell are you?" The man turned around and saw a man in a black jacket standing behind him. He had no expression on his face, and his eyes were cold, as if he were looking at a dead man.

It was Chen He.

Chen He didn’t speak, just stared at him.

His hand rested on the man’s shoulder. It wasn’t heavy, but the man couldn’t move, as if he were caught in a vise. He couldn’t even shrug his shoulder down.

"What do you want? Let go!" The man struggled but couldn’t break free. His face paled, and his voice shot up an octave. "I’m warning you, don’t mess with me! I know people! The director of this hospital is my buddy!"

"Chen He." A voice came from behind them, unhurried and tinged with a casual air.

The man in the floral shirt turned and saw another man in a dark gray jacket approaching.

He was very tall and had a powerful presence. He walked with an effortless stride, his leather shoes making solid, steady sounds on the floor.

His gaze swept over the man as if he were looking at an ant, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Boss." Chen He released his grip, stepped aside, and stood respectfully.

Lu Fan walked over to Jiang Yixia’s side and looked at her. His tone softened, making him seem like a completely different person. "Are you alright?"

Jiang Yixia shook her head. "I’m fine."

Lu Fan nodded, then turned to face the man in the floral shirt and asked flatly, "Is there a problem?"

The man in the floral shirt was intimidated by his gaze, but he refused to back down in front of a beautiful woman. He puffed out his chest, though his voice had lost all its confidence. "N-nothing. Just trying to make a friend. What’s it to you? Who are you?"
