Chapter 468: Chapter 466:“Lin Tian greets master.”

The whole place went silent as all eyes turned to the skies; there, descending like, well, a pair of immortals gracing the mortal world, were three figures, two men and a woman.

"Bingo!"

Looking at the three descending figures as they held themselves in such prestige one would think they hadn’t been here spying on the events all this while, only one thought crossed my mind:

"And here comes the classic scenario of elders wanting to pick out the exceptional disciples for themselves first before others become aware." I smiled thinly.

These high planar galaxies have truly decided to put in the work, huh? Then I don’t mind if I do.

"You couldn’t possibly believe that everything is going to play out the way you believe what you read does, right?" Sana asked, dumbfounded.

"Huh? But of course. I already found the protagonist, so events should play out pretty much as what I’ve read before, and I’m here for it."

"You do understand that this is real life and not some book, right? You can’t be basing real-world events on things you just happened to read in a past life."

Should I tell her? I mean, I wasn’t yet sure myself, but I can swear that somewhere out there, some bitchless fucker is currently typing furiously, trying to manipulate shit to suit the ideas in his head.

But how do I say that without sounding batshit crazy? When this little scenario already had Sana acting like I was becoming delusional.

"Who... are those?" Nyssara’s voice cut through my thoughts as I turned towards the beautiful woman whose eyes had locked onto the figures that seemed to be taking their sweet time coming down.

"Well, those are people I believe are here to take you and that fellow over there as personal disciples, or students, if you will." I shrugged.

"Huh? Why?"

"Because of your potential and martial spirit’s grade."

"But that is highly illogical," the woman’s brows folded, a confused expression on her face. "Why would anyone take someone they barely know or understand under their wing and teach them personally?"

Well, that’s cultivation world logic for you, my dear, I thought in amusement as I replied:

"Well, most often than not, it’s because they want to pass on their legacy to someone worthy."

"But even then, a background check should be necessary to know who you’re training. I mean, what if I were a traitor in disguise, or someone with a grudge that wanted to harm you?"

"Well, they believe they’re strong enough to put you down in that case."

"Then I can just wait it out and get strong enough first. No matter how I look at it, such a scenario seems unlikely because it is, quite frankly, dumb." She concluded, voice final.

I couldn’t help raising a curious brow at her demeanor. Something about that calculated and cold logical thinking was quite attractive, but:

"Your logic doesn’t work here, unfortunately."

"What?"

"I’ll tell you what. How about a wager between us?"

"A wager?"

"Yes. If, as I said, this woman intends to take you and that young man over there as personal disciples, then you’ll have to do whatever I say for the rest of the day. But if, as you said, she’s not, then I will do whatever you want for the rest of the day."

"This... it doesn’t seem fair, does it?"

"Oh... poor girl, she’s falling for it." Shaia sighed in exasperation.

"But her logic is quite sound. It doesn’t make any sense for someone to be that careless, right?" Sana reasoned.

"Unfortunately, logic starts going wonky whenever husband is involved." Terra.

"Master! Master! Can I join in too? I wanna bet against you too." Elira.

"Hmm? Elira? But why? You’ll already do whatever I want if I asked." A shameless grin had appeared on my face already at this point as I thought of the things I’d make this princess do.

"Pooh... that’s true, but still..."

"Alright, fine. You can join in. Sana, you too. I’d like to have you at my mercy for a day, hahahahaha..."

Laughing at the fuming tower spirit, I focused back on the still-confused princess:

"So? What do you say? And don’t worry about fairness; after all, being ordered around by a beautiful woman like yourself doesn’t sound too bad."

""""Shameless.""""

"This... alright then. But don’t worry, I won’t be unreasonable when I win."

Jackpot.

My grin turned evil as I returned my attention to the three that had finally completed their unnecessarily long descent.

....

"Ahh... Lady Luo, you’re here." The white-robed man hurriedly saluted the three figures with a cupped fist, demeanor subservient.

"Little Shen, there’s no need for such formalities. I’m merely here to have a word with some of the more outstanding participants." The woman’s words didn’t go unnoticed, as everyone within the area turned simultaneously to the two people that had had the largest reactions from the crystal orb.

My smile widened even further as Nyssara suddenly found herself at the center of attention, yet unlike what I had expected, she didn’t shy away. She didn’t back down. Her back instead stood straighter as an aura of pure grandeur surrounded her.

I was honestly quite impressed. She wasn’t the most powerful here, not even close, yet she seemed unshakable even before the three new arrivals.

It was obvious: this wasn’t a person the crowd could bully with attention. No. This was a woman that knew her place. And owned it she did.

"Hot!" She truly was at this moment.

As for the other youth, was there any need to say more? A sudden wind from ABSOLUTE nowhere suddenly began blowing as the young man’s long, wavy hair began dancing behind him, his tall and staunch figure being bathed in the afternoon sun, giving him an ethereal look.

It felt like the world was trying to assert that YES! This is the chosen one.

"Heh! Message received."

"Indeed. You two. What a marvelous display you had put on." The woman smiled behind her veiled face, and although it couldn’t be seen, the atmosphere around her visibly brightened.

"I am Lin Luo Yao, a grand elder of the Spirit Ascension Sect, from the Ascendant Heaven Sacred Land, located on the PrimeMartial Spirit World. It is a pleasure to meet fine geniuses like yourselves." The woman, to her credit, was quite polite and forthcoming.

Were it not for the fact that I could clearly sense the subtle ill intent behind that smile, I wouldn’t have found anything remotely wrong with her.

Yes. The moment she landed, her eyes had locked onto three beings instantly: Nyssara, Lin Tian, and then...

"Leo... looks like you’re quite popular in these parts." I laughed under my breath as I felt the woman taking side glances at the golden griffon.

"Worry not. I’m sure I’ll get to have a proper talk with them and see what exactly they find fascinating about me." Leo’s voice wasn’t even threatening. It was still the same brand of lazy, yet we all understood what he meant.

"Just don’t go making a mess and ruining things for me, both of you." My words were directed at both the monkey and chicken-cat as I refocused on the ongoing conversation.

"I greet the grand elder." The young man, Lin Tian, cupped his fists as he gave a customary greeting.

"Uhh... I greet the grand elder." Nyssara, unwilling to stand out, reciprocated the action as she greeted the elder as well.

"Fufufufufu... I already said there was no need for such formalities, right?" She waved away their greetings. "Alright, I shall not beat around the bush any more; I shall let you know of my true reasons for coming here."

"Here it comes."

"I am here to offer you two a bye on the trials. With talents and martial spirits like yours, you would be accepted with wide open arms in whatever sect or holy land you wish to enroll in, so I do not believe it necessary to waste your time on such trivial things."

"And???"

"Also, I shall be taking you two as personal disciples if you wish to serve under me. It is your choice, so do not feel pressured; I am sure you shall receive many such proposals from other elders as well, so just consider me as fishing first in clear waters, fufufufu..."

"Bingo!!" I cheered, eyes locking onto the stunned figure of Nyssara.

The blue-skinned beauty turned robotically towards me as our eyes locked together, the disbelief in her blue jewels clear for all to see.

"Told you so," I mouthed silently as I laughed at her surprise.

I had already seen that coming from a mile out.

Nyssara’s actions alone were already enough to force out some ancient elder into handing out a direct disciple token, but then adding on the manifestation from the black-haired youth from earlier, the matter was already a foregone conclusion.

...

"As I thought." The old soul within the young man’s body smiled as he listened to the words of the woman.

"Young lad. It seems our ticket into that rotten land has finally landed in our hands, just as we intended." The excitement in his voice was clear as the old soul tried to compose itself.

"Senior, is that where they’re keeping her? Is Xue’er within the Spirit Ascension Sect?" Lin Tian asked.

"I’m afraid not, lad. That young girl’s talent is even more terrifying than what you have right now; I do not believe she’s even within our current universe."

"What!!??" It took all he had for Lin Tian not to yell out loud, but he tried to hurriedly compose himself. "What do you mean she’s not within our current universe? What did those bastards do!?" A feeling of rage began bubbling up from within him as a suppressive aura began leaking out of him.

"Calm yourself, boy! Your little girlfriend has a divine-grade bloodline with twin four-headed terror spirits. That’s two mid-divine grade martial spirits! Even within the cosmic Calderan lineage, she would be a genius among geniuses, so I wouldn’t worry about her safety, ’cause I assure you, the Calderans will do all they can to protect her."

"So... she’s safe?"

"For the time being, yes. But not for long. And that’s why I say this is your chance. No one here understands just what you hold, and here, your enemy is offering the chance to learn and grow properly from it, so I believe you should take it, because I am sure you’ll need them if you wish to achieve the fastest growth possible."

"I’m not going to bow my head to these bastards, senior."

"You don’t need to. All you have to do is just take their offer and use this time to cultivate harder and faster. After all, what’s a little loss of prestige for the greater picture?" The old soul replied.

After a few moments of hard thought, the youth finally relented. "Alright, senior, I’ll do as you say, for now." The young man replied as he turned toward the woman. "I am flattered by senior’s magnanimity."

"Fufufufufu... such a respectful young man. Tell me, boy, what’s your name, and do you wish to serve under me as my personal disciple?"

"This one’s name is Lin Tian. And it is my eternal grace to serve under a person of your prestige."

"Hehe... alright. In that case, you know what to do."

Following the woman’s words, Lin Tian dropped to his knees as he gave the customary three kowtows before proclaiming out loud:

"Lin Tian greets master. Please take care of me."

"Fufufufufufufu...."
