Chapter 467: Chapter 465:Interrupted.

I could only stare at the black-haired young man in incredulity.

Here I was, thinking I was just trolling as usual with my cultivation world bullshit, and right in my face is being shoved the most stereotypical protagonist to have ever existed.

Black hair. Fair complexion. The type of disposition most would call determined and strong. Looking at him now, I could clearly see it.

"So you’re saying that kid has an old grandpa in his soul, giving him guidance and shit?"

"That ’kid’ is probably twice your age. Or are you forgetting that you’re still only 18 in this life?" Shaia teased.

"Numbers are irrelevant. Just tell me what I want to know."

"To answer your question, yes. It should be so. I don’t know whose soul that is though, but I can say it’s quite powerful."

"What are the chances that it’s actually the first emperor, Lin Feng’s soul that found the boy as a host, after he was almost killed by a treacherous brother that had colluded with one of his many wives?"

"That’s a bit far-fetched, no? And isn’t the emperor still alive? Supposedly with the true Caldera family?"

"We’re literally seeing a real live grandpa in a ring scenario, nothing can be considered far-fetched again, my love," I answered back as my entire focus returned to the man in question.

Suddenly, I was now interested in finding out just what the young man’s situation actually was. I needed to know just what the hell this was, but first—

"Martial spirit?"

"Yes. I have," the young man replied confidently as the registrar took out the same crystal from before.

"Place your palm on the crystal."

The young man nodded, putting his hands over the crystal.

His palm hadn’t even made contact yet, when—

THRRRUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

The crystal vibrated madly in intensity.

A blinding gold washed over the entire place as—

ROOOOOOOAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! A thunderous draconic roar shook the entire city and beyond.

A horrifying pressure pressed down upon everyone as the image of a three-headed golden dragon appeared within the sky, its serpentine body coiled into many tight loops, its massive heads peering down with pride and unyielding majesty, an aura of suffocating grandeur pouring out of it like a dam.

No one—not one of anybody currently standing within the place where the registration was happening—could stand upright.

Law comprehension. Law integration. Even the few law creation experts around—they were all unanimously forced to their knees, unable to even stand before the manifestation in the skies.

And now, all of a sudden, the only people left standing within the wide, plaza-like environment were me, Malachi, Paku, Salazar, and Leo.

Shulvan, still waiting his turn behind the young man, hadn’t even budged, and Nyssara’s own bloodline had effectively canceled out whatever pressure the dragon was forcing down.

Her assimilated beasts might have only been Celestial-grade, but her bloodline was a genuine Divine-grade one.

"This... this..." The strained voice of the white-robed registrar reached my ears as I turned to the man, only to find him struggling to remain on his knees.

A bona fide law creator, struggling to maintain some semblance of dignity, and even this was still the young man’s bloodline being tampered with?

"Interesting..."

....

....

"Impossible!!!" A shout tore out of the throat of the white-robed woman as she looked at the three-headed dragon manifestation.

"This shouldn’t be possible." Even the crimson-robed man had turned grim at the revelation.

"A Three-Headed Terror? How can someone not of the direct emperor’s line even have such a thing? And one with three heads?" The woman mumbled, confusion and dread coloring her face.

Not many knew of the martial spirit the first emperor, Lin Feng, had awakened during the planet’s intervention, since that history had been sealed away. But with her influence and position within the family, she knew perfectly what it was, yet it was because she knew this that she was even more disbelieving of what was happening.

"We need to take that boy with us. Now!" Her face hardened as she immediately disappeared from the spot, the crimson-robed man following swiftly after her.

...

"See, boy? I told you. This is what happens when you listen to me. And we’re only just getting started. Once we fully unlock your bloodline, your martial spirit’s true state will show itself, and then, we can work on bringing me back to life. Our vengeance will soon be completed."

An aged and wizened voice echoed through the black-haired youth’s head as the phantom image of a middle-aged man with white hair and starry eyes appeared within his mind.

"Senior, I just want to save Xue’er. Anything that can make it so that I can rip her out of the hands of those treacherous Lin bastards, I don’t care," the youth replied mentally.

"Don’t worry, boy. With me here, nothing can stand in the way of your ascension," the man replied with the confidence of someone who had already seen the top and didn’t find it worth mentioning.

"But... I think we need to be careful of those people." The man’s tone became a bit more subdued as his attention turned towards Dante’s group, which was still standing around casually, utterly unbothered by whatever pressure the manifestation was giving off.

"Why should we be bothered, senior? I don’t sense anything threatening from them."

"And that’s precisely why. Their auras are too calm and subdued. But even worse is the fact that the suppression from your Three-Headed Terror martial spirit is having no effect on them whatsoever. It’s almost as if they can’t even feel it," the apparition replied in curious caution.

"Hmmm... should I... eliminate the—" The thought hadn’t even completed itself when a horrifying sensation suddenly gripped both of them, man and spirit alike.

Their souls felt like they’d been plunged into the deepest reaches of hell as a cold unlike any other covered them. Their bodies began shivering violently as their teeth chattered uncontrollably.

Only one feeling was being communicated to their subconscious, and that was—

DEATH.

Cold. Final. Complete. Absolute.

A death so permanent that even their records might not survive.

That was what their souls were screaming at them, and the source of it all—

The black-haired youth raised his head, and his eyes locked onto the heterochromatic gaze of Dante.

A small and subtle smile had appeared on the handsome young man’s face.

Not an ounce of threat to be felt from it. But he knew. The old soul within him knew.

Somehow, incomprehensibly, this man had heard their thoughts, or felt their intent, and now, he was making his known. And from what they were feeling...

The young man bowed his head in subtle apology as he took his palm from the crystal, falling back a few feet, trying to stop his blood from running cold and dying on the spot.

"Never..." the old spirit forced out through chattering teeth, "never ever let such a thought cross your mind. Even by mistake. Never let such a thing ever brush your thoughts again! Do you understand me?"

"Ye... yes, senior." The two trembled on as they finally made their way out of the sight of the scary, smiling youth.

....

....

"Hmmm? I’m surprised you let him live," Malachi muttered lazily beside me as his gaze caught sight of the figure waddling away.

"Hmm... I’m surprised I did as well. Maybe the kid’s luck is just good, who knows?" I shrugged, not willing to answer fully.

As for why I truly spared the young man, who really knows? Maybe I wanted to watch a real-life protagonist beat the odds? Grow stronger with every adversity?

Or maybe I just didn’t want to ruin the experience by nipping the "I shall ascend above the heavens"-shouting MC so young.

Whatever the reason, one thing was for sure.

This young protagonist will live to fight another day. But with that life comes an unavoidable interest from me, as now, I have decided to become invested in this story, and whatever else this world might want to throw at me.

"Is it my turn now?" Shulvan, true to his nature, cared not for whatever had just happened.

The manifestation might as well have never appeared in his sight, as the crimson-robed fellow just stood above the still-groveling, white-robed registrar, expression blank.

"Can I get registered now?" he asked, uncaring for the man’s pathetic state.

"Ye... yes... yes, you can." The man finally managed to stand, picking up whatever was left of the scraps of his dignity.

"Na... name?"

"Sulvan Entros."

"Martial spirit?"

"I am the First Apostle of the Son."

"Uhh... I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that martial spirit before?"

"I am he that shall bring to heel all those that go against the will of the Son."

"Uhhh... sir, is something wrong with you?" The man was admittedly confused as to what Shulvan was saying.

How he went from a simple martial spirit question to a full-on monologue had me speechless.

"Damn... Dante, your assistant is at it again. Better stop him before he explodes that guy’s head for not ’understanding the greatness of his master.’"

Although worded in such a manner, Malachi wasn’t wrong. With how extreme Shulvan gets, that could very well be a scenario I see happening, so—

BANG!!!

I kicked the air from where I was at, and then—

BOOOOMMMM!!!

Shulvan’s form was sent crashing through multiple buildings as the white-robed man finally had time to finish up his tasks.

...

...

Unfortunately, there were no more surprises awaiting me as the remaining participants for today went through their registration hitch-free.

"Alright, everyone. The outer trials test for the Spirit Ascension Sect will commence in five days’ time. You have been given your various participation tokens, so I’d advise you not to miss it," the white-robed man announced loudly. "With that, this registration session has come to an—"

"Little Shen, mind if I interrupt your proceedings for a few moments?" Before the man could finish, a smooth feminine voice interrupted, as three figures slowly descended from the skies.

"Heh... seems they’re finally showing themselves."

Some new players had finally appeared, and so the plot thickens.
