"Of course there is," Ni Mengxue replied. "Iron weapons can’t be completely sterilized, especially during a battle when you don’t have time to clean them properly. If a weapon is contaminated with zombie blood and then cuts you, infection is possible."

She pointed toward Huang Meng’s wound.

"But that’s not what happened here. Look closely. This scratch wasn’t caused by a zombie’s claws. It was caused by his own dagger."

Everyone looked at the wound.

"Fresh blood is still coming out, and there are no signs of blackening around the wound. If the zombie virus had entered his bloodstream, the surrounding skin would have already started changing."

Giga’s eyes widened. "Then there’s a way to prevent infection?"

"There are methods."

Ni Mengxue took out several fresh vegetables and handed them to Ai Ching.

Ai Ching immediately understood what she wanted and began preparing them.

The slum residents watched in confusion.

A few of the men gathered around a young woman named Willow.

Willow was a beautiful girl with a slim waist, blonde hair, and bright eyes. She had a naturally cheerful and bubbly personality, but she was also emotional and sensitive.

Huang Meng had always admired her and was pursuing her for a long time.

When she heard that he had been injured, however, she hadn’t even dared to approach him. She simply stood there crying.

It wasn’t because she didn’t care; rather, she couldn’t bear to see him turn into a zombie. So she did what she thought was right. Crying.

Dante, a skinny man with charming features, walked over and gently patted her back.

"Don’t worry. Miss Ni is trying to find a solution. Maybe Huang Meng won’t have to leave us."

Willow sniffled and looked toward Ni Mengxue. "But what if, after curing him, she asks him to become her husband?"

Dante was speechless hearing such a vivid imagination. He forced an awkward smile.

"Don’t worry. Miss Ni isn’t that kind of person."

’How could she possibly demand a husband?’

He almost wanted to scream.

Ni Mengxue hadn’t even shown interest in any of the people from the slums, despite there being plenty of handsome men among them. She hadn’t even looked twice at them.

’Why would she suddenly choose Huang Meng?’

Before he could say anything else, Willow’s tearful voice sounded again.

"If she really does that, then I promise I’ll give her ten percent of everything I earn in the future!"

Her eyes and nose had both turned red from crying. Dante was speechless. He quickly took out a few pieces of jewelry and placed them in Willow’s hands.

"Here. Don’t cry anymore."

Willow stared at the jewelry through her tears. She slipped one of the pieces onto her finger and began twirling it.

It was a habit of hers. Whenever she felt overwhelmed or confused, she would play with her jewelry or repeatedly turn it around her finger.

Seeing her like this, Dante couldn’t help thinking that Willow was truly cute.

Meanwhile, Huang Meng remained beside Ni Mengxue for quite some time before he gradually became drowsy.

Slowly, he fell asleep on the grass. When Ni Mengxue saw this, she waved her hand, and a bed appeared beside him.

She looked at the slum residents.

"Let’s wait here until he regains consciousness. Moving now would only cause trouble for him and prevent him from recovering properly."

No one objected. Everyone sat in a circle around Huang Meng.

One of them whispered, "I have to say, Miss Ni is truly daring. What she’s claiming now is almost like saying that we don’t understand anything about the zombie apocalypse."

Another person immediately whispered back, "Hey, don’t you dare speak badly about Miss Ni. If she says she can do it, then she definitely can!"

Giga frowned and shouted, "Shut up! Let Huang Meng rest. If you keep whispering like that, how is he supposed to sleep?"

A very thin man inched closer to Giga. "Do you think there’s any chance that if I propose to Miss Ni, she’ll agree?"

Giga rolled his eyes. ’Even if you propose, she won’t agree.’

As Ni Mengxue had predicted, Huang Meng finally regained consciousness that evening.

The entire group fell silent. There were no cheers or celebrations. Instead, everyone stared at Huang Meng with complicated expressions.

For the first time, they realized something. They weren’t disposable bait. They were human beings whose lives mattered enough for someone to fight for them.

Someone had been willing to think beyond simply sacrificing them to survive. The convoy continued its journey after that.

Finally, they reached their destination. Or at least, what was supposed to be their destination.

Ni Mengxue stepped out of her RV and blinked in surprise.

The base before her looked nothing like the impressive bases she had seen before. Instead, it looked more like a temporary settlement, with simple buildings scattered throughout the area.

Giga stood nearby with Ginger when Ginger suddenly asked, "Wait, is this the Fair Shallow Land you were talking about?"

He looked around suspiciously. "Why do I feel like we’ve been scammed?"

Rosie, one of the relocated residents, patted the others on the back. "Let’s go. It’s not like we’ve arrived somewhere terrible. Just how bad can this place be?"

Ni Mengxue pursed her lips. "There is a problem."

She looked around the base. There were indeed around a hundred residential rooms.

But the number of people she had brought from the slums was at least a thousand.

She closed her eyes and muttered, "How did I become so forgetful?"

However, keeping a straight face, she opened the system panel and used a one-click feature to build 1000 rooms right away.

.................

Inside the Fair Shallow Land.

The residents were busy with their day-to-day life of burning bricks, with some leaving to explore for resources.

Some of them fanned themselves and eventually said, "Sigh, I wonder when someone will invent an air conditioner."

"Hm? I wish more rooms were built. God, if you are listening, please build more rooms." Yao Hu shouted.

The next second, a golden light enveloped the base.
