Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 140: Three Horned Ants
They were facing mutated animals: three-horned ants.
The three-horned ants had tough, red exoskeletons covering their entire bodies. They had long antennae, wings on their backs, and limbs as thin as mosquito legs, yet unusually long. Their bizarre appearance alone was enough to make anyone uneasy.
Xin Ai, He Yong, Milan, Griffin, Li Han, Ai Qing, and Ru Nian immediately stepped forward to fight.
At the same time, the others kept watch over their surroundings in case more mutated creatures appeared.
Lu Yucai also wanted to join the battle, but Ni Mengxue stopped him. "You stay here and observe."
Lu Yucai frowned but eventually nodded.
He Yong, whose physical strength was the greatest among them, charged forward first to draw the ants’ attention.
Li Han quickly summoned thick plant vines and wrapped them around one of the three-horned ants.
However, the vines struggled to hold it. The ant’s exoskeleton was incredibly smooth and hard, causing the vines to constantly slip off.
He Yong gritted his teeth and punched the ant directly.
Bang!
The impact barely left a mark, yet he punched it again. However, even after four or five punches, there wasn’t even a dent.
"What’s going on?"
The others were stunned.
Milan immediately unleashed his superpower. Lightning rained down from the sky, striking the ants repeatedly.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Yet when the lightning faded, the three-horned ants remained completely unharmed. Their red exoskeletons didn’t even seem scratched.
Milan’s expression darkened. "How is their defense this strong?"
Lu Yucai observed the battle from a distance before saying, "Their defense is too strong. That shell is practically bulletproof."
He frowned, and subconsciously clutched the door edge.
"What kind of mutated animal is this? Why have we never heard of them before?"
Ni Mengxue didn’t answer. Her attention was fixed on their antennae.
’They look very similar to the unicorn ants from my previous life.’
In her previous life, there had been a special species known as unicorn ants. They had a horn-like structure on their bodies, four legs, and wings that made them resemble miniature unicorns.
The only thing that made them look like actual ants was their antennae. ’Could these three-horned ants have something in common with them?’
Ni Mengxue suddenly thought of something and immediately ran toward the battlefield. Using her ice ability, she created a layer of frost around all three ants.
The ants’ legs froze. However, the rest of their bodies remained unaffected.
Ni Mengxue’s expression changed. ’It’s not enough.’
The ants struggled violently against the ice.
At most, the ice would hold them for three or four minutes before they broke free.
Ni Mengxue immediately ran toward Ai Ching. "Take out that flower. The yellow flower with red tips that Li Han showed us that day."
Ai Qing frowned as he tried to remember. Then his eyes lit up.
He remembered Ni Mengxue mentioning a flower that could cause mutated animals to lose consciousness, so he took it out of his space.
Ni Mengxue had already prepared a large container. "Uncle Yong, crush these."
He Yong immediately stepped forward and began crushing the flowers into a fine powder.
At the same time, Ni Mengxue turned toward Li Han. "Do you have lily perfume?"
Li Han was stunned. "Lily perfume?"
He quickly nodded. "Yes."
He looked toward Ai Qing, who immediately took out a bag.
Ni Mengxue retrieved the bottle of perfume and smelled it to confirm its scent. ’It’s lily.’
She quickly emptied the entire bottle into the powdered flowers and mixed everything together.
By then, the ice around the ants had begun cracking.
"Hold them back!" Ni Mengxue shouted.
Everyone immediately moved forward to stall the ants.
Once the mixture was ready, Ni Mengxue poured it into an empty spray bottle. "Everyone, move away from the battlefield."
The others quickly retreated. The moment the ants broke free, they rushed toward Ni Mengxue.
She activated her Ice Domain once again, freezing their legs. Then she covered her own face with a towel and sprayed the mixture into the air.
A fine mist spread across the battlefield. The three-horned ants struggled violently, but within moments, their movements slowed.
One by one, they collapsed.
Ni Mengxue waited, and once five minutes had passed, she checked her watch.
’The effect is strong enough.’
He Yong immediately ran over. "They’re unconscious."
He looked at the ants before continuing, "We should leave them and move on."
Ni Mengxue shook her head. "No. They’re valuable materials for making armor. We should harvest them here."
Li Han frowned, crossing his arms.
"But how? They’re ridiculously powerful. Even if your potion knocked them unconscious, I doubt it’ll keep them down forever."
Ni Mengxue smiled. "Fortunately, I know their weakness."
She pointed toward the ants. "There’s a slight gap between their upper and lower bodies. Slash through that gap, and you can kill them."
Everyone followed her instructions, and to their surprise, the ants died almost instantly.
Once all three were dead, Ai Qing walked over and examined their bodies.
"They might be useful because of their venom or their limbs, but how are you planning to turn their exoskeletons into armor? We don’t have any machine capable of cutting through something this tough."
Ni Mengxue waved her hand casually. "Don’t worry about it."
She had an industrial workshop in her space. With the equipment inside, processing these materials wouldn’t be difficult.
Of course, she couldn’t tell them that.
She simply smiled and said, "I’ll figure it out."
With that, everyone returned to the convoy and continued their journey.
Once they were inside the vehicle, Li Han immediately started throwing a tantrum.
"This is too much! Ni Mengxue, you keep eyeing my precious collection and even using it!"
Ni Mengxue raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? If you truly feel wronged, I can call over another batch of three-horned ants and let you deal with them yourself."
Li Han immediately fell silent. He gave her a sheepish smile.
"You really take everything seriously. I was just joking. Haha."
