Chapter 79: Ch 79: Everyone has Limits

In the end, Kris was expelled, but he did not look happy about it. He tried to argue that he was innocent a few more times. But he had a lot of espers against him, which made him grit his teeth and fall quiet.

Noah watched him leave while trying to hide a smile. But Kris noticed this and tried to attack him one last time, which resulted in him being thrown out immediately.

"You all are making a huge mistake. I am not the culprit here, but that guide. If there is anyone you need to get rid of, it is that lowlife!"

Kris cursed at Noah even as he went out, but Noah continued to wave at him when no one was looking.

Finally, things had been resolved, and now the teachers would soon give Daniel and Noah their room back as well...

"Everyone, please return to your rooms. Everyone except you, Student Noah. We have a lot more we need to discuss now."

The teachers deliberately tried to avoid looking at his swollen neck, which looked far worse than it actually was. Guilt and annoyance swirled in their eyes, making this a perfect opportunity for Noah to take advantage of.

And he had no intention of letting it go.

The teachers led him back to their lounge and took out even more paperwork.

"I know that it was all bad, but Kris is gone now, so it should be safe for you in this academy. But in order for you to continue here, we would like to have you sign this contract. Don’t worry, this one is not like the others. This one is written to protect you."

The teachers bullshitted their way as they handed Noah the new contract to sign.

But calling it a new contract was not really correct.

Noah read the first page, which was worded differently but had the same meaning as the last contract—it said that Noah would pardon the academy for any wrongs they had committed up until now.

’I would be a fool to sign this.’

And yet, did Noah have a choice? He was surrounded by these teachers, and he knew that he could either sign this contract or bash the teachers in and run...

’Can I cause memory loss if I hit them right? Or maybe I can get an esper to do this for me? I mean, they would agree if I gave them enough money, right?’

Noah noticed how the teachers looked more and more cautious when he did not sign the contract outright. Their sharp eyes were telling him to hurry up.

In the end, he had no choice in the matter but to hand his rights over. His pen reached the paper when someone slammed the door open and grabbed him and the contract.

"How many times do I need to tell you not to sign things without showing me first?"

Daniel was holding his wrist in one hand and the contract in the other with a glare on his face. That glare soon turned to the teachers, but they had no patience for Daniel this time.

"Student Daniel, please stay out of this. We also have our limits and you are testing them. But we won’t be able to excuse you all the time—"

"Then, let’s agree to make this one exception. Alright?"

Alan asked while entering as well. His smile was so sweet that even Noah felt creeped out. The teachers were, obviously, nervous and looked at each other.

In the end, they sighed and decided to let the matter drop. But only because of Alan and his influence.

"Very well. We already expelled one student, so it won’t look good if we expelling another one. Student Noah, you should head to the medical wing to get yourself checked out. The injury on your neck looks bad..."

One of the teachers tried to lighten the situation, only to make it worse somehow.

Noah felt both Daniel and Alan looking at his injured neck after appearing out of nowhere, and their murderous aura was starting to feel suffocating.

’I need to get them out of here before they cause any accidents.’

Noah sighed and prayed to the gods to give him strength before he dragged the pair out. But they were still fuming, which meant he needed to distract them.

’What can I ask them that would take their mind off what happened? What can distract them? I know—’

"So, how did your date go? Did you have fun? What did you do? And why did you come back so soon? You should have enjoyed yourselves a little more."

Noah tried to lighten the mood by changing it to something different.

As expected, his words distracted the esper-guide pair he was dragging. And just like always, Daniel exploded in denial.

"Huh? What date are you talking about? There was no date! We just happened to have something to do together. That is all. This does not make our outing a date. Hey, are you hearing me? Noah—"

Daniel grabbed Noah’s shoulder to shake him, but Noah only laughed at his actions. It only served to make Daniel even angrier as he tried to deny his ’date.’

He even turned to look at Alan for help, which made the esper grin and walk toward Daniel and Noah.

"Hey, asshole, tell Noah that we were not on a date!"

He demanded, and Alan sighed before clutching his heart in a playful manner.

"Noah, my partner is rejecting me so fiercely. My heart is breaking. What can I do now? It feels like I won’t be able to keep myself happy anymore. I need you to help me out, please."

Alan rested his head on Noah’s shoulder playfully, and the esper’s breath tickled his throat. It also forced a chuckle out of his throat, which made Daniel frown.

"Hey, stop bothering Noah. Just because he does not say anything does not mean he is not bothered, and—"

"But it should be fine. You already rejected me, so allow me to get my comfort."

Daniel and Alan were bickering, and Noah felt his heart lighten at that. Somehow, it felt like he was back home in the past...

And then his neck started to throb.
