Chapter 75: Ch 75: You and I are different

"W-What are you all looking at? I did not do anything bad! He’s just a B-class guide. He will be fine. And even if he is not, does it matter? His importance is nothing compared to mine."

Kris pointed out, expecting the others to agree with him.

At least the espers around him were like-minded and looked down on the guides. They would back him...

But that did not happen.

What Kris failed to notice about his fellow espers was that they were shallow creatures who followed authority.

Usually, it was fine for them to abuse a guide because everyone was doing that. But right now, Kris had decided to mess with another esper-guide pair, which earned him the scorn of other guides and espers.

He was suddenly all alone, and his anger flared.

"What is wrong with you all? What did I do so wrong? This is not my fault-"

"What is going on here? Why are you all gathered here like this?"

The teacher quickly arrived and asked. Her eyes fell on Noah’s unconscious body and then on Kris with an understanding expression.

Seeing that look made Kris sigh in relief.

’Finally, someone who will take my side. I don’t need to worry anymore-’

However, what Kris forgot to take into account was that he was not the only esper here with influence. And the esper from the esper-guide pair spoke up with a clear voice.

"Teacher, not only did Kris knock that poor guide out, but he also tried to assault my guide and me. I want to press charges against him."

The esper was firm, and Kris knew that he was from a highly influential political family. He only recalled this because he was one of the people his father specifically warned him not to mess with. Of course, Alan was on top of that list, but that was another matter.

Kris noticed how his teacher’s expression tightened, and he knew he was in trouble. He needed to clear this up now-

Sigh

"I see. So Student Kris caused trouble? Please leave this matter to me. I will see that it is dealt with."

The teacher actually sounded annoyed, which made Kris scared. Was he actually in trouble? But no! The teacher must be covering for him.

And the other esper seemed to think the same way as well because he frowned and spoke firmly.

"I don’t care for your ’matter settling’. We all know you will slap him on the wrist and let him go. However, I want proper measures to ensure he is punished. And if not, then I will make this an issue."

Kris looked at the teacher with begging eyes, but the teacher could no longer support him.

They were still dealing with Alan, and the only reason they could block his request was because his father was out of the country on business, which had bought them some time.

But now, the pressure had just gotten even harder on their backs...

It was finally time to cut Kris off. He had finally caused a public accident they could no longer overlook.

"We understand. The teachers will have a discussion. For now, why don’t you take responsibility for what happened and take Student Noah to the temporary medical wing? He looks like he could use a helping hand."

The teacher pointed out, and Kris immediately tried to get out of helping Noah.

"Teacher-"

"Just take responsibility and don’t argue with me. This shall be your last chance. Do not cause an accident again."

The teacher refused to hear him out, and he was forced to take care of Noah in the end.

It felt unfair to him. He had not done anything, and yet, he was being treated like this. And it was all Noah’s fault.

So, instead of taking Noah to the medical office, he took him to a quiet room and slapped him to wake him up.

"Ughhh."

Noah opened his eyes, and Kris immediately grabbed him by the collar.

"You! Do you know what you have done to me? Because of you, I am in trouble. How are you going to make it up to me?"

Kris demanded in a firm voice, and Noah’s voice sounded small and scared when he looked at him.

"W-What do you mean? I only tried to help you because I like you. I-I was just doing what I learned from you."

Noah told Kris, and he paused at his confession.

Suddenly, the culprit behind what happened to him and his room started to become clear. But things still did not add up...

"How could a guide like you pull it off? Stop trying to take credit for something you did not do. Besides, I don’t want to be liked by a guide as weak as you-"

"But I did it. I snuck into your room and left a message just like you left for Daniel. And I even left you a gift that I hoped you would like. I-I like you, so I understand you. This is what you wanted to do for Daniel, right? So I am just doing what you want me to."

Noah told him earnestly, but instead of feeling flattered, the esper felt creeped out.

"Just stop it! I told you I don’t want to be courted like this-"

"But you courted Daniel like this, so I thought-"

"It is different between me and Daniel. It’s because Daniel likes this kind of thing. He’s just too shy to say anything."

The esper firmly enforced these words because he believed in them.

But then Noah decided to look at him with those unsettling eyes of his and opened his mouth.

"Are you sure Daniel likes this stuff? Or are you just trying to force your feelings on him? If so, then what is so different between you and me? Isn’t that exactly what you did-"

"You bastard! Shut up! We are different! I refuse to accept your courtship! I should just end your life-"

Kris got so triggered that he grabbed his necklace, and the next second, there was a giant monster tearing through the academy at his command while the esper kept losing his mind.
