[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 72: Ch 72: Good things came to an end
Noah was starting to get bored alone in the room. Daniel and Alan had been gone for so long that he was afraid they had forgotten all about him.
They had both made separate excuses about needing to go out. He did not even recall what they told him when they went out...not that he minded.
"It’s better if they sneak around and get together in the process. It will make my life so much easier..."
That annoying pang inside Noah’s chest fluttered, causing him to let out a sigh and pull the blankets over his head. He knew what his heart was trying to tell him, but unfortunately, he was not interested in it.
Unfortunately, there was nothing to do in Alan’s room except listen to the silence.
"Ugh, I am going to go mad at this rate. I need something fun—"
ring
Noah’s phone started ringing, which startled him. He was not expecting a call anytime soon, but he decided to pick it up and check who was calling him.
The ID was from the lab, and Noah felt tense, but he decided to take it. But he did not take it in the room where anyone who opened the door could see and hear him.
Instead, he took the call to the bathroom and picked up.
[My dear failed subject, S-001, how are you doing today? Is the academy treating you well?]
Noah tensed as soon as he heard that soft voice chuckling in his ear. The head researcher was calling and talking to him, which made Noah feel nervous.
His mouth refused to move according to his wishes, but it did not seem to bother the head researcher.
[Noah, take a deep breath and talk to me. Tell me how your body is holding up.]
The command immediately made Noah follow it, and he opened his mouth to give a report reflexively.
"I am feeling fine. There is no pain or torn ligaments. My mental stability is stable as well, and I am keeping up with my meds on time. There is no serious ailment needing to be reported either."
[Hmm, I see. So you are taking good care of yourself. It makes me happy to know. I suppose you warrant a reward for your good work. The person who will be sent to your academy as a teacher has been selected. I am sure you will be delighted to meet with a ’friend’ soon.]
The head researcher sounded happy when he said that, which meant that it was not a simple ’infiltration’ mission.
He only sounded like this on a few occasions...
’Don’t tell me...is this an experiment? And did he say ’friend’? But I don’t have any friends at the labs. Everyone is either dead or escaped except—’
"Professor, what did you do?"
Noah asked in a scared voice, dreading the outcome of what he was about to hear.
[Why do you sound so scared? I promise I did not do anything weird or too out of the ordinary. I just decided to give both you and ’that child’ a gift. Enjoy it while it lasts. All good things come to an end, after all. That child will be here in three days, so be ready mentally.]
Finally, the call was cut off, and Noah felt like he had been hit by a train.
Calls with the professor always left him feeling drained, but it felt especially bad this time. Even his head was starting to hurt.
"Ugh, the professor sure is a piece of work. Why can’t he ever give me a straight answer? I don’t think I want to think about it anymore."
Noah complained, suddenly feeling drained. But he also felt motivated to end the situation with Kris before that.
He did not want the professor’s spy to know about his actions and what he was doing. That would make running away much harder for him.
"Tomorrow, I am going to start in earnest, and Senior Kris will see the true nature of what he was doing."
Noah would take revenge for himself and Daniel, and once Senior Kris was gone, there would be no obstacle standing between Daniel and Alan...not even Noah.
...
’It feels warm...and familiar. Did I end up between those two again?’
It was becoming a familiar sight—waking up between Daniel and Alan’s bodies, with them pressing their bodies tightly against Noah.
Noah felt warm and comforted, but he also knew that he needed to get up and start the day.
The sun had yet to be up, which meant that there were two hours before it was time for them to get to class. Alan decided to wrap his arms around Noah and pull him back.
"Go back to sleep. It’s too early."
The esper complained, making Noah struggle even more.
"I need to go to the washroom. I will be back in a bit."
Noah told him, and Alan grumbled unhappily, but he let Noah leave. This was a huge win in Noah’s books because not only did he need to go to the bathroom, but he also needed to start his plan.
He quietly slipped out of Alan’s room, and after avoiding all the cameras, he made it to Kris’s room and decided to take out the basket he had made especially for the esper.
Noah had kept it in the secret inventory he had on him, and he quickly took it out and decorated it with the blood he had stolen from the medical wing before it got destroyed for...reasons.
He smeared it on the basket and left another letter.
Now, he just needed to head back to the room.
He came back and went back to bed to sleep some more. His blank space between Alan and Daniel was still there, which made him sigh and sneak in there.
Both Alan and Daniel wrapped their arms around his middle and pulled him closer, but he was too sleepy to notice this.
For now, he just wanted to remain here in this comfort. And as for everything else...he would think about it later.
