Chapter 65: Ch 65: Darn, you live like that?

"Looks like your room is thrashed. I can sense that another esper did this. But they must have really hated you to leave your room in such a state."

Alan whistled as soon as he looked inside the room, and Daniel sighed at the destruction that had happened inside his room.

Noah could not help but find this scene familiar as he watched one side of the room completely destroyed while the other side was ruffled through.

"Ugh, it will take ages to resolve this issue. I don’t even think it’s worth it to involve the teachers at this point. I should just buy a safety artifact for my room."

Unfortunately, it would cost money, and Daniel’s current condition was not really financially stable.

From what Noah knew of his background, Daniel was adopted into a wealthy family after leaving the labs, but his life was not easy.

The family that adopted him did not need children to love, but children to exploit. So they adopted a lot of children and gave them resources, but left them to fend for themselves.

That was how Daniel grew up in an esper-dominated environment until he ultimately awakened his abilities and used them to dominate that small ring.

But that did not mean he did not have his own scars from that time, and he really was short on money most of the time because the kids were not provided much financial aid.

’Still, he is free to live his life or even run away from that place. And once he gets close enough with Alan, he will take Daniel out of there. As for me...’

Noah decided not to make himself feel depressed while thinking about his own situation. He focused on the situation at hand instead and let out a sigh.

He saw this as a perfect opportunity to get Alan and Daniel closer.

"Alan, why don’t you buy Daniel an artifact for safety? You must know a lot of shops and people, right? It can be a good birthday gift."

Noah proposed, which made Daniel’s face flush with anger.

"I don’t need charity from an esper-"

"Ah, that does look like a good idea. I can get one for both you and Daniel. Maybe one for Ethan as well, seeing how he is so busy and distracted all the time."

Noah decided not to say anything at that. Knowing Daniel’s personality, he was not going to take the gift from Alan if it was especially for him, but it was a different matter if it was a communal gift. And Noah would never say no to a safety device after all he had been through.

And as for Ethan...

’Isn’t he busy this time because of you? You are the one who sent him on an errand...’

But that was also something Noah chose not to say. For now, it was more important to look after Daniel’s safety.

"You cannot possibly stay in your room tonight. You should find another place to stay-"

Daniel turned toward Noah with his eyes shining. Noah had a feeling he needed to run or he would be caught and made to do something awkward.

Unfortunately, he had nowhere to run because Alan was blocking him, and Daniel was closing in on him from the other side.

"Noah, can I spend the night with you? My room will need some time to be cleaned out, and I have nowhere else to go-"

"You have Alan’s room-"

"As I said, I have nowhere else to go. You are not going to abandon me, right? Take me with you to your room."

Daniel was begging him, but there was no way Noah could take him along to his small room where even a table barely fit. He did not want to make the other guide suffer.

"I don’t think that’s a good idea-"

"Please."

It was unfair how Daniel was able to make his eyes look bigger and beg Noah like that. It was a look that Noah was weak against.

Noah was not someone who was weak against beautiful faces. In fact, he could not care for the most part.

But when it came to Daniel and Alan, it was a different matter, and it made Noah sigh in regret at what he was about to do.

"Fine, I will take you to my room. But don’t get your hopes up too much. There is nowhere for you to sleep in there, and you will see why soon."

Noah felt like a horrible human being for leading Daniel and Alan to his room, but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to hide it forever.

The teachers seemed to have no intention of changing his room back with Daniel, and that meant that he likely would not get a new room until the end of the year.

So he might as well get this over with.

"This...is your room? Is that even a room? Are you sure that anyone can even live here? I don’t think Alan can even lie in this room."

Daniel pointed out with his mouth in a flat line. He looked unimpressed with the ’room’ Noah had gotten, and his words made Noah’s face flush with embarrassment.

He knew that it was not his fault he ended up with this room, but he still could not lift his head at Daniel’s words due to embarrassment.

"The teachers must have lost their minds these days. First, their carelessness causes you to get injured more times than I am comfortable with, and now this."

Daniel continued to complain, and each word he spoke felt like a bullet to Noah. He was not even able to say anything in return.

Still, he needed to tell Daniel that he could not stay here and that going with Alan was better for him.

"You see, this is why you cannot stay with me. You should spend the night in Alan’s room and-"

"What about you? Don’t tell me that you are going to spend the night in this place?"

Daniel cut him off, and Noah wanted to yell at him that he was not that foolish. Of course, he was going to go to the medical wing to spend the night and...

’Oh shit! The medical wing got destroyed last night. It won’t have been reconstructed so soon.’

So yeah, it looked like Noah had no option but to sleep here.
