Chapter 48: Ch 48: You cannot trust the teachers

Daniel wanted to deny that he needed Alan’s help. He wanted to resolve this issue on his own and not own anyone anything.

But the look on Alan’s face told him that the esper was going to get himself involved whether Daniel told him or not. And he would also end up finding the truth anyway, so it was better to involve him...

’Darn it! I cannot believe I am thinking of teaming up with an esper of all people! But if I delay any further and something were to happen to Noah, I would feel worse...’

That was the only thought that convinced Daniel that it was worth it to include Alan on his side. After all, he was neither deaf nor blind. Even if Alan pretended to be a meek esper, the way he was treated screamed special.

"Fine, I will allow you to help-"

"Can you count me in as well? I want to help."

Ethan interfered and made Daniel’s bad mood worse.

He was already dealing with Alan, so he did not need another esper to interfere between him and Noah. He could handle Noah himself...but maybe having Ethan around won’t be all bad?

Ethan could act as a shield to block Alan if nothing else. Daniel could already see Alan frowning and he decided to act before Alan could tell Ethan to fuck off.

"Fine, you can help us out as well. First, we need to do something about the teachers and our situation. I will tell you what happened until now."

Daniel had given a brief description of what had happened until now with their room and how the teachers had separated them both.

So they decided to start with Daniel and Noah’s old room that was locked. But they did not find much of anything.

Next, they decided to look at Daniel’s current room, only to find that it was open.

"Tsk, looks like someone broke into my room again. Let me enter first."

"Hey, you-"

Despite the fact that there were two espers present, Daniel still tired to enter the room first to check up on it. Ethan tried to stop him, but Alan grabbed his hand and shook his head.

This was Daniel’s choice to make.

"It’s safe to enter."

Daniel told the pair soon after he was finished checking and when they entered, they saw that he had a letter in his hand.

"This letter is-"

"My stalker. Since it has no name, I can only assume it’s from the person who destroyed Noah’s stuff and trashed our room before. Let me open and read it."

Daniel tore the letter open without much concern and began to read it out allowed.

[My dear Guide,

Did you like the surprise I gave you? I got rid of that annoying leech for you.

As your dear admirer, I could no longer sit around and watch as that leech hung off your pretty frame any longer. So I tempered with the guns, hoping it could cause an accident. And it seems that luck was on my side because things unfolded as I wanted.

Now, you are finally free to live your own life. So won’t you spare me a glance as well?

I shall be eagerly awaiting the day when I can show myself to you and earn the praise for all I did.

"What the heck is that letter? Is that person delusional? Who causes an accident like this without even checking whether they have a misunderstanding first or not."

Ethan complained as soon as Daniel finished reading that letter. His concerned expression was mirrored by the others around him as well. But unlike Ethan, neither Daniel nor Alan were forgiving type.

"Hmm, looks like we have solid evidence about who was behind that gun attack. Shall we take it to the teachers?"

Alan questioned and Daniel felt hesitant.

"Will the teachers help? I have a feeling they will choose to ignore it rather than do anything meaningful."

"The teachers might not want to help a kid like you, but they bend over backwards when I ask them for something. If they chose to ignore this, then it would narrow down our options for the culprit. Don’t you agree?"

Alan sounded proud when he announced this, but as much as Daniel hated to admit it, he was right. The teachers did bend over backward for Alan.

Moreover, his request was more likely to be heard by them earnestly.

"Let’s take it to the teachers and hear what they have to say."

The trio ended up in front of the teacher lounge and Ethan slapped the door open without even knocking at it.

The teacher were lazing inside when they heard the loud noise and they immediately looked up at the door to see who had entered. They were ready to tear the rude individual apart when they noticed that it was Ethan who came inside. And he was not the only one.

Alan and even Daniel had followed him with an almost eager pace.

"Students, can we help you?"

The teacher nearest to the door asked, trying to capitalise on this opportunity and make an impression on these kids.

The other two did not matter as much, but Alan was someone the teacher really wanted to get to know because of his powers and family name.

Unfortunately, his eyes looked a little weird. He was still smiling but that smile felt insincere.

"Excuse me, but we would like to know what the progress is for finding the culprit behind the gun malfunction accident."

Alan asked in a polite voice and the teacher panicked on the inside.

They were specifically instructed to bury this incident since it involved an upper class esper, so they had started to erase the evidence of what happened so far.

The fact that a useless B-class guide was the only one hurt made it easy to process and hide the information as well. Moreover, the guide had no family, so no one even came forward to question them...until now.

But the teacher was still not as worried as he should be.

After all, the ones questioning him were kids and they would be easy to handle.
