[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 129: Ch 129: Then Success of the experiment - Part 3
knock
Noah, Daniel, and Alan were in the middle of packing when Ethan’s mother decided to knock on their door. She pushed the door open even though she was not called inside, and she immediately walked toward Noah to pull him into a hug.
It happened all of a sudden, and Noah awkwardly looked at Alan and Daniel for help.
But while Daniel looked confused and suspicious, Alan looked like he was about to kill someone.
And that someone was going to be Ethan’s mother.
Luckily for her, she pulled back at the last second, but not before she whispered something in Noah’s ear.
"You better look after yourself and give me good results. Oh, and keep away from the next experiment. I know you saw the files."
Ethan’s mother finally pulled back from the hug and gave Noah a warm smile.
"Once again, I will leave my Ethan to you. Please look after him well."
After saying this, she disappeared, and Noah was left behind, staring at her back.
He let out a sigh and then turned toward the other two standing behind him.
"Shall we get going now? I suddenly have no desire to be here anymore."
The pair nodded and followed him out quickly enough. But the one who looked the most relieved after being able to get away was Ethan.
The esper let out a sigh as he followed Noah toward the car.
"You have no idea how relieved I feel to be heading back to the academy after all this. My parents are not bad, but they sure have weird tastes. Not that I think you are weird or anything, Noah."
Ethan quickly corrected himself before he could offend Noah. But Noah had no intention of feeling anything anymore.
So he just smiled frankly at Ethan, which no one noticed.
"It’s fine. Your parents are lovely, but they sure don’t look like you—"
"That’s because I was a test-tube baby born through a surrogate. I am their DNA, that much I am sure of. I even got it tested when I was little."
Ethan must have heard this more than once to have gotten it tested, and Noah felt like he had made a mistake.
So he decided to head back to the academy while keeping his mouth shut after that.
...
Being back in the guide building made it feel like it had been forever. But considering the fact that they had lived in either the medical wing or Alan’s room, it had been a while since he had been back.
Noah let out a sigh as he decided to head back to his assigned ’room’ for now when Daniel caught his wrist and started to drag him toward his room.
"N-Noah, what are you doing? Hey, I want to go sleep in my room—"
"Your room is with me. We are roommates, so why would you head to another room? Just stay with me for now."
Daniel did not give Noah any chance to argue before he pulled him into the room, and Noah could only stumble after him while trying his best not to trip over his own feet.
"Daniel, wait! I can walk by myself."
"I know you can."
"Then why are you dragging me?"
"Because you look like you are about to collapse."
Noah immediately straightened his back after hearing those words, determined to prove that Daniel was wrong about him.
"I am fine."
Daniel stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at him with an expression that made Noah realise just how unconvincing his words must have sounded.
"You have been saying that a lot lately. But then you went ahead and collapsed on me. I am just worried about you."
Noah opened his mouth to argue again, but he quickly closed it when he realised that he had no proper excuse to give him.
Seeing how he had no response, Daniel did what he wanted to do and dragged Noah back toward his room.
Daniel finally released Noah’s wrist after they entered the room, and Noah immediately walked toward the nearest bed because his body was still exhausted and all he wanted was to lie down for a while.
However, before he could even sit properly, Daniel crossed his arms and looked at him with an expression that immediately made Noah feel like he was about to be interrogated.
"What happened while we were at Ethan’s house?"
Noah froze at the question.
For a few seconds, the room remained completely silent, and Noah could feel Daniel’s gaze fixed on him.
Daniel narrowed his eyes slightly before continuing.
"You disappeared in the middle of the night, came back looking like you had been dragged through hell, and then suddenly became sick the next morning. Now you are standing here pretending that nothing happened."
Noah swallowed nervously.
He had known this question would eventually come, but he had hoped that he would have a little more time before Daniel decided to confront him about it.
"I told you that I was not feeling well."
Daniel stared at him for several seconds before he finally sighed.
"I do not believe you."
Noah’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly looked away while trying to think of another excuse that would not make Daniel even more suspicious.
"Can you not bullshit with me once? Do you think I am going to take this as an excuse?"
Daniel asked as he caged Noah between himself and the bed frame. He looked angry...no, rather disappointed at what was happening. His eyes looked at Noah as if he had been betrayed by him.
"Noah, am I truly that untrustworthy that you cannot confide in me? I know I am not as outgoing or firm as Alan, but surely I am not that bad that you don’t even want to talk to me?"
Daniel looked crushed as he kept Noah in that position. It made Noah feel uncomfortable, but not in a bad way.
In fact, he felt far too aware of Daniel at the moment, and he watched those long lashes fluttering in front of him while his heart skipped a beat.
