Chapter 110: Ch 110: A huge explosion

The insatiable esper rushed toward them, but slammed into an invisible wall, which he tried to punch down. The esper had lost his mind badly enough to the point where he could not tell what he was doing anymore.

"H-Hand it...over...the guide...hand it...over..."

The esper repeated himself a few times, and his mouth soon began to foam, indicating that something was wrong with him.

These were all symptoms of a lack of guiding, but for the situation to turn this bad was not normal.

"Noah, close your eyes."

Alan grabbed Noah and turned him around to push his face into his chest. Meanwhile, he spread his power across the place before he started to smash the esper attacking them.

Noah’s heart skipped a beat in fear and agitation, but he had a feeling that Alan was trying to end this esper’s life.

’This is not good! I know Alan means well, but I cannot allow him to kill this esper. Especially not when he might be a key witness in what is happening here.’

Noah gripped Alan’s shirt tighter and tugged at it. Alan did not turn to look at him, but Noah knew that he had Alan’s attention right now.

"Do not kill this kid. We will still need him when we collect evidence of what is happening here. So can you try and capture him without killing him or injuring him too much?"

Noah knew his demand was a little too much, so he did not expect Alan to follow it. But Alan sighed before he pushed Noah back a little and then turned toward the esper who had lost his mind.

He snapped his finger, and the esper let out a scream before he collapsed.

No one moved for a minute, and then other espers and teachers started to crowd around the no-longer-conscious esper.

"Everyone, maintain your distance from here. We shall take care of this."

For someone who was incompetent and unwilling to even interact until now, the teachers sure acted like they were doing everyone a huge favor by taking over now. But complaining was not going to resolve anything.

Especially since the main threat, the bomb, had yet to be found.

’I hope that Erin and Ethan have better luck than this. Right now, they are the only ones who can find that bomb for us.’

Noah trusted them both. They wouldn’t let him down.

Unfortunately, even they did not have good news for him. Because within 10 minutes of this esper accident, another explosion went off.

And this time, it was on a completely different scale.

Noah felt weaker when the impact of the bomb passed over him. It felt like all the guiding was being sucked out of him, and it felt painful.

"What is this...?"

Noah complained as he clutched his chest and heaved. He felt like he was about to puke because of the feeling of his guiding being sucked out.

But if he was having such an impact, how about others? The espers would-

"Ugh, it hurts. Noah, it hurts. Please help me out."

Alan collapsed on his back, his voice soft and filled with pain. Anyone could tell that he was not doing well right now.

But he still had enough mental capacity left to not suck Noah dry outright like the other espers around them had started to do.

’This is not good. I need to get out of here. Daniel...I need to find Daniel before...it is too late...’

But the grip Alan had on him was too tight. The esper was not allowing Noah to move much, which made it difficult for him to move.

Noah struggled against Alan’s grip, but the esper refused to let him go. Alan was already in a weakened state, yet his strength was still far beyond what Noah could handle.

"Alan, let me go. I need to find Daniel."

"No."

Alan’s answer came immediately, and Noah stared at him in disbelief.

"Why not? He could be hurt."

"Because you are already struggling to stand, and I can barely control my powers right now. If I let you go, I might end up hurting you without realizing it."

Alan’s voice sounded strained, and Noah could tell that he was struggling to maintain control.

’Damn it, he is right.’

Noah looked around at the chaos surrounding them and noticed that several espers had already lost control. Guides were desperately trying to escape while others were being overwhelmed by the espers around them.

This was much worse than he had expected.

"Alan, listen to me carefully. I need you to hold on for a little longer."

"Why? I don’t want to..."

"I need to find Daniel, and I need to make sure he is safe. After that, we can get out of here and he can guide you-"

Alan stared at him for a few seconds before finally nodding.

"But I don’t need him to guide me. I want you to guide me.-"

"I won’t be able to. I don’t have enough strength."

Noah lied and Alan fell quiet. It was a silent way for him to give up. Instead, he kept a barrier around them both to stop anyone else from approaching them."

Noah turned his head and desperately searched through the crowd, hoping to find even a glimpse of Daniel.

’Please be alright.’

Then, through the chaos, Noah finally sensed a familiar presence.

His eyes widened.

"Daniel!"

He immediately tried to move toward him, but Alan tightened his grip around Noah’s waist.

"Wait! Noah, something is wrong."

Before Noah could ask what he meant, another wave of energy suddenly spread across the festival grounds.

And this time, Noah could feel something much more terrifying hidden within it.

"I-I won’t be able to control myself any longer. Just give me anything...before I lose my mind..."

Alan complained and he gritted his teeth to keep himself from losing his mind. Pain was the only thing that was allowing the SSS-grade esper from losing focus and turning this whole academy into a burial ground.
