[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 101: Ch 101: The Festival Preparations
"We will divide the work into several teams. Usually, we leave the planning and team division to the students, but this year, we have decided to do something special. We will divide you into teams ourselves to extract your full potential. Does anyone have any complaints about this?"
Everyone in the class raised their hands, including Alan and Daniel.
Noah also followed the masses and raised his hand in order to not stick out. But honestly, he did not care if the teachers chose the teams or not, as long as he, Alan, and Daniel got to stick together.
After all, he needed to keep an eye on the pair to ensure they were getting along well.
"Tsk, what ungrateful students I have. All I want to do is help you, but if this is the result, then I might as well not help you all out."
The teacher tried to make the students feel threatened, but she sounded too defeated to come across as threatening.
However, even that felt like something the teachers anticipated because they quickly changed the topic.
"Well, unfortunately, these things have been decided. Now, I will divide you all into teams. Check your color in front of your name on the board. It will be the team you belong to."
Their teacher tapped the board, and soon, names started to appear. Most students let out a groan of annoyance as they noticed where their name was situated.
Of course, Alan and Daniel were the same. But luckily, they were in a team.
As for Noah...
"Why are you in another team all by yourself? And what even is the ’helper’ crew?"
Alan and Daniel were in the finance committee, while Noah was in the helper crew, which sounded ominous enough.
"Students, did you get a good look at your role? Now, listen carefully. This festival is a joint venture with the upper-class students, but it is also a competition in which you all will be preparing separately to see which year has a better festival experience. Good luck with this. And Helper Crew, please come and see me after class. I will be the teacher in charge of you all."
Their classroom teacher smiled, and Noah felt a shiver go down his spine. He did not like the smile on their teacher’s face.
Daniel must have felt similarly because he shivered as soon as he noticed their teacher’s smile.
"That woman is planning something. Noah, maybe you should not go. If you are going to get a penalty or marks deduction, try and take it this time."
Noah wanted to do that as well. But unfortunately, he had a feeling their teacher wouldn’t allow this.
"I guess it would be better if I just follow along for now."
Noah pointed out, reminding Alan and Daniel subtly that their teachers were not ones to shy away from using dangerous and unfair means to get what they wanted.
His words made both Daniel and Alan flinch subtly before Daniel let out a curse.
"Fuck it! Let’s just not do what they want and use their retaliation as evidence and corner them."
"Or, maybe it will be better to go with the flow for now. I don’t want to miss too many classes."
Ethan, who had been a victim of their teachers, still did not come back to class for now. When Noah had gone to check on him, Ethan had complained that he felt too weak to come to class.
And for the first time, Noah felt inclined to believe him, so he let him be.
Still, Noah had a feeling this festival was going to turn out to be a mess.
...
Noah, along with two other guides, reached their teacher’s office, and one of them knocked at the door with a nervous expression.
It had taken Noah some time and a lot of effort to get Daniel and Alan to back off and allow him to come here alone. But even he felt nervous about what he would face.
’Let’s try and be brave this time. I doubt the teacher would do anything to me in front of the other students. I am going to be safe...’
Noah reminded himself as he opened the door after a few minutes of hearing no voice from inside. He felt a little nervous as he and the other students stepped into their teacher’s office.
The same teacher who had not answered them was looking at them all as if they were flies that had fallen into her trap.
"Ah, welcome, students. You can take your seats for now, and we can get started. First, let me show you what your duties will be for the next few days until the festival starts."
The teacher had a sugary smile on her face, but Noah had a bad feeling about her.
"Ah, don’t look so nervous. Your duties are simple. All you need to do is run a little back and forth between your year and the senior one in order to facilitate proper communication. You were chosen because of your mild temperament. I am sure you won’t disappoint me."
Noah stared at the teacher with a blank expression.
’Mild temperament?’
He almost wanted to laugh.
If this teacher knew how many times Noah had been dragged into dangerous situations since arriving at the academy, she would probably reconsider her choice.
’But then again, most of those situations were caused by them, so I doubt they care much.’
Still, Noah did not say anything. He simply nodded and accepted the documents she handed him.
"Of course, teacher. We will do our best."
The teacher’s smile widened.
"I knew I could count on you three."
Noah resisted the urge to sigh.
There was something about that smile that made him feel like he had just walked into a trap without realizing it.
The other two guides also received their assignments, and soon the teacher began explaining what they needed to do.
Noah had a feeling that this task was going to be troublesome. Otherwise, why would their teacher have stressed that she chose students with ’mild temperament’.
It was clear that they were going to be punching bags here.
’Tsk, the things I do for love and my freedom.’
