Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline
Chapter 49: The Chase
She didn’t expect that at the last moment Max would run away. He had tremendous killing intent, and it seemed he was ready to die battling her, and yet at the last moment he chose to run away, which caught her off guard.
She looked at the Max who already had reached the main road, running like it was the end of the world, and couldn’t smile.
"Run! Run as far as you can, but you were already in my palm." She muttered, looking at the running Max.
Max, on the other hand, didn’t even dare to look back; all his focus was on running away, and he was now quite an expert, as he had mostly just been running since transmigration.
As he ran, he couldn’t help but curse his luck.
’Why the hell do other protagonists get easy enemies after transmigrating?’
’They awaken some overpowered ability and immediately start crushing everyone around them.’
’And what about me?’
’Every damn time I think I’ve become strong, an even more terrifying monster appears!’
’Can’t I have an easy opponent for once?!’
He could only curse and run; he needed to find others, as maybe with others he would be able to face this witch.
She shouldn’t be very strong, as she seemed to be hiding and tried to do something to Jules, so he still had a chance.
She should be the same as him and should not have reached the transformation realm equivalent of spiritual awakeners; otherwise, he would be dead just now, and she didn’t need to hide from anything.
Although the Flameheart City is strong and has many transformation realm experts, ultimately, from what he learned, there isn’t anyone above the transformation realm. If she had reached a similar realm, she really wouldn’t have needed to hide, as spiritual awakeners are almost invincible in the same realm.
As long as she wasn’t at that level, Max still had a chance.
He continued running through the city, crossing the main roads and weaving through narrow streets lined with small shops and houses.
Only after he had travelled quite a distance without sensing anyone pursuing him did Max finally slow down.
He glanced behind him.
There was no sign of the woman; only then did Max let out a long breath.
"Looks like she really didn’t follow me..."
He really needed to find others, even if it was possible to inform the experts of the transformation realm. They should be able to handle it even though she was a spiritual awakener.
But just as he was about to move, the cold yet alluring voice of the witch rang from above. "Where are you going, my hero? How can you leave a beautiful lady alone in this dangerous beast tide?"
He felt chills as he looked up and saw the witch levitating right above him. He didn’t expect her to catch up with him this quickly, and she was actually flying.
"Damm! That’s cheating."
Max’s expression became ugly.
She had stopped his spear in midair earlier without even touching it. Since the abilities of Spiritual Awakeners seemed to be related to the soul or mind, he could only assume she possessed some form of telekinesis.
And if she could manipulate objects with her mind, flying was probably nothing particularly difficult for her.
But it means she is really troublesome, as telekinesis is quite useful; maybe it wouldn’t be very powerful to raze castles or create tornadoes, as she wasn’t a spiritual awakener of the high realm, but it was also a very versatile power along with those weird means.
"You are quite a terrifying lady, so you would be alright alone." As he said that, he fired blood bullets immediately.
Bang! Bang!
She seemed to expect that, and the black leather gloves in her hand suddenly glowed with a light blue aura. And immediately, a transparent blue barrier appeared right in front of her.
Boom! Boom!
Max’s blood bullet, which had the power of a small cannon and the ability to penetrate armour and beasts’ tough hide, was blocked with ease. The transparent blue barrier easily blocked this attack.
Max couldn’t help cursing as she seemed to have spiritual items. She is fucking strong and rich, and he knows if he fights alone he might really die here, and his corpse would become her prized possession.
So, he can only do his old job, and then he immediately ran. He needed to find others and attack hers by their combined strength.
"No, you aren’t going anywhere!" And she immediately followed him through the air. But Max couldn’t let her feel good; he continued to attack her with his blood bullets.
The only thing he could do was try to maintain distance as he continued to run and eventually find some help.
She also immediately understood what he was trying to do, and she couldn’t let him do that. Her expression became slightly colder.
She reached toward her thigh. Five small daggers suddenly flew out from the pockets attached to her outfit.
The daggers floated around her body, suspended in midair. A faint blue glow surrounded each blade.
She pointed toward Max.
"Go."
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The five daggers instantly shot forward. Their speed was astonishing.
They tore through the air like five streaks of light, rapidly closing the distance between them and Max.
Max’s expression changed as he saw those daggers coming towards him. He used the blood boost ability, improved his speed and reflexes, and started to shoot blood bullets.
He aimed at those incoming daggers and fired.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He hit three of the five daggers, knocking them away, leaving the two that almost hit him as he used his acrobatic reflexes to dodge them at the last moment. But they didn’t stop and continued to run.
This annoyed her, and many such small daggers appeared around her, and she attacked again and again. The daggers shot forward like streaks of silver light.
Max gritted his teeth.
He continued running while firing blood bullets at the incoming weapons.
The chase quickly turned into a flashy battle through the streets of Flameheart City.
