Boom!

Their attack clashed as the magnificent silver blade energy and the oppressive crimson blood energy collided, and a massive explosion instantly destroyed almost half of the restaurant’s second floor.

The dust and smoke covered the second floor, and slowly, from the smoke, Max’s figure emerged.

He was still standing tall, although his clothes were a bit torn, but his aura hadn’t weakened at all as he looked at the lying figure in the rubble.

The Silverblade Family’s bloodline awakener wasn’t in good condition, as he was lying in the rubble and covered in blood with a gaping hole in his chest.

He coughed blood as he was still alive but looked at Max with horror, as he didn’t expect him to have an attack like this.

He had never expected Max to possess such terrifying physical strength and the ability to control blood.

The Silverblade warrior’s eyes widened.

With such terrifying physical strength and powerful blood manipulation, there was no doubt that Max’s bloodline was extraordinary.

At the very least, it shouldn’t be a low-rank bloodline. It might even be a B-rank bloodline—or perhaps something even higher.

For the first time, the Silverblade bloodline awakener realised that the commoner standing before him was far more dangerous than anyone in the Silverblade Family had imagined.

But sadly, he wouldn’t be able to tell that to the Silverblade family. His injuries were too severe to survive, and he was just on his last breath as he was slowly losing his remaining consciousness. But there was still a glimmer of hope in those dead eyes.

As he was about to fully deal with the Silverblade bloodline awakener.

But at that moment—

Swish!

A dagger suddenly flew toward him from behind.

Max was shocked as he didn’t feel anyone and was too late to dodge it fully, but at the last moment he twisted his body enough to shift the dagger’s trajectory.

Instead of piercing his heart, the dagger stabbed into his upper shoulder.

"You’re something; even at the last moment you avoided the worst outcome." The woman’s voice rang from behind.

Max immediately knew this voice, as it was the one he just saved a bit before. But he was careful, as he felt she was weird, and yet for some reason he wasn’t able to sense her presence just now.

He looked back and saw the woman with a whip, wearing a tight black leather outfit like some sexy dominatrix, slowly coming toward him. Her aura now was completely different, not like some weak, pitiful woman but a sexy, domineering woman.

She looked at the almost dead Silverblade bloodline awakener with an alluring smile. "Didn’t expect to see the mighty Jules Silverblade dying."

Then her gaze returned to Max.

"But what’s even more surprising is finding someone as strong as you among the rogue Bloodline Awakeners."

She looked Max up and down with clear interest.

"Sigh, I really wanted a slave like you. A young, strong body with seemingly limitless endurance. You know you are a perfect toy for every woman’s desire, but sadly I had to kill you."

She slowly raised her whip. "Your talent is too strong to be under a leash, but don’t worry, I will take care of your body perfectly."

"And for you, it’s such a waste," she said, looking at the dying Jules Silverblade.

Jules’s expression changed. Before he could react, the woman’s power suddenly erupted.

His soul was violently torn from his body. Jules’s eyes widened in horror. Only then did he realise that he had been deceived from the very beginning.

With the last of his strength, he forced out a few words.

"You aren’t... a Bloodline Awaken..."

Before he could finish, the final trace of consciousness disappeared from his eyes. Jules Silverblade died.

Silence descended over the ruined room.

And just after Jules died, his body seemed to start rotting, and in a matter of seconds it seemed to shrink and become a rotting, mummified corpse. His face remained frozen in an expression of absolute horror.

Max’s expression became extremely serious as he stared at the mysterious woman. This woman seemed more dangerous than he expected. His shoulder was still bleeding from the dagger wound, but he barely cared about that.

He wasn’t able to understand what the hell was going on, but he remembered Jules’ words that she might not be a Bloodline Awakener; then only one thing was the answer.

She was a ’Spiritual Awakener.’

This made him more alert, as he didn’t know much about spiritual awakeners. There was too much of a knowledge gap, as they seemed to have very weird abilities.

She seemed not to care about the grave look on Max’s face. But instead she started to talk to Max. "Sigh, you know how much time I wasted on Jules, but it was mostly wasted; with you here it might not be that bad."

"Such a powerful aura, ancient one with that. You will be a perfect creation."

Max held his spear tightly and was on his edge as he couldn’t figure this woman out. Her aura was completely different; her blood energy seemed very weak, just like any ordinary woman without the strength to kill even a wild dog.

But he knew that wasn’t the case; she was dangerous, very dangerous. He didn’t want to fight an unknown enemy, and how Jules died gives him the creeps.

After fighting nonstop for three days, just as he felt a bit confident, he met with this unexpected monstress.

And remembered the words of warning from Mr. Corvus: ’When dealing with spiritual awakeners, you might not even know how you died.’

He looked at her as she still had a calm yet mysterious aura around her, as she seemed to be thinking about her experiment. He didn’t wait any longer; he tightly held his spear and then suddenly threw it towards her and then dashed forward.

Whoosh!

The spear shot toward the woman like a crimson streak.

"Oh," this sudden all-out attack didn’t shock her. She just raised her hand towards the incoming flying spear, and then it just stopped mid-air right in front of her as if some invisible force held it on.

The woman’s lips curled into a faint smile.

But Max was already charging toward her. She prepared herself to face his incoming attack.

However—

Max suddenly changed direction. His body twisted in midair. He passed beside her and jumped directly from the second floor.

The woman froze for a moment.
