Uncle." said Morgan. His tone cold.

"Morgan. I just want you to know this is nothing personal," said Rudrick. The slim, blue serpent wrapped gently around Rudrick’s arm.

"Yet here you are, trying to take my life."

"Like I said. It’s nothing personal."

Morgan whispered to Beare, voice low.

"Go after him. I’ll take his serpent..."

"You don’t have to tell me that," hissed Beare. She launched at Rudrick, fangs bared.

The snake shot past Beare like she was nothing. It slid straight for Morgan.

"You’re underestimating me!!!" Roared Beare. She swung her sickles at Rudrick repeatedly, but he dodged every strike Effortlessly

She kept swinging, wild and desperate. But her hand slammed into the stone.

*CRUNCH.*

It got completely stuck.

Rudrick’s eyes flashed. He lifted his leg like an axe and drove it down.

*BOOM!!!*

Beare’s body slammed into the mountain wall. Stone cracked. She carved a trench into the rock. Blood poured from her mouth.

_He’s this strong—_

But Rudrick didn’t relent. He kept slamming into her.

Until—

*CRACK!!*

Beare’s left arm snapped.

Her body dragged along the wall, carving a trench. If Rudrick wanted, he could’ve kicked her off the cliff into Raymond’s fire. But he was cruel. He wanted Morgan to see it. He wanted to prove that there’s no such thing as "found family" if you’re a Calamity.

*BLERGH!!*

Beare coughed more blood.

Seeing Beare on the brink of death, Morgan started fighting harder.

But Rudrick’s serpent was too strong. And worse — it didn’t transform. It stayed in its small form.

That made it impossible for Morgan to land a hit with his scythe.

When small, it was inhumanly agile and Nimble.

Every strike that should’ve been fatal, the serpent would just twirl and wrap around the scythe.

Gilbert and Raymond weren’t having it easy either. After all, this was a Berserker serpent king. After having enough, both Raymond and Gilbert changed tactics

"Sire. Lend me your strength!!" roared Gilbert.

Raymond flew off the top of the snake and landed beside Gilbert.

Then, with perfect synchronicity both said:

"CALAMITY FIFTH WAVE:"

It felt like the air changed. Pressure dropped. The mountain went silent.

Rudrick was about to deal Beare the final blow when he froze.

He felt it as well

A dual fifth Wave

A Dual Fifth Wave was rarely achieved. Two people blend their Fifth Waves together. Like two souls submerged into one.

If you failed, you didn’t just die. You were erased from reality. Like you never existed.

For Gilbert and Raymond, Gilbert was the dominant one. Because Raymond hadn’t opened his Fifth Wave.

Even the water serpent sensed it.

*ROAR!!!!*

The serpent launched at them. Useless.

Reality warped.

They were no longer on the mountain cliffside.

They were inside the Fifth Wave.

In that moment, Raymond fused with Gilbert. They became one individual.

"What’s happening?" asked Morgan. Everyone froze. Everyone was just staring at Gilbert. Or what was left of him.

"Gilbert??" asked Morgan.

"I am no longer Gilbert... I am Gilbertos."

"Gilber what?"

Gilbertos didn’t wait for the shock to pass. He launched at the incoming water serpent. Both spears in hand.

The golden one humming with insane energy.

The serpent opened its mouth, trying to swallow Gilbertos whole.

In a blink, Gilbertos vanished.

Then reappeared right at the back of the serpent.

*THRUUT!!!!!*

Using the blue spear, Gilbertos plunged it into the snake’s backbone. Then dragged it down.

*ROAR!!!!!*

The serpent’s hardened scales were useless. The blue spear sang as it cut deeper, splitting flesh and revealing bone.

Blood rained down like a storm.

The other Calamities were beyond shock. Fear gripped them so hard some of their legs began to shake.

Because in this form, Gilbertos had effortlessly killed a Berserker Serpent King.

After that immense slash and blood loss, the serpent’s body went limp.

It fell back into the river with a deafening—

*BAAM!!*

Amidst the rainfall of blood, Gilbertos stood on top of the fallen king’s head. His gaze lifted to the sky.

Rudrick stopped fighting Morgan. He just stared at Gilbertos with an unreadable expression.

He let go of Beare’s body. She fell down like a bag of sacks.

Morgan felt uneasy too.

"I will sacrifice you all for my master to unlock his Fifth Wave," said Gilbertos. His tone was absolute.

All the Calamities who heard this started running.

"All your attempts to escape are futile. Sacrifice your worthless lives to my master!!!"
