"What is he talking about" said Luke, perched on the highest branch of the tallest tree in the Forbidden Forest, watching the entire mountain from above

"That is why I hate the Noble Houses, especially Drakell" said a man beside him, old, grey hair and white beard

"Even so, achieving a Dual Fifth Wave is applaudable... but that begs the question, can Morgan live"

"The child is blessed by the system, for him to so easily open his Fifth Wave with just a bargain"

"An absurd one for that matter" cut Luke

"Makes him truly special, I believe he has what it takes to truly help us in our vision"

"So should I help him or..."

"No, not yet, I believe he can beat them" said the bearded old man

The bearded man smiled, then tapped Luke on the shoulder

"Protect him, but allow him to grow as well, Morgan Liues is the first, aside from you to truly receive such a rare blessing"

"His is even rarer than mine" smiled Luke

"Yeah whatever, protect him, I’ve been out long enough, I think Fahai might’ve even sensed me by now" said the grey haired man, then disappearing into thin air

"Maybe" muttered Luke "Morgan is what we really need to end this madness"

Meanwhile Morgan and Rudrick both abandoned the thought of fighting each other, instead both faced the common foe, Gilbertos

With two spears in his hands, Gilbertos smiled, wide and evil

"CALAMITY FIFTH WAVE SACRIFICE: BEGIN"

Suddenly in mid day the sun darkened and turned blood red, an invisible barrier began forming, surrounding every single Calamity in the area, sealing the cliff, the lake, the mountain

"We need to stop this" said Morgan, Beare heavy on his back "Uncle if we don’t stop this, Gilbertos is going to kill us"

Rudrick stayed quiet for a while, pondering, then slowly smiled

"Sometimes I wonder if you’re an actual kid"

"I’m not a kid" retorted Morgan

After the barrier formed a screen popped up in the sky, visible to everyone

[INITIAL AMOUNT REQUIRED TO UNLOCK FIFTH WAVE: 50]

It was as if the system already knew, there were exactly fifty of them, Morgan and Rudrick included

The spears in Gilbertos’ hands cracked from the middle, chains burst out and connected both halves, now he wielded two chained double spears that spun like buzzsaws

He started spinning, and the chains shot out, cutting through the air and through bodies, Calamities screamed as they were torn apart midair, blood misted the red sky

Those on the cliffside were barely safe, those who had fallen into the lake were already dead anyways

Morgan bent down and threw unconscious Beare on his back, then started running toward the far end of the cliff

"It’s pointless running" said Rudrick, eyes locked on Gilbertos "This is a sacrificial ground, the only way to escape is to kill the one who initiated the sacrifice"

"But—"

Suddenly Gilbertos flew and landed right at the cliff edge, blocking them, both chained spears surging with black and gold lightning

"CALAMITY FIFTH WAVE: SERPENT’S EVOLUTION!!" Said Rudrick. His serpent coiled and wrapped around his body like armor

The moment Gilbertos moved the air exploded, and the world couldn’t keep up, the chained spears whipped out and slammed into the cliff, stone instantly vaporized, Rudrick barely caught one chain with his bare hand and the impact sent cracks through his Fifth Wave Snake Armor

"Strong" muttered Rudrick, blood dripping from his palm

Gilbertos grinned and yanked, dragging Rudrick across the stone and slamming him into Morgan

Both of them skidded and crashed into the lake with such power that all the water rose up, leaving the lake completely dried up, then after a second the water fell right back into the lake. This killed even more Calamities which made the barrier above pulse, feeding off the deaths below, the counter on the sky screen ticked down 50...49...48

"Get off me" growled Rudrick, shoving Morgan up "You’re in the way"

"I can fight" snapped Morgan, his scythe shaking in his hand

"Then fight" Rudrick said and just launched forward without even waiting for reply, blue aura erupting, his serpent armor shining with even greater power. With his power rapidly rising both of them clashed midair

BOOM!!!

The clash shook the mountain, Gilbertos spun his chained spears and met Rudrick’s serpent armor, they clashed and clashed, each strike tore chunks out of the cliff, each dodge left shockwaves that sent weaker Calamities flying into the barrier where they disintegrated

Rudrick was fast, ruthless, but Gilbertos was something else, two souls in one body, moving with perfect prediction, the golden spear burned and the blue spear cut, and every time Rudrick got close the chains wrapped and pulled and slammed him into the earth with a deafening sound

Morgan watched. Even with his Fifth Wave active he couldn’t fully grasp how fast they were. It was more like a blur to him

"I... I’ll just be a distraction"

Said Morgan, his grip on his scythe weakening

Suddenly the water moved

The Berserker King wasn’t dead yet

Its massive black body rose slowly from the blood, one eye open, blood red and furious, its backbone still split from Gilbertos but it was healing, slowly and painfully

Morgan’s breath caught

"Beare hold on" he whispered, setting her down behind a rock

He turned and ran straight at the serpent, scythe dragging, every step felt like his legs would give out. Hadn’t he been in Calamity Fifth Wave, that punch Gilbertos did would have completely killed him

The serpent roared and lunged. It was surprisingly fast even after being injured

Morgan didn’t dodge, he dove and rolled under, and then drove his scythe up into the split in its backbone where Gilbertos had cut

He screamed and twisted

Black blood exploded, the serpent thrashed and threw him, but it was too late, the wound opened wider and wider until the King collapsed, dead for real this time

And the moment it died

He felt a sudden rush of power into him. Blue light flooded Morgan’s vision, power rushed into him, his scythe hummed and pulsed faster than usual

But he barely had time to breathe because above him

CRACK

Rudrick was on his knees, his serpent armor had completely shattered. Leaving his snake battered and on the brink of death

Gilbertos stood over him, both chained spears dripping with blood

"You are strong. But you do not have what it takes to defeat me" said Gilbertos softly

Then he raised both spears for the final strike

Morgan turned, eyes wide, power from the First Wave still burning in his veins

"RUDRICK!!"
