Chapter 864: Back Again

Bai Wenxuan watched her leave and did not stop her. Indeed, if he wanted to blame someone, then he could only blame Yang Wei. sighing, he asked the bodyguard behind him to push him back to the mansion, where Fox was already waiting for him.

"I hope you did not end up offending her?" Fox asked while reading a book. He finally found it after looking for it for a long time. So with his legs propped on the table, he happily read through the content while waiting for Bai Wenxuan.

Looking at his languid state, Bai Wenxuan did not even want to look at him. With a disgusted glance, he said in a low voice, "I don’t know whether or not I offended her but I have a feeling that you have offended me quite a bit."

Fox raised his head and looked at Bai Wenxuan lazily. "You are being too judgemental, really. My shoes are clean; I made sure that they were dirt-free when I came inside the mansion. Anyway, even if I make a mess, someone will come to clean it up in the morning. So don’t think too much."

Bai Wenxuan glared at the man and then silently turned his head to one side. He had no intention of talking to this man anymore; even looking at him was a tiresome task. How could he talk with him? Fox did not even make any sense when he spoke!

"It seems like even if you did not offend her, you ended up separating on bad terms. Tsk, tsk. You are really too much; she is your cousin and I am sure that she is better than that fake cousin of yours. So why don’t you treat Miss Bai fairly? Look at you always wearing that scorn on your face. If others did not know better, they would think that they owe you a million yuan." Fox had no idea why Bai Wenxuan was so against Bai Meiyue. Clearly, she was better than Bai Lingling in every way but he was still guarded against her so much.

Just what was wrong with him?

Bai Wenxuan did not say anything. It wasn’t that he was against Bai Meiyue; he just could not accept Bai Meiyue in his heart. That woman was too opinionated and she was quite different from the women close to him. What was more, he had no way to connect with her because Bai Meiyue did not want anything from him. All his life, it had always been a give-and-take relationship for him. Everyone who came close to him, they just wanted to take advantage of him.

Thus, that was how he was able to socially function. But Bai Meiyue was different. She did not want anything from him. Because of this very reason, he did not know how to deal with her. What was more, Bai Meiyue kept him at a distance, which only made it even more impossible for him to get closer to her.

Sensing the reluctance in the eyes of his good friend, Fox shook his head. He got up from the couch and patted the man on the shoulders. "You need to be a bit more excited; you have finally found your real aunt and cousins. Looking at you, you are treating them like they are some sort of strangers. Don’t forget that it is your Bai family who owes Aunt Yan and not the other way around."

Bai Wenxuan flushed red when he heard Fox’s response. He knew what the man said was correct but there was no need to say it out loud like that. It was as if he had torn off the last fig.

"I understand." Even though he was upset, there was something that Bai Wenxuan could not say.

On the other hand, Bai Meiyue had no idea that Bai Wenxuan had such complicated emotions when it came to her. If she had known, then she would have told him that there was no need for him to think too much. She had no expectations from him and neither did her mother have any expectations when it came to the Bai family. Even if they stayed far from one another, Bai Meiyue would not think that there was anything wrong.

"Yueyue, are you up?" As soon as she walked out of the room, she saw Bai Zhan running toward her and looking at his panicked state, she knew that there was something amiss. Bai Meiyue frowned hard. "What happened?" It was still dawn and even the sun had not risen. What kind of trouble started to rise so soon?

Bai Zhan’s face turned dark. "It’s Captain Xu; he actually returned with his people. He also brought more human-faced spiders with him. Meng Suisui and the rest of the ability users are still tired; how can they fight with them after working ror the entire night? That man clearly wants to cause trouble for us." This was nothing less than coercion. That man knew that they could not withstand continuous attacks, so he was bringing in so many human faced spiders again and again because he wanted Bai Meiyue to back down and take him and his team back.

That man was clearly shameless!

When Bai Meiyue heard her brother’s response, her eyes darkened. She knew that the man would not leave her alone but she never expected that Captain Xu was like a mad dog. What was he even trying to do? It hadn’t been more than twelve hours since he came to their safe base to cause trouble and he was back at it again?

Bai Meiyue never expected that Captain Xu would be this crazy. Anyone with a sane mind would think of resting for a few days before causing trouble. But who would have thought that Captain Xu did not have such a state of mind, he actually came up with such a vicious plan to attack their safe base. That man was truly mad! He did not want to rest but actually wanted to cause trouble for her.
