Chapter 863: A Simple Solution

Bai Meiyue left the watchtower; she had been working too hard and wanted to rest a little. However, as she headed toward her mansion, she ran into Bai Wenxuan, who was waiting for her a while. When Bai Meiyue saw the man waiting for her, she could not help but frown a little. "What are you doing here?"

"Miss Bai, I wanted to ask if you can help me arrange a wet nurse for my son?" Bai Wenxuan originally wanted to question Bai Meiyue about why she stopped the nurses from the hospital from taking care of his son but soon, he received an answer from Fox.

"What do you mean by why she asked them to stop? Isn’t it normal for them to stop feeding your son? His mother is right next to him and yet he needs a wet nurse to take care of him? And that too for free? Do you think that these are the same times as before where everyone would rush to please your family?"

Though what Fox said was harsh, Bai Wenxuan had to admit that what he said was the truth. Bai Meiyue did not owe him anything. Even if they were from one family, he had never done anything for Bai Meiyue and it was wrong for him to expect that the woman would do something for him. Why would she? She had no reason to work hard for their family especially when the people back in the capital were actually trying to scheme against her.

Yang Wei did not say anything to him or Fox when she arrived at the safe base but he knew that she was most likely sent by his grandmother because she wanted to use the biological connections that she had with Yan Wanning and Bai Meiyue to her benefit. He knew better than anyone what kind of person his grandmother was.

Bai Meiyue arched a brow. She crossed her arms and shook her head with a solemn look on her face. "Master Bai, I will be honest with you. There are no wet nurses in the safe base; the women who were taking care of your son were just some kindhearted women who took pity on your son. I did not ask them to take care of him; of course, I also did not let them take care of your son for free."

"But ultimately it was their decision and had little to do with me. If they stopped feeding your son, then it must be because they are running out of milk supply. This is nothing personal."

Bai Meiyue knew that the man must have misunderstood the intentions of the two wet nurses. However, as someone who had been keeping an eye on Bai Wenxuan’s child, she knew that the two women’s children were older than Bai Wenxuan. Surely, their milk supply was getting drier after feeding two children at once; that was why they handed the child back to his mother. In their mind, no matter how bad Yang Wei was, she was the boy’s mother in the end; she would surely feed him.

Who would have thought that Yang Wei would be such a wilful woman that she would ignore her own son? There was nothing she could do about this matter. It was the choice of those women if they wanted to feed Xiao Bao but if they did not want to feed him, she could not force them either. This was their personal matter.

"You mean...you did not ask them to stop?" Bai Wenxuan was a bit troubled. Earlier he thought that he could just ask Bai Meiyue to intervene and the matter would be solved but if it was not the case, then it would be really troublesome.

"Of course not." Bai Meiyue shook her head again. "I have no intention of avenging such small matters and that too from a baby. If you want to complain, then you can only look for those women, but I am afraid that there is no point. After all, they were only helping you out. What’s more, those women will definitely focus on their children. So it’s not that I am causing trouble for no reason."

Bai Meiyue was not angry with Bai Wenxuan because she did not have any feelings or expectations from the man in the first place. Even her biological father made use of her until she was no longer useful to him; how could she expect any kind of help from Bai Wenxuan? It was good enough if he and his family did not cause trouble for her.

When Bai Wenxuan heard that it had nothing to do with Bai Meiyue, he turned a bit troubled. "Then what should I do?"

Bai Meiyue: "..."

She was speechless after hearing his question. She did a slow blink and then remarked casually, "Don’t you think that this question has a very simple answer? Just ask his mother to feed him. Why are you asking me what you should do?"

Bai Wenxuan curled his lips when he heard Bai Meiyue’s response. "Do you think that I don’t want her to do it? But that woman is such a stubborn person. She will never do something that can ruin her body." He knew perfectly well that breastfeeding could cause a woman’s bosom to sag and Yang Wei knew about it too. She would rather let her son be starved to death than feed him. How could he ask her to feed the child?

"And here I thought that she loved you very much." Bai Meiyue snorted. "If she is unwilling, then you can ask Fox to search for a woman who wants to work as your wet nurse. But make sure that the pay is good and the person’s character is trustable as well. If something happens to your son, then don’t come blaming me."

After she finished her suggestion, she walked past Bai Wenxuan. She had already done enough for Bai Wenxuan and even if felt sorry for that boy, she couldn’t do anything for him. After all, who asked him to be so unlucky that he was born by someone like Yang Wei.
