In one of the cars, a man with a broad chin sat next to the driver’s seat.

He pressed onto the earbud on his right ear and said, "This is Lieutenant Lee speaking.

"ETA 1 hour.

"Those on the other vehicles disembark and sweep through the college as planned.

"Be sure to take in anyone you can find.

"I will lead my team to make a flank and head for the objective while you are doing so."

"Roger!" The other soldiers replied to him using their earbuds.

"Lieutenant Lee, why would you want to go through all these troubles? We could have done it on our own, striking at the objective directly." One of the soldiers sitting behind asked.

"Are you an idiot, Corporal Lex?" The driver shook his head and glanced at the soldier through the rear view mirror.

"No, Sergeant Simon." Corporal Lex replied and twitched his mouth.

He was sure that they could go in and extract the target successfully without much hiccup.

Their team was the best so far among the Elite Awakened Special Ops unit.

And they were able to accomplish their mission without any casualties unlike the others.

Lieutenant Lee was a SS Level Lightning Wielder and Sergeant Simon was an S Level Dark Energy Wielder.

He himself was an A Level Body Control Awakened, and his buddy next to him, Corporal Rock, was an A Level Rock Wielder.

Other teams mostly had Awakened that were at B or C Level abilities and their team leader with maybe a A or S Level ability.

"Never get too confident, soldier." Lieutenant Lee tapped his finger on the dashboard and said, "Whoever it was, they were able to sneak into the quarantine area undetected and ransacked our ammunition depot without being caught.

"We must never underestimate them."

"But aren’t they just college students?" Corporal Lex shrugged and asked.

"What makes you so sure that it couldn’t be one of them from the college?" Lieutenant Lee asked in return.

That silenced Corporal Lex.

No one knows how someone could become an Awakened yet.

And it was indeed highly possible that some of the students had become a powerful Awakened.

He gave out a sigh and glanced out of the car window cursing inside silently.

His buddy sitting beside him, Corporal Rock, had a question of his own.

"Shouldn’t we wait for the replenishment instead of moving out as planned?" He asked and Lieutenant Lee nodded his head.

This was a much more worthy question to be answered.

"It is to strike them when they are least prepared. In times like this you need to be able to make the decision and go against common perception to have an advantage against the enemy."

"Yes, sir." Corporal Rock got the answer he wanted to know and he kept quiet afterwards.

Lieutenant Lee glanced at the front while he thought about whether his arrangements were enough.

Somehow, he was having an uneasy feeling about this mission.

...

When the view of the college campus came into sight, Lieutenant Lee pressed onto his right earbud again and said, "Team 2 to 7, proceed."

"Roger." The others replied to him and their vehicles accelerated together in unison.

As for the car that he was in, Sergeant Simon steered the car to the left and broke off with the others.

The car started to go off track and the car started to bump up and down from the bumpy dirt track that led to the school of Bio-science.

Screech.

The other cars of Team 2 to 7 screeched to a halt and the doors of the cars opened.

Men in armored vests and gear got out of the cars with their firearms.

They weren’t able to have anything else except for small arms and their automatic rifles, since the other type of ammunition was cleared by Alex.

Other than their small arms and automatic rifles, the best they could muster was smoke grenades that they had left.

"Go! Go! Spread out." Their team leaders gave the command and they did so.

All of them started moving in formation into the college campus.

As they got deeper into the college campus, they started to frown at what they saw.

It was eerily quiet and void of bodies.

Everywhere else they had gone was in a mess with no one to take care of the dead bodies, but right here, there weren’t any around.

Maybe these students were much more organized than the others? They thought as they headed towards the school of Bio-science.

When one of them got to a cover and glanced around on alert.

He noticed a figure that moved and he shouted, "Hey, stop and put your hands in the air!"

But the figure in the dark didn’t stop.

The figure raised his hands and they gave out an amber glow.

Fireballs shot out from his hands at the ground that was not too far away.

The soldier frowned at the abysmal aim of the figure in the dark.

It was as if he didn’t want to aim the fireball at him.

Which means that....

Before the soldier could react and warn his compatriots, the fireball hit onto the ground.

Boom!

A huge explosion ensued when the fireball hit into the ground.

The blast rocked the buildings in the surroundings and shook the ground.

Shock waves radiated outwards and they traveled through the bodies of the soldiers.

"Argh!" The soldiers who weren’t blown into pieces by the blast gave out a loud cry in pain and they dropped onto their knees.

They held their hands to their chest to try and make the pain from within better.

But it was to no avail.

Blood flowed down the side of their lips.

Those that could still move tried to get back onto their feet but they froze when they saw figures come out from the dark.

All of them had an automated rifle in their hands.

The soldiers’ eyes opened wide and they tried to stop the students but nothing came out from their mouths except for blood.

Bang!

All they could see next was the amber sparks from the muzzles of the automatic rifles pointing at them.
