Other researchers in white coats came over to the skinny man and they started crowding over him.

The machines next to the platform started beeping and the screens on them started to have graphs and numbers changing rapidly.

Alex frowned as he watched them get busy with the skinny man.

He was right.

The authorities are doing something to the Awakened that had come to the quarantine area.

They were obviously trying to do some tests or experiments on these Awakened.

Alex wasn’t sure what they were going to do with them.

He had another ten minutes left before he had to take a one minute rest in his normal form, so he sneaked around to try and figure it out.

At the back of the platform where the skinny man and researchers were, there was a room that seemed to be important with two guards standing in front of the door.

Thankfully the lighting in the modified warehouse wasn’t the best and there were shadows that were cast onto the walls of the room.

Alex made use of the fact and he moved into the shadows by the wall.

He slipped past the guards successfully and when he got into the room, it was empty without anyone inside it.

There wasn’t any CCTV installed inside the room so he turned back into his normal form.

Alex walked over to the desk and he tried to check if there was any useful information on what they were doing in the documents stacked on it.

However, they weren’t exactly what he was looking for.

They were documents detailing the Awakened in captivity, and other logistic documents like how much and where the stock for the devices and injections required for their research work were.

Alex tried to remember as many details as he could about the Awakened and their stocks.

Who knows if it might come in handy for Teresa in the future?

He thought about it in his mind and he turned his focus to the computer that was also on the desk.

It was locked and he wished that he had Brian together with him at the moment.

Brian was good at breaking through things like computer security.

But it wasn’t possible to have Brian with him, so he turned his focus to other areas.

There were drawers by the side of the desk and he tried to open them.

The first one at the top was locked so he thought for a moment.

It was no big deal for him.

Alex used his ability and a slit appeared inside the drawer.

It opened up into a storage portal and the portal absorbed whatever folders and documents that were inside the drawer into his storage space.

Then, he took out the folders with documents inside from his storage space.

Alex read them and frowned while reading them.

The documents were about the experiments that were conducted to figure out how to control the abilities of the Awakened and to enhance the abilities.

So far, it hasn’t been doing great and whoever was in charge requested more test subjects and more researchers, and it was approved.

Alex put the folders and documents back into the drawer with his storage portal and he gave out a long sigh.

Things were as bad as he had expected.

He had to try and figure out what the soldiers had in mind to get more test subjects and researchers.

Without hesitation, Alex turned into his shadow form again.

Under the cover of being a speck of shadow, he sneaked out of the room successfully.

Alex went over to the warehouse that was beside the one he was in.

And inside it, there was a briefing going on.

There were around a hundred or so armed soldiers that were gathered and they were facing a podium in front of them.

One of the soldiers bumped into the soldier in front of him and they started to have some verbal exchange.

"I would be careful if I were you." The soldier who was bumped raised his hand and it gave out an orange glow in the next moment.

"Chill out, man. I’m sorry, OK." The other soldier quickly stepped back and apologized.

Alex didn’t have a good feeling with what he had witnessed.

These were soldiers who were Awakened.

And they were gathered here for something.

Just as he was thinking about it, a man in uniform stepped onto the podium.

Several other soldiers followed behind him, pushing a map pinned onto a board onto the podium with them.

Everyone kept quiet and they waited for the man to speak.

"I’m General Xavier, your commanding officer.

"Our Elite Awakened Special Ops unit has just been established and I know that you can’t wait to get started on a mission.

"So here I am."

All of the soldiers nodded their heads and gave out a cheer.

"Think about all the booze and bitches we can get after this."

"I can’t wait to see what I’m capable of with my ability."

"Let’s go, General Xavier!"

General Xavier raised his hands at them and they quickly turned silent.

He turned around at the map and he started briefing them on where their missions would be.

Alex frowned and listened to the plan.

General Xavier’s plan was to have the soldiers formed up into different special ops teams with their own supporting fire and logistics from the normal soldiers.

His target was to have them make a sweep of areas that were marked on the map.

There were numerous locations marked on the east side and areas on the north and most notably, they were all industrial areas or colleges with bioscience and medical research centers in them.

Among them was where Alex’s college campus was located.

And from what he had heard from General Xavier, their mission would commence the following day.

The recon team might already have been sent out as General Xavier spoke.

Alex knew he had to get back, be prepared for what’s coming as soon as possible in any way he could.

And in the meantime, he pondered what else he could do to delay their mission.

He had an idea when thinking about logistics and his storage ability.

Since logistics were so important to the success of their mission, he might as well make use of it.
