Apocalypse: My SSS Ability Changes Every Few Days
Chapter 69: Massive Attack
Vroom!
The engine of the car roared and it moved out of the car park.
Their car made a turn towards the city and got onto the highway after leaving the college campus.
It was a smooth ride for the initial part.
The roads were mostly clear except for a few stranded cars.
No zombies or mutated beasts were in sight.
However, when they got onto the highway, that was when things got messier.
Alex frowned when he saw the highway piled up with vehicles.
These vehicles must have been on their way to the city to try and seek help from the authorities.
It was a hassle and a blessing at the same time.
He could see that there were a few buses and trucks at the far end of the highway.
But before he could get to it, they would have to clear out a path to get to the buses and trucks.
"Stop the car, I will store all the cars that are still serviceable into my storage space.
"All of you cover me while I’m doing so." Alex said and Riley stopped the car.
The four of them got out of the car and they started to get to work.
Riley took the lead in front of Alex as usual, with Terry and Brian on Alex’s side.
They were on high alert and kept a lookout while Alex was busy.
Alex checked the cars, and if they were still serviceable with fuel intact, he got rid of the bodies, and stored these cars in his storage space.
For those that weren’t serviceable anymore, he pushed them to the side of the highway, opening up a path for them.
But as he checked and got closer to the buses and trucks, he frowned when he realized that most of the vehicles were empty without any bodies inside them.
First the car doors were mostly left open.
And inside these cars, there were only some specks of blood on the car seats and interior.
But other than that, the owners and passengers of these vehicles couldn’t be seen anywhere.
He figured that they could have abandoned their vehicles and escaped to somewhere else.
But what could have made them do so?
There weren’t many clues available to him, so he could only guess that they must have encountered some mutated beasts right here.
"Is it autumn already?" Terry pointed to the hill by the side of the highway and asked.
"What do you mean, autumn? It’s hot like hell right now." Brian shook his head and glanced at the direction where Terry was pointing at.
He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw it.
Alex stopped what he was doing and shouted, "Get ready."
The hill was covered in red but it was not the autumn leaves that made it so.
There were numerous ants that were as big as the size of a cat crawling towards them.
"I’m getting the creeps just by seeing this." Riley cursed while he prepared for battle with his bubbles.
When these mutated ants got into the range of their abilities, Alex and his friends unleashed what they could at the swarm of ants that were coming towards them in all directions.
Three storage portals opened up in front of Alex and bubbles flew out from the portals at the ants.
Boom.
The ants didn’t dodge but tried to overwhelm him with their numbers, but the moment that the bubbles came into contact with those at the front, explosions ensued.
Those ants that were caught by the explosion were blown into pieces, and the other ants started to drag the pieces of these ants to the back.
Alex didn’t stop and he unleashed the pillars of fire at the remaining ants.
Sizzle.
The pillars of fire burnt the ants and they charred the hard shell of the ants’ bodies before turning them into ashes.
However, it was not over yet for the ants.
The pillars of fire moved in different directions and they left a trail of burnt ashes behind them.
Finally, metallic blocks shot out from the storage portals and they smashed through the ants that were in their way.
The hard shell, innards and bodies of the ants were smashed into a mangled mass in an instant.
Alex was about to unleash his lightning strikes at the ants when something else appeared in the air.
It was another ant but much larger than the other ants were.
The ant in the air had wings and it was carrying a car with its legs.
Whoosh.
Without warning, the car was flung towards Alex with tremendous speed.
But it wasn’t quick enough for him yet.
A slit appeared in front of him and it opened up into a portal.
The car was absorbed into it.
Alex made use of the opportunity and aimed his palms at the ant in the air.
The crackling sound could be heard and sparks of lightning appeared on his hands.
After a bright flash, lightning strikes shot out towards the ant in the air.
Splatter.
The lightning strikes hit onto the body of the ant and the lightning strikes blew it into pieces.
Green liquid that came out of the body of the ant started to rain down from above.
And when the green liquid hit onto the asphalt road and vehicles down below, smoke rose when the green liquid started to melt everything it touched.
The chunks of bodies of the ant splattered onto the ground next.
With the ants taken care of, Alex was glad that these ants were only Stage I and Stage II mutated beasts, which provided him the much-needed kills for the rewards.
The resources that he required would run low, if he could only garner a much smaller number of kills, like what he had done the day before.
At least these ants helped him to achieve his kill target and get his resources without too much of a challenge.
When he turned around to his friends, they were also done with the ants that came at them.
A familiar sound erupted in his mind and information panels with words appeared in it.
[Ding!]
