"Don’t you worry about that.

"We will get you to safety after the test result is out.

"There are those who are infected, so we have to be careful about letting people into the quarantine area." The white coat said and the nurse nodded her head.

"I’m sorry... I was too anxious just now..." The nurse lowered her head and said softly.

She was worried about not being able to get into the quarantine area.

And the fact that she was separated from the others didn’t help.

"I can understand." The white coat said and the door to the room opened.

The person that left earlier with the syringe popped her head into the room and shook it at her.

"Alright, the test result is out now.

"You are welcome to join back the quarantine area; my colleagues here will take down your particulars and guide you through the process." She said and glanced at the armed men in uniform, stepping forward.

The white coat left the room and her phone beeped.

She picked up her phone and gave out a sigh when she read the message that was sent to her.

[Time is running out. We don’t have enough researchers and test subjects.]

[The investors aren’t too happy about the progress.]

[I’ve initiated the second phase of the plan instead of waiting for the Awakened to come to the quarantine area.]

She knew what the second phase of the plan entailed and felt relieved of all the pressure.

The number of Awakened coming into the quarantine area was getting fewer and fewer as time went by.

It was better for the armed guys to take over.

As for those who had been moved into the quarantine area, they would make great experiment subjects.

The white coat walked down the corridor where there were many rooms with the same quarantine procedure going on.

Then, an unconscious man was dragged through the corridor by the armed personnel.

"You think you could retaliate with that puny ability of yours huh?" One of the armed men said and gave a kick onto the unconscious man’s body.

Shaking her head, the white coat continued on her way as if such a scene was a daily occurrence for her.

...

Meanwhile, Alex was sitting on the bed while waiting for the time to pass.

Riley, Terry, and Brian were already asleep after helping replenish his storage space with their abilities.

He could only hope for a useful ability for him to be able to sneak near or into the quarantine area to see what was happening over there.

When the time finally arrived, a familiar sound erupted in his mind.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations to Host for keeping the SSS Lightning Wielder ability.]

[The next SSS Ability granted to you is SSS Shadow Plane Ability.]

[This ability allows you to become a flat shadow-like existence, traveling along floors, walls, and ceilings.]

[You can sustain the flat shadow form for up to ten minutes at a time.]

[A 5 minute cool down period would be required before you are able to use it again.]

[Be warned that this ability only allows you to hide from sight or detection from other abilities.]

[You are not invincible from harm when you are in flat shadow form.]

[You will have this ability for 1 day and if you can kill off 200 enemies within this 1 day, you get to keep the Ability.]

[If you can’t achieve it, you wouldn’t be able to keep the ability when the day is over.]

[Current status: 0/200]

[Day 1 of 1 for SSS Shadow Plane Ability.]

Great. Alex gave out a cheer in silence when he saw what the new ability was about.

He wasn’t sure if the system had heard what he wanted or it was pure luck, but in any case, he couldn’t ask for more.

It gave him more confidence to try and get into the quarantine area to see what was going on inside it.

However, he wasn’t very sure if he could reach the target of 200 kills within a day to keep this ability, but he could only try.

Thankfully, the trip out of the college campus the next day would certainly help with it.

Having cleared all of the mutated beasts and enemies in the college campus, there were more opportunities out there in comparison.

After getting such a satisfactory ability, Alex could finally close his eyes and rest for the day.

It was a peaceful night for him, and after a long, tiring day, he slept soundly without being disturbed for the whole night.

His physique as an SSS Level Awakened also helped with the recovery.

When he opened his eyes again, it was already morning.

Riley, Terry and Brian were also awake.

"Morning." Terry greeted him while he prepared breakfast for the four of them.

Alex nodded and stretched out his hands before giving out a yawn.

Then, he heard some commotion on the ground floor.

He walked over to the window and peeped through the barricade of it to see what was happening.

There were teams of students with automated rifles slung on their backs, checking their equipment, getting ready to move out to the observation points, and start the patrols around the college campus.

Eddy and Lin didn’t disappoint.

They’ve managed to get it done as promised.

And with this odd sense of routine and order, his friends were also feeling great.

They were eager to get out of the college campus to start the day.

Alex and his friends had a quick breakfast and they left the dorm building shortly after.

Along the way to the car park, they passed by the patrol teams and those who were stationed in the observation points.

"Morning, Alex." Those on patrol greeted him as they passed by and went on their way.

Alex acknowledged them but he knew that this sense of normalcy was hard to come by, and it might be gone in an instant if something bad happened.

The best he could do was to be prepared for it as much as he could.

Riley checked the car that was topped up with fuel the day before, and he waved at the others after he made sure that it was fine.

"Let’s go and get ourselves more resources." Terry rubbed his hands together and said while he walked towards the car.

Alex shrugged and followed behind him.
