Alex and his friends walked into the Halmart and the first thing that hit them was the stench of the bodies that had started to rot.

The bodies must have been those who were killed within the first or second day.

Although they had encountered this stench before, it was, however, not possible to get over it easily.

Alex covered his mouth and they quickly walked past the checkout area that was near the entrance where most of the bodies were.

Once they got further into the building it got better and they were able to breathe and scavenge around.

They headed for the area where the fresh food was first, but when they reached there, most of the meat had started to turn bad without the freezer working.

Alex could only pick out whatever was still edible and stored them into his storage space.

He went on to store all the pre-processed food that was still available instead.

Then, they got to the pharmacy and he didn’t even think before he swept and stored everything that was available with a wave of his hand.

Next, they got to the electronics section and they got around trying to pick up things that were useful.

"Look, the latest blockbuster game! I was about to buy it when it came out." Riley picked up one of the game discs on the racks and said.

"Now you can get it for free, I suppose." Terry said and picked up a box of the console, Playing Station 5, for the game and threw it over at Riley.

"Thanks. I guess all I need now is the electricity to power it." Riley said and gave out a sigh.

The days of being able to chill out playing a game was simply over.

Brian shook his head at them and said, "Stop wasting time and try to find something useful."

He was hard at work picking out things like flashlights, batteries, drones and walkie talkie sets.

Alex waved his hands at the items that Brian had brought over to him and stored them into his storage space in an instant.

Then, he glanced around to search for where the portable generators were.

It didn’t take him too long to find them in the Hardware section.

He and his friends also took more than the few portable generators that were available.

Tools like powered drills, saws, power cables, and duct tape were also swept clean by them.

They went on to the Clothing section and Alex swept everything that was available.

Alex proceeded to store all the sanitary products that were also left on the racks before he went over to the Garden Center.

"What are we here for?" Terry glanced around at the racks of gardening equipment and asked.

Alex shook his head at him and said, "I’m not looking for these."

He pointed at the far end of the section where seeds for flowers, vegetables and herbs were and said, "There they are."

Brian quickly thought about Patricia’s ability and said, "So, we will start farming soon huh?"

"Yes. But not in the college campus." Alex waved his hand across the racks with the seeds for all the flowers, vegetables and herbs and they disappeared into his storage space.

"So, you plan to leave the college soon?" Terry asked when he heard him.

"At least not now. Not until Teresa and her team are able to figure out the way to stop what is happening." Alex replied and gave out a sigh.

He wasn’t too sure if she was able to do so, but she was the only one he could count on.

Riley walked over to the side of Terry, patted on his shoulder and said, "We have some safer places than the college campus that we can go to.

"After all these years fearing for this moment, how could I have not earmarked places to go and hide it out when shit hits the fan."

"We shall discuss where to go next when the time comes." Alex said and they nodded their heads.

It would be a huge risk but a necessary move unless they could clear the woods of all the mutated beasts, fortify the college campus and find a clean source of water.

The rewards that he got were barely enough for the two hundred over people in the dorm building so it wasn’t too sustainable.

With this thought in mind, Alex gave out a sigh and said to his friends, "Let’s go, we’ve gotten all the things we need so far."

Riley and the others nodded their heads and they got back to the entrance.

But when they got out of the building, Alex sensed something that was coming at them from above.

"Get away from where you are!" He shouted and leaped away from where he was.

Riley and the others also did the same.

A shadow could be seen on the ground and it became bigger and bigger until the owner of it descended onto the ground.

Boom.

The ground shook and Alex’s eyes opened wide.

It was a mutated beast that was in the form of a bear at three stories high.

But it was different, with many sacs made of its skin protruding out from its black fur.

The nurse wasn’t lying to him.

Alex glanced over to his friends and shouted, "Try to keep a distance and use your powers on it."

He didn’t know what this mutated bear was capable of, so it was best if they kept a distance away from it to be safe.

Roar.

The mutated bear gave out a roar and swiped its paw down at Riley before anyone of them could do anything.

A black shimmer came down at Riley and he quickly leaped to the side.

Bam.

The paw of the mutated bear smashed into the ground and it caused the concrete to crack.

"What the hell? Aren’t they supposed to move slow since they are so big!" Riley shouted and leaped again when he saw the other paw of the mutated bear coming down at him.

Thankfully, he dodged the paw of the mutated bear in the nick of time.

To stop the mutated bear from getting to Riley, Alex quickly unleashed a few pillars of fire at the mutated bear from his storage portal.
