Chapter 414: Chapter 414: Catch the Big Goose

’Whatever, I’ll just check if they have it. It’s useless to just sit here thinking about it.’

She exited the Human Social Sphere and went to the system store. Sure enough, there were many mini-games and video apps.

She had wanted to see if she could export them to share with everyone, but she ended up getting hooked while playing.

It was a game called "Catch the Goose." The interface was very simple: a large pot.

Inside were dozens of types of food. You just had to collect three of a kind to clear them, repeating until the entire pot was empty.

That was how you won, but for the life of her, she just couldn’t clear it.

She felt like her eyes were going to go blind from staring, but she still couldn’t win. Frustrated, she turned off her Light Brain, gazing into the distance to rest her eyes.

After resting her eyes, she checked the time. ’Damn, it’s almost time for dinner again.’

’See? It’s so easy to get addicted to these little games.’

’Even I got hooked, let alone those regular survivors with no self-control. No, no, I can’t spread this around.’

Lily Hart made excuses for herself.

But she was still a little unwilling to give up. ’How can I not beat it?’

With that thought, she turned on her Light Brain again and opened "Catch the Goose."

’Time to catch some geese!’

She played right up until dinnertime. Everyone had gathered, making small talk, and the kitchen was a whirlwind of activity.

But none of it disturbed Lily Hart. She was completely focused on the game.

So much so that Roman Rowe and Owen Warren leaned in to see what Boss Hart was up to.

’Have we lost our charm in her eyes?’

When they got closer, they were both stunned. She was playing a game? They thought she was handling some major life-or-death matter.

The two of them flanked her, one on each side, resting their folded hands on the back of the sofa.

Lily Hart was so absorbed in her game that she didn’t even notice them.

Gradually, Roman Rowe and Owen Warren also got drawn in, even feeling the urge to tap the screen a few times themselves.

Roman Rowe couldn’t resist. He reached out and tapped a garlic tile, making Lily Hart jump. She whipped her head around, startled and confused.

She instinctively slapped his hand away. "Shoo, shoo, don’t mess me up."

Roman Rowe asked, "Boss Hart, what game is this? It looks really fun."

Without even thinking or turning her head, Lily Hart said, "This is a game for adults. Kids shouldn’t be playing it. It’s a waste of time."

"?" Roman Rowe puffed out his chest instinctively. "You’re the kid! I’m older than you."

"I’m your boss, and people with no self-control like you should play fewer games," Lily Hart said righteously.

’In reality, I’m racking my brain over what to tap next. The slots at the bottom are almost full, what do I do?’

’What do I do? I feel like I’m going to lose this round again.’

Seeing Lily Hart lost in thought, Roman Rowe huffed, "Hmph. Fine, I won’t play then."

At that moment, Owen Warren chimed in, "I’m an adult. I can play."

Lily Hart glanced at Owen Warren. He did seem much more mature than Roman Rowe. "Alright, wait for me to finish this round."

Having gotten her approval, Owen Warren shot Roman Rowe a triumphant look.

The latter felt insulted. Annoyed, he propped himself up with one hand and vaulted over the back of the sofa.

He plopped down next to Lily Hart and clung to her arm. "I want to play, too! I want to play, too!"

He had activated his ultimate whining-and-pouting mode, and as it happened, Lily Hart was a sucker for it.

"Fine, fine! When I finish this round, I’ll share the game with you guys. Just don’t get hooked, okay~" Lily Hart said.

If her eyes hadn’t been glued to the screen when she said it, she might have been more convincing.

Roman Rowe was satisfied. He shot a triumphant look back at Owen Warren and hummed smugly.

Owen Warren couldn’t be bothered with him. ’He has no masculinity at all, just resorting to those petty tricks.’

’And Lily Hart falls for it every time. Damn it!’

’I would never stoop to that!’

"Argh, I failed again!" Lily Hart furiously shut down her Light Brain.

She looked up to meet everyone’s puzzled and astonished gazes. It seemed that at times, Boss Hart’s emotional stability wasn’t all that stable.

Lily Hart immediately composed herself. "Yes, I was just setting a bad example. Don’t be like me and get addicted to games. It’s not good."

If they hadn’t just witnessed Lily Hart’s tantrum over failing to catch a goose,

...her words of warning might have been more credible. But no one called her out on it; they just nodded earnestly.

Soon, the dishes were ready. Everyone went to bring out the food while Lily Hart tried to calm herself down.

Lily Hart didn’t eat much for dinner. She wanted to save room for the fried skewers she hadn’t had in a long time.

But in everyone else’s eyes, it looked like Lily Hart’s mood had been ruined by the game.

’She’s even eating less!’

’This game is the worst. I have to see what kind of game could make Lily Hart this mad.’

The moment dinner was over and the dishes were cleared, Roman Rowe started pestering her impatiently, "The game, the game~ Share it with us~"

"Alright, alright." ’Let’s see how you like being at the mercy of the goose.’

With that thought, Lily Hart cheerfully shared it in their small group chat.

Once they got it, they forgot all about heading back to their shops. Everyone found a spot, sat down, and started playing.

Seeing this, Lily Hart decided her fried skewers could wait and sat down to play with them.

It suddenly felt like a group gaming session, even though they were all at different stages.

But Lily Hart quite liked this atmosphere, with everyone focused on the same thing.

A few minutes later, Roman Rowe let out the first curse. "DAMN IT, what is this stupid game! I’m done!"

After saying that, his eyes darted around before he quietly started a new round.

The others weren’t as vocal, but they were all frowning and had their own little tells.

Maybe one was digging their fingers into the sofa, another was pulling at their hair.

Or maybe picking at dead skin, or fidgeting with their fingers. In short, they were all completely dominated by "Catch the Goose."

Lily Hart was satisfied. As long as she wasn’t the only one who couldn’t beat the goose, it was fine!

She ambled out of the RV. People were coming and going all around, and she was just one among the crowd.

The path from the lottery shop to the night market passed by every single store.

Lily Hart was very satisfied with her current situation. She had dozens of shops that brought in money without her needing to manage them.

And machines that made money just by stocking them with scratch-off tickets.

In short, a steady stream of points flowed into her pockets every day.

She was also surrounded by several handsome guys. She could kiss one today, and another tomorrow.

Life was so good. ’It would be great if it could stay like this forever.’

Lost in her thoughts, Lily Hart arrived at the night market and quickly found the fried skewer stall.

The vendor was incredibly busy. Thankfully, he and Lily Hart had already agreed on set menus and prices beforehand.

Otherwise, he would have been even more swamped.

The current process was this: each customer chose a set menu they liked.

Then they would grab the correct number and type of skewers for their chosen menu and put them in a small basket.

They’d line up in order, and the vendor would fry the contents of each basket, one by one.

Luckily, he had two deep-fryers, so the vendor just had to toss the skewers in.

But each type of skewer needed a different frying time, and he still had to brush on the sauce afterward, so he was still quite busy.

Still, it was just manageable enough. In any case, he never stopped.

Lily Hart saw the long line of people, and the waiting baskets were stacked several layers high.

A quick glance told her there were dozens of orders.

’Forget it,’ she thought. ’I’ll just eat tomorrow.’
