Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 411: Fried Skewers Stall
Chapter 411: Chapter 411: Fried Skewers Stall
Lily Hart returned to the lottery shop just like that. Before she even had to say anything, Stan Sterling had already set down the four baskets of fruit.
He often brought fruit over, mainly because Lily Hart loved it.
She had also said that people should eat fruit every day and that she hoped everyone could have some.
Because of what she’d said, he spent a lot of time in the vegetable patch every day, hoping to level it up and expand its area.
He wanted to grow more fruits and vegetables so that everyone could eat fruit without having to fight for it.
Lily Hart had just sat down when someone outside scratched off an amazing prize.
How did she know? Well, the gasps of surprise from outside had caught her attention.
It wasn’t like these people were easily impressed. Who would be shouting and carrying on all day, right? It had to be a good prize.
So she peeked her head out. Tch, a crate of fruit. No, wait—a crate of fruit that would replenish itself indefinitely.
She knew it. For everyone to be this shocked, it had to be something special.
She sat back down and started munching on the cherry tomatoes Stan Sterling had just washed, pondering what to have for lunch.
Stan Sterling took the opportunity to sit beside her. He saw how seriously she was contemplating the problem, her gaze growing distant.
He smiled, sitting there quietly and eating cherry tomatoes with her.
Her pale, delicate hands holding the bright red cherry tomatoes made for a beautiful, striking contrast.
Stan Sterling ate slowly, just wanting an excuse to sit there.
Lily Hart snapped out of her culinary daydream and saw that Stan Sterling was still there, his cheeks puffed out with food. She reached out and poked one.
It was firm. He looked really good like this. "Cute~" she praised.
Her voice lilting at the end, full of delight. Her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled and stared at him.
Stan Sterling froze, his face flushing red in an instant. Even his chewing stopped.
Lily Hart found this even more adorable. She casually popped another cherry tomato into his mouth, making his cheeks even puffier.
Stan Sterling: CHEW. CHEW. CHEW.
He quickly swallowed the tomatoes in his mouth and then, for some reason, opened his mouth wide. "Ah~"
Lily Hart was baffled for a moment before she caught on. She bent over laughing, grabbing more cherry tomatoes and popping them into his mouth as she giggled.
She seemed to love the sight of his puffed-out cheeks. He looked like a little hamster obediently nibbling on its food.
Stan Sterling was very cooperative. She kept feeding him, and he kept eating.
"Okay, okay, I’ll stop playing. You can eat them yourself now," Lily Hart said with a laugh, pulling her hand back.
For some reason, Stan Sterling felt a little disappointed.
’I finally discovered one of Lily Hart’s little quirks,’ he thought. ’Hehe, this is great~’
In the blink of an eye, it was almost time for lunch. Lily Hart mentioned she wanted Dry Pot Shrimp, so Stan Sterling was trying to make it.
Under Lily Hart’s guidance, everyone had mastered a few signature dishes—all of which happened to be her favorites.
You could say they were all presentable in public and skilled in the kitchen.
Lily Hart sat on the sofa, waiting for lunch. Even though she’d had rice noodle rolls with extra meat and egg for breakfast, she was hungry now that it was mealtime.
At noon, two bowls of Dry Pot Shrimp appeared on the dining table: one was a failed attempt, and the other was a success.
The successful one was placed in front of Lily Hart. Stan Sterling watched her, looking slightly nervous.
Roman Rowe tried a shrimp from the failed batch and said nonchalantly, "This is pretty good, isn’t it? How is this a failure?"
Stan Sterling couldn’t be bothered to explain it to him. He just kept his eyes on Lily Hart.
Lily Hart didn’t notice, simply admiring the dishes before her. She picked up a piece of the Dry Pot Shrimp first.
The shrimp had been deveined and butterflied. It was particularly large, and the meat was firm and springy with a hint of spice.
Lily Hart’s eyes lit up. "This is delicious!" she exclaimed.
Stan Sterling let out a sigh of relief and finally started eating in peace.
And so, most of the bowl of Dry Pot Shrimp ended up in Lily Hart’s stomach. The others didn’t care whether they were eating the "failed" or "successful" version—as long as it wasn’t poisonous, it was fine.
Lily Hart especially loved eating with them; they never wasted food.
Anything she couldn’t finish, she could confidently leave to them. They would always take care of it for her.
"*Burp*~" Lily Hart let out a little burp.
Frost Shaw handed her water while Roman Rowe passed her a napkin. Both did so with practiced ease, their other hands still shoveling rice into their mouths.
It was as if the motion was encoded in their DNA. Once she was full, Lily Hart left the table first.
When everyone else finished eating, they automatically started clearing the table—one wiping it down, another collecting the bowls.
They worked in perfect sync.
Lily Hart simply walked around the sofa, showing no signs of feeling obligated to help.
Once things were mostly cleaned up, Seth left in a hurry. This was always the factory’s peak time.
But now that they had robots, his job was much easier. He just had to supervise the site.
After finishing her walk, Lily Hart sat on the sofa. She was just about to rest for a bit when she heard Diana Sharp call out, "Lily..."
She stood up instinctively. "I know, I’m on my way," she said.
’Someone must have scratched off another prize,’ she figured. ’Otherwise, those two wouldn’t call for me over nothing.’
’Ugh, another night market machine. And I just finished eating.’
It was a fried skewer stall. She used to love these, even though they gave her diarrhea half the time.
’Well, if I’m already eating junk food, who cares about that? If it happens, it happens.’
It came with two deep fryers, a large freezer, and a small display case.
Presumably, one was for frozen meat skewers and the other for fresh vegetable skewers.
’But selling these things must be a huge hassle, right? If everyone buys different things, the owner will have to calculate the price and remember what each person ordered.’
’That sounds difficult.’
Lily Hart pondered if there was a better way.
Lost in thought, she walked right up to the stall owner and gave him a raised eyebrow by way of greeting.
The stall owner was a little nervous. It was the first scratch-off ticket he had ever bought, and he never expected to win such a good prize.
Lily Hart got straight to the point. "Are you planning to set up a stall in the night market?"
The stall owner nodded. Where else could he go? If he set up inside the base, he felt like people would cause trouble every day.
"Alright, I’ll take you there." Lily Hart turned and walked away, and the stall owner immediately followed.
Once they arrived at the night market, she found a spot for him and explained some of the rules.
For example, the night market’s operating hours.
The stall owner committed it all to memory and then voiced his own concerns. "So, how should I price everything? And how should I sell it? I have a bad memory..."
Lily Hart thought, ’I was just wondering the same thing.’
Suddenly, she had a flash of inspiration. "Why don’t you just sell combo meals? You could create a few set combos, each with a specific combination of skewers."
"That would make pricing easier, and it would be simpler for you to remember. I can even help you print out a menu: Combo One has these items for this price, Combo Two has those items for that price, and so on."
The stall owner nodded repeatedly as he listened. ’No wonder she’s the boss,’ he thought, ’she’s so sharp!’
"Yes, yes, yes! That’s so much easier to remember, and I won’t even have to calculate prices," the stall owner said, scratching his head with an honest smile.
Lily Hart smiled too, unable to resist patting herself on the back. ’I’m a genius,’ she thought.
The main issue was that the night market was crowded, with a constant flow of customers. If they let people pick and choose freely like they did back in civilized times...
...his brain would probably short-circuit.
No sooner said than done. The two of them consulted the skewers in the freezer and display case and began creating the combos.
In the end, they created a total of five combos: an all-veggie option, an all-meat option, and several with a mix of both.
It was fair to say they had catered to everyone’s needs.
