The four hypnotized individuals opened the basement door and walked inside.

The four guards inside looked confused when they saw their companions enter.

"Weren’t you told to stand guard outside? Why did you come in? Or does the boss have new orders?"

But then they realized something was wrong.

Even if the boss did have new orders, he could have told them directly.

Soon, one of them noticed something was off about the four who had just entered.

Their eyes were vacant, as if they were hypnotized.

"Oh no, it looks like they’ve been—"

Before he could finish his sentence, he too fell under control.

The rest was simple. The eight of them quickly emptied the basement.

To prevent any accidents, laser weapons had also been deployed in the basement.

The kind of weapon that would slice a person into countless pieces the instant it was triggered.

Moira Lynch used her spiritual power to interfere with the operation of these laser weapons.

Once they had stored everything from the basement into the Space Buttons, Moira used her innate ability to retrieve the hypnotic devices and the two Space Buttons from them.

Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from nearby.

Someone had clearly noticed the anomaly and was coming down to investigate.

In a Blink, Moira Lynch vanished from the spot. Without her interference, the laser weapons reactivated.

When the newcomers arrived, they were greeted by the sight of an empty basement and the floor covered in pieces of corpses.

After returning to the car, the first thing Moira Lynch did was rescue Hugh Finch.

At that moment, Hugh Finch was still in a standoff with those people.

The man, apparently thinking Hugh Finch had nowhere to run, was not only about to drag him away by force but was also preparing to remove his mask and face covering.

Just as he was about to make his move, Hugh Finch’s figure suddenly vanished, along with the case containing the Medicine.

Before the crowd could recover from what they had just witnessed, a piece of paper slowly fluttered down from the ceiling.

A message was written on it in an elegant, flowing script: "If you’re not going to do business in good faith, then forget it. Consider this a small lesson."

It was signed with a drawing of a ghost face.

Meanwhile, Hugh Finch was already back in the car. "I can’t believe they were so untrustworthy!" he said angrily.

Moira Lynch patted his shoulder. "This was exactly what you expected, wasn’t it? Besides, we didn’t lose out. We got the goods, and the Medicine is back with us."

Hearing this, Hugh Finch thought it over. ’That’s true,’ he thought. ’If they hadn’t been so untrustworthy, we wouldn’t have had such a... well, not a righteous reason, but a perfectly justifiable one to rip them off in return.’

"Let’s head back, then," Hugh Finch said, starting the car.

"Are we moving after we get back?" Moira Lynch asked.

"Not for now." Hugh Finch shook his head. "I did the calculations before. Moving now could expose our identities or even put us in danger."

"Then when are we moving?"

"In fifteen days. We’ll have a legitimate reason by then. After what happened today, those people probably won’t let this go."

Moira Lynch thought about it. ’That does make sense.’

The two didn’t drive straight back to the hotel. Instead, they went to an underground parking garage.

Moira Lynch got out, walked over to another car, and opened the door.

If one looked closely, they would see that this was the car Hugh Finch had been driving for the past few days.

A middle-aged man was unconscious in the driver’s seat.

"Hey, wake up."

The unconscious man began to stir, but before he could fully wake up and take in his surroundings, Moira Lynch hypnotized him.

"Now, drive that car over there back to the rental agency," Moira Lynch commanded.

"Yes."

The man struggled out of the driver’s seat and walked over to the car the two had just been driving.

Then, the pair got into his car and drove back to the hotel.

As they passed through the lobby, the young woman at the front desk was wearing headphones, but even so, she shot them an annoyed look when she heard their footsteps.

When their eyes met, Moira Lynch could feel the suppressed anger in the receptionist’s gaze.

However, they had learned a few things over the past few days. As long as they acted more fierce and unapproachable than her, she wouldn’t come over and bother them.

So, they both put on their foulest expressions.

Sure enough, after seeing their grim faces, the receptionist, though furious at the interruption, was told by what little reason she had left that these two were not people she could afford to mess with.

After returning to their room, Moira Lynch casually turned on the TV.

A news anchor’s voice filled the room.

"Emergency bulletin! Emergency bulletin! We interrupt this program with an emergency bulletin! Just a short while ago, the home of a wealthy local resident was burglarized. A large number of precious treasures were stolen. In order to apprehend the thieves as quickly as possible, the police will be conducting a city-wide search starting tomorrow. We ask all citizens for their full cooperation."

"This news report is clearly about us."

Moira Lynch made the judgment instantly after watching the news.

"Let them come. This is what we expected, right? We’re prepared. We’re not afraid of them investigating," Hugh Finch said with a relaxed expression.

Before the operation, they had already anticipated how things would unfold. So, Moira Lynch had used her spiritual power to hack into the local system early on, solving their problem of being undocumented. She also fabricated a backstory for them: orphans who had inherited a massive fortune.

The only tricky part was their names.

They had been living here for a while, so some people already knew their names.

But that wasn’t a problem for Moira Lynch. One takes the father’s surname, the other takes the mother’s. Problem solved.

The next day, they were awakened by a knock on the door.

Hugh Finch opened the door to find a stern-faced official standing outside.

"Hello. Routine inspection!"

Standing behind the official was the very same man who had made the deal with Hugh Finch the day before.

The man had lost all of his calm and collected demeanor from yesterday. He was now radiating a savage aura.

The man sized up Hugh Finch. The build was similar, as were the eyes.

"What’s your name? Did you go out yesterday?"

Hugh Finch nodded. "My name is Hugh Finch. I went out."

"What for?"

"To find someone."

"Who were you looking for?"

"My sister."

"What’s your sister’s name?"

"Moira Lynch."

"If you’re brother and sister, why do you have different surnames? Or are you faking it? You were really out doing something illegal yesterday, weren’t you!"

Faced with the accusation, Hugh Finch looked at the man as if he were insane. "One of us took our father’s surname, and the other took our mother’s. Is there a problem with that?"
