Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 571 - 561: Sound Source Pollution 13
It was the eighth day of the game, and also the day they had agreed to make the trade.
Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch arrived one after the other at the designated meeting place: a bar called Nightshade.
To avoid looking out of place, she had already visited once two days prior.
Moira Lynch acted the part of a rebellious teen who had snuck away from home, stumbling upon a bar called Nightshade. She decided it was a fun spot, so she’d been stopping by to hang out for the past two days.
Furthermore, she had even managed to befriend the bartender by giving him a pair of earphones.
As soon as she entered the bar today, Moira Lynch went straight to the counter and sat down.
"Not many customers today," Moira Lynch commented, her tone familiar.
The bartender was a young man, only three years older than Moira Lynch. Having dropped out of school early, he had already been working here for several years.
The earphones Moira Lynch had given him earlier had helped him out of a tight spot, so he had a very favorable impression of her.
Wiping a glass, the bartender leaned in and whispered, "I heard some big shot is making a major deal here today, so they cleared out all the local troublemakers."
"They only cleared out the troublemakers?" Moira Lynch asked, puzzled. "What kind of move is that? If you’re going to clear the place, shouldn’t you clear out everyone?"
"Who knows? The person coming today is supposed to be a big deal. I guess they want to be discreet."
Moira Lynch: ...
’First time I’ve heard of that method for being discreet.’
"In that case, I should probably head out early today," Moira Lynch said, then gave the bartender a smile. "I’d like that apple juice you made yesterday. I’ll leave as soon as I finish it."
"Alright."
Soon, the bartender brought over a glass of a green beverage.
Moira Lynch picked up the glass and began to drink in small, delicate sips, her movements quite ladylike.
Just then, Hugh Finch walked in.
He wore a black, hooded cloak that obscured the upper half of his face, while a black mask concealed the lower half, leaving only his eyes visible.
After entering, Hugh Finch first scanned his surroundings, discreetly locating Moira Lynch.
Hugh Finch’s voice echoed through the Communication Corridor. "They’re here. In the private room in the far corner of the third floor."
’The corner of the third floor?’
As Moira Lynch sipped her juice, she used her spiritual power to track Hugh Finch.
He stopped when he reached the farthest corner of the third floor.
’This corner really is secluded,’ she thought. ’I’d assumed it was a storage closet.’
Hugh Finch pushed the door open and stepped inside. A single man wearing glasses was waiting for him.
The man wore a practiced smile. "Master, I’ve been awaiting your arrival."
Since Hugh Finch hadn’t given his name previously, the man simply addressed him as "Master" as a sign of respect.
"I’m here. Where’s what I came for?" Hugh Finch asked.
His voice was slightly husky, clearly disguised.
The man’s smile remained unchanged. "Don’t be hasty, Master. You must allow me to inspect the goods first."
Hugh Finch nodded. Then, with a sweep of his hand, a pale blue vial of Medicine appeared on the table.
"Is this... Sleeve Universe!"
The man was clearly stunned by Hugh Finch’s trick, crying out involuntarily.
Realizing his breach of etiquette, the man gave an embarrassed laugh and asked, "May I ask what this Medicine does?"
"Limb regeneration. Consuming the entire bottle will regrow missing limbs, even internal organs. If you have the severed body part, applying a small amount of the Medicine to the wound will perfectly reattach it."
After hearing Hugh Finch’s explanation, the man’s eyes held both shock and skepticism. ’Could the Medicine really be that powerful?’
In truth, there was a very simple way to verify if the Medicine was as incredible as claimed.
The man drew a dagger from his belt and, without a moment’s hesitation, sliced off his own index finger.
As blood spurted from the wound, the man didn’t even blink.
After applying simple pressure to stanch the bleeding, the man picked up the vial of Medicine from the table, opened it, and dabbed a little onto his wound and the severed finger.
He pressed the severed digit to the stump. Two or three seconds passed, and the man’s eyes shot wide. He could actually feel his finger again.
Then, a miraculous scene unfolded: the wound on his finger began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.
In another private room, an elderly man sat on a sofa. His cloudy eyes were fixed on a screen in front of him, his entire body trembling with excitement.
The screen was displaying the very scene of the finger’s miraculous repair.
The same scene was playing out in several other private rooms at the same time.
If they were this shocked merely by watching, the man experiencing it firsthand felt it even more intensely.
For the first time in his life, he could clearly feel his own wound healing.
"You’ve tested the product. Can we proceed with the trade now?" Hugh Finch said in a calm, unhurried voice.
The rest of the transaction went smoothly.
Hugh Finch waved his hand again, and rows of various types of Medicine appeared on the table.
"There are one hundred seventy-five vials of Medicine in total. Their effects are written on the bottles." With that, Hugh Finch prepared to get up and leave.
Just then, however, two hulking men appeared from out of nowhere behind him, blocking his path.
Seeing this, Hugh Finch asked, his voice perfectly calm, "Am I being double-crossed?"
The man behind him quickly explained, "Of course not. Please rest assured, Master. What you came for is in this bar’s basement right now. My master simply wishes to befriend you. I wonder if you would do him the honor?"
"And if I say I’m not interested?"
The man’s smile remained fixed. "Master, my master means you no harm."
...
Meanwhile, having gotten the information she needed, Moira Lynch downed the rest of her juice, grabbed her schoolbag, and headed for the exit.
The "basement" they were talking about wasn’t a parking garage, but an underground vault, its entrance heavily guarded.
Naturally, this wasn’t a problem for Moira Lynch.
The trouble was that there were guards not only outside the vault, but inside as well—and there was surveillance.
The cameras provided 360-degree coverage with no blind spots. What’s more, any malfunction would immediately trigger an alarm, so she couldn’t simply disable them.
However, just because there were no blind spots *inside* the vault didn’t mean there weren’t any *outside*.
With this in mind, Moira Lynch made her way to the only blind spot at the vault’s entrance.
The four guards stationed outside were first stunned by Moira Lynch’s sudden appearance, then immediately reached for their weapons.
But Moira Lynch was faster.
She took out an item and instantly hypnotized all four of them, then ordered them to take the hypnotic device and two Space Buttons and enter the vault.
