Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 499 - 250: The Last Chance
Chapter 499: Chapter 250: The Last Chance
’Thirty-fifth place, huh...’
Pei Ze’s eyes flickered, but he wasn’t anxious.
It was the same for Xi Nan, Mo Weng, and the others. Though their expressions were grave, they showed no signs of panic.
The real trial had only just begun.
As long as their entire team remained intact, or at least most of them weren’t eliminated, their points and ranking would steadily climb.
As for the Wizard Cities that had most of their members eliminated, with only a handful left struggling to survive, their fate as mere participants was already sealed.
The Wizards from Red Lotus City and Blue Bay City, ranked in the thirties and forties, had the same idea.
All the Wizards were gritting their teeth and holding on.
About half an hour later, the number of Wizards on the wasteland had dwindled to less than five hundred.
Even Chenxi City had lost members; the two injured Councillors were the first to be taken out.
Ji Zhang, Yi Nan, and another Councillor were also beginning to show signs of exhaustion.
Pei Ze glanced at the rankings. The positions below fiftieth place had practically solidified, with almost no changes.
Those Wizard Cities had either been completely wiped out or were left with only one or two members. They could no longer change their fate of elimination.
Only among the top fifty Wizard Cities were the rankings still in flux.
Meanwhile, Chenxi City’s ranking had climbed to twenty-third.
Red Lotus City was ranked twenty-seventh.
Blue Bay City followed closely behind, occupying twenty-eighth place.
Yin Yongqin glanced at the rankings and nodded in silent approval.
This result already met the Dawn Council’s expectations.
With Pan Mo absent, they had all been mentally prepared to rank outside the top thirty in this qualification battle for the Holy Land.
Even after Pei Ze joined, that hadn’t changed.
After all, one newly promoted Sixth-level Wizard wasn’t expected to make a significant difference to their overall strength.
Yet the result had defied everyone’s expectations.
The strength Pei Ze displayed was in no way inferior to that of a veteran Sixth-level Wizard.
In fact, thanks to his magic pet, Pei Ze’s contribution on this kind of battlefield was even greater than Pan Mo’s would have been, allowing Chenxi City to surge into the top thirty.
This result was already close to matching Chenxi City’s historical record.
To date, Chenxi City’s best performance in the qualification battle for the Holy Land was merely seventeenth place; they had never once secured a spot to enter.
But now, it seemed breaking their record was a sure thing.
It might even be possible to secure a spot in the Holy Land.
Others might not know, but Yin Yongqin was certain: Pei Ze had yet to use his full strength.
After another ten minutes or so, a strange phenomenon occurred in the sky again.
The Wizards’ expressions turned incomparably grave as they looked up. They saw the many heads of the Mother of Nightmare Serpents once again coiling slowly in the sky.
This time, a full twenty serpent heads stretched out, transforming into a dense, dark fog.
The next moment, a sky-blotting barrage of air arrows, each as thick as a bucket, rained down.
The sheer power of this attack far surpassed the previous two.
Before the attack even landed, every Wizard present felt a sudden tightness in their chest, as if a heavy boulder was pressing down on their heart, making it difficult to breathe.
The air instantly grew heavy, pressing in from all sides and pinning the Wizards in place.
Pei Ze took a deep breath, feeling an unprecedented threat.
He didn’t dare to hold back any longer.
Blazing lightning surged forth, forming a thick defensive barrier before him. It was immediately followed by an invisible, slightly distorted field that enveloped his entire body.
The descending air arrows tore through the lightning with almost no resistance, annihilating it in an instant before continuing unabated toward Pei Ze.
However, upon entering a twenty-centimeter radius around Pei Ze, the arrows abruptly slowed down and began to shrink at a rate visible to the naked eye.
With every fraction of an inch it advanced, the air arrow shrank.
Though the distance was only twenty centimeters, it felt like a world away. The arrow’s energy was being constantly eroded across a seemingly vast expanse.
By the time it was only three or four centimeters from Pei Ze, the air arrow finally ran out of energy and dissipated into the air.
In the distance, Ding Ji and Yin Jin, who had just weathered the attack and were covered in dust, turned to see this exact moment. Their eyes widened in unison, shock written all over their faces.
Yin Jin was so stunned he blurted out:
"Rule of Space!"
Yin Jin had his suspicions when he’d previously seen the air arrows strangely deflecting around Pei Ze. Seeing this confirmed it.
’Pei Ze actually comprehended two Rules at the same time!’
Both Ding Ji and Yin Jin were stunned.
’Unlike elemental energy, where one can only choose a single type to integrate, the Power of Rules doesn’t have such a restriction. Even so, very few Wizards would actually try to comprehend two Rules simultaneously.’
’The Rules are as deep as an ocean; comprehending just one is already an immense struggle.’
’How many Wizards have exhausted tens of thousands of years of their lives just to comprehend a single Rule of Elements, dying without ever breaking through that final threshold?’
’Comprehending two Rules at once isn’t as simple as one plus one; the difficulty increases several-fold, even ten-fold.’
’Since the founding of the Star Realm Alliance, it wasn’t as if no Wizard had ever tried to comprehend two Rules at once.’
’Among them were peerless geniuses whose talent was astonishing.’
’But more than ninety-nine percent of them ultimately failed, fading into obscurity without making a single ripple.’
’Only a tiny handful ever succeeded, becoming major figures of great importance in the Star Realm Alliance.’
’But even they had only ever comprehended two types of the Rule of Elements simultaneously.’
’Someone like Pei Ze, comprehending the Rule of Lightning and the supreme Rule of Space at the same time... was completely unheard of.’
’How is that any different from sealing one’s own path forward?’
’No, forget comprehending two Rules at once—mastering the Rule of Space alone is already next to impossible.’
