Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 498 - 249: Even the Magic Pet is This Monstrous?
Chapter 498: Chapter 249: Even the Magic Pet is This Monstrous?
At this, Pei Ze’s heart tightened.
He hadn’t held back in the slightest—at least, not with his Rule of Lightning. He had been using its full power.
Even so, his defense had been on the verge of shattering.
The Wizards weaker than him likely wouldn’t meet a good end.
Pei Ze glanced around and, just as he’d feared, saw numerous Wizards being engulfed by the ethereal arrows.
THUD. THUD. THUD. The ethereal arrows slammed into the spots where they had been standing. Blade-like currents of air struck the ground, sending earth and stone flying and instantly leaving behind a pockmarked field of craters.
The Wizards themselves had vanished without a trace.
In that single attack, at least thirty to forty Wizards had been "killed."
And this devastating power came from an attack launched by just one of the Mother of Nightmare Serpents’ heads.
Pei Ze instantly gained a new appreciation for the legendary power of the Mother of Nightmare Serpents.
’If this were the real Mother of Nightmare Serpents, one blow would likely be enough to wipe out every Wizard present.’
Pei Ze lamented internally.
In the distance, the fog churned, rapidly coalescing into new Nightmare Serpents.
However, unlike before, these Nightmare Serpents were larger and now sported two pairs of wings on their backs.
Pei Ze immediately scanned them with his Eye of Omniscience and discovered that the power of these Nightmare Serpents had reached the Fifth Level.
Their numbers hadn’t changed, but their individual power had soared. The pressure on the Wizards instantly intensified, and they could no longer fight with their previous ease.
At the same time, the points for killing a Nightmare Serpent increased to 5.
The fluctuations in points and rankings instantly became more volatile.
Pei Ze remained perfectly calm, standing his ground and leaving the fighting entirely to Wuyu.
In terms of individual strength, a Fog Crow was inferior to a Level 5 Nightmare Serpent.
But in terms of numbers, the former held an incomparable advantage.
Fewer than twenty Nightmare Serpents were swarming Pei Ze, but they were met by a force of over a thousand Fog Crows. The fight was completely one-sided.
From a distance, Ding Ji witnessed the scene, the corner of his eye twitching. His expression was incredibly complex.
’To summon dozens of familiar derivatives close to the Fifth Level, the master himself might only be at Level 5 Peak.’
’But summoning *thousands* of them? The master has to be at the Sixth Level. There’s no doubt about it.’
’It’s one thing for the guy to be a monster himself, but even his familiar is this outrageous.’
Ding Ji couldn’t help but lament once more, why couldn’t Red Lotus City produce a genius like Pei Ze?
It wasn’t just the others; even the members of the Dawn Council were taken aback.
Xi Nan and the others had long since heard from Ji Zhang that Pei Ze had a Level 5 familiar. But looking at it now, how could this be Level 5? It was clearly at the Sixth Level!
For a moment, quite a few Wizards felt a surge of envy.
After all, this was a Sixth-Level familiar, whose combat power was not much inferior to that of a Sixth-level Wizard.
HISS!
The Nightmare Serpents surged toward the Wizards like a tide. No matter how many were slain, an equal number would be born from the fog.
Furthermore, as time passed, the strength of the Nightmare Serpents continued to increase.
It was as if their "soul fusion" was increasing every second, to use an analogy.
Faced with this seemingly endless and ferocious onslaught, some of the weaker Wizards began to show signs of faltering.
Over half an hour later, a Wizard let out a furious roar as a violent burst of flame erupted from his body. Like a miniature sun, it instantly incinerated more than thirty Nightmare Serpents within a radius of several hundred meters, but he was then engulfed by the next wave.
His "death" in battle seemed to be the prelude to a coming slaughter, as more and more Wizards fell one after another to the serpent swarms.
As the number of Wizards dwindled, those remaining had to face an increasing number of Nightmare Serpents. The pressure rose sharply, causing even more Wizards to buckle and be "killed."
At this moment, Pei Ze still hadn’t personally entered the fray.
However, Wuyu had already summoned the maximum number of Fog Crows.
After ascending to the Sixth Level, the combat power of the Fog Crows Wuyu summoned had improved significantly, but their numbers had plummeted to just over two thousand.
Wuyu had now summoned all of them, but they were only just barely holding off the siege of nearly one hundred Nightmare Serpents.
A moment later, Wuyu finally entered the fray itself.
A sharp cry suddenly rang out as a stream of black light shot through the Nightmare Serpent swarm like a lightning bolt. In its wake, the serpents collapsed into mist and disappeared.
In a mere instant, more than thirty Nightmare Serpents were annihilated, clearing a large swath through the dense swarm.
After absorbing the Cyan Flame from the God of Decay and Death, Wuyu’s comprehension progress of the Rule of Death had reached 5.25%.
In terms of pure Rule Power, Wuyu was already on par with a Sixth-level Wizard who had about 30% comprehension in a Rule of Elements.
With such power, dealing with mere Level 5 Nightmare Serpents was effortless.
Nearby Wizards who witnessed this were all astonished.
"The Rule of Death!"
"A familiar can master Rule Power?"
"How is that even possible?"
Mo Weng, Xi Nan, and the others stared at each other, their eyes filled with utter shock.
They had thought that raising a familiar to the Sixth Level was already unbelievable. They never expected that the familiar had also comprehended the Power of Rules—and a superior one like the Rule of Death at that!
The corner of Ding Ji’s mouth twitched, and for a moment, he was speechless.
’He’d only comprehended the Rule of Flame, which didn’t even measure up to a familiar.’
WHOOSH!
Just then, the Mother of Nightmare Serpents high in the sky made a new move.
Hundreds of its serpent heads coiled in on themselves again, but this time, a full five heads lunged forward.
The Wizards’ faces paled at the sight, and they scrambled to muster their full defenses.
Sure enough, the next moment, countless ethereal arrows rained from the sky, sweeping down upon the Wizards like an apocalyptic torrent. The sight was utterly terrifying.
The moment the serpent heads moved, Pei Ze decisively ordered Wuyu to recall the Fog Crows. As soon as Wuyu landed back on his shoulder, a searing torrent of lightning surged from his body to meet the incoming ethereal arrows.
The white ethereal arrows and the brilliant lightning annihilated each other in the void, canceling each other out.
But this time, the sheer number of arrows was far greater than before. The lightning was ultimately outmatched and extinguished by the onslaught. The remaining force of the arrows continued unabated toward Pei Ze, but just as it was about to reach him, it suddenly veered aside, slamming into the ground next to him and blasting out a shocking crater.
From afar, Yin Jin happened to see this, and a flicker of surprised doubt flashed in his eyes.
The Mother of Nightmare Serpents’ second round of attacks successfully "killed" more than two hundred Wizards.
The trial had been underway for less than two hours, yet nearly five hundred Sixth-level Wizards had already been tragically eliminated, reducing the total number by almost a quarter.
Several of the weaker Wizard Cities had their entire teams eliminated, prematurely ending their bid for a spot in the Holy Land.
Fortunately, all nine Wizards from Chenxi City were still in the running, although two had suffered fairly serious injuries.
And after the second round of attacks, the individual power of the Nightmare Serpents born from the fog broke through a threshold, reaching the Sixth Level.
Fortunately, their numbers were also sharply reduced to around five or six thousand.
Even so, facing a Sixth-Level fighting force that outnumbered them several times over, the Wizards still felt an unprecedented amount of pressure.
At some point, Pei Ze’s body had become completely translucent, with brilliant lightning clearly visible flashing within him.
He took a single step forward, and his entire being transformed into a ferocious bolt of lightning that instantly tore through the void. He appeared behind a Nightmare Serpent and placed his hand on its head.
CRACKLE!
A massive amount of brilliant lightning erupted from nothing, engulfing the Nightmare Serpent’s head.
By the time the lightning dissipated, the Nightmare Serpent had become a headless corpse, which then promptly disintegrated into mist.
’Roughly equivalent to a 5% comprehension progress in a Rule of Elements.’
Through the Eye of Omniscience, Pei Ze quickly determined the combat level of these Nightmare Serpents.
It was roughly equivalent to that of a newly ascended Sixth-level Wizard.
This level of power was, of course, far from enough to concern Pei Ze.
Even without using the Rule of Space, his comprehension of the Rule of Lightning alone was at 20%, and his actual combat power was far greater than that would suggest.
Dealing with these Nightmare Serpents was child’s play for him.
The only problem was their overwhelming numbers.
Right now, there were seven or eight Nightmare Serpents swarming him.
As time went on and more Wizards were "killed" and forced to withdraw, that number was steadily increasing.
If it weren’t for Wuyu’s help, Pei Ze would likely be getting overwhelmed by now.
At this point, the gap between the various Wizard Cities finally became clear.
Unsurprisingly, Silver Stream City held the top spot.
They were followed by Mingying City and Green Forest City, both recognized as established powerhouses.
Chenxi City was ranked thirty-fifth, a performance that was neither good nor bad.
Close behind were Blue Bay City and Red Lotus City.
