Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 500 - 250: The Last Chance (Part 2)
Chapter 500: Chapter 250: The Last Chance (Part 2)
Was Pei Ze really that confident in himself?
Ding Ji and Yin Jin couldn’t understand.
HISS!
After a volley of energy arrows, the Nightmare Serpents continued their charge toward the crowd.
That last attack had directly wiped out more than half the Wizards. On the leaderboard, the rankings for over a dozen Wizard Cities immediately froze.
They had clearly been completely eliminated.
Now, only a little over two hundred Wizards remained on the wasteland.
Judging by the changing scores, they belonged to more than forty different Wizard Cities.
Pei Ze glanced around and saw that Yi Nan and another Councillor were gone. They had obviously ’died in battle’ during the recent energy arrow attack.
Including him, Chenxi City now only had five members left, with nearly half of them eliminated.
However, that was actually a good outcome compared to the others.
Cities like Red Lotus City and Blue Bay City only had three or four people remaining.
Some Wizard Cities were even down to a single survivor, struggling to hold on.
The one with the most preserved combat strength was Silver Stream City, which still had twelve Wizards in formation, fending off the swarming Nightmare Serpents.
If nothing unexpected happened, first place in this Holy Land qualification battle was surely in the bag for Silver Stream City.
Mingying City and Green Forest City each had seven or eight Wizards left. Their scores were far ahead of fourth place, so securing a spot for the Holy Land shouldn’t be a problem for them either.
’Three spots are already locked in. The remaining Wizard Cities are competing for the last two.’
Pei Ze observed the situation while slaughtering Nightmare Serpents.
Although more than forty Wizard Cities were still on the wasteland, only about twenty of them were truly competitive.
You could tell from the leaderboard. Only the top twenty were still seeing significant point increases; the rest were no longer a threat.
Chenxi City’s rank had risen to thirteenth, but the gap with those behind it wasn’t large, and they could be overtaken at any moment.
Pei Ze was starting to understand. Simply slaughtering Nightmare Serpents wasn’t enough to create a significant lead.
Instead, every attack from the Mother of Nightmare Serpents was the main reason for the drastic shifts in the rankings.
Each volley of energy arrows would cause some Wizard Cities to be eliminated directly or lose their competitiveness.
This was reflected in the rankings: these Wizard Cities’ ranks would stagnate, or their score growth would slow, allowing them to be surpassed by the cities behind them.
Therefore, as long as they could safely withstand the attacks from the Mother of Nightmare Serpents, their ranking would naturally rise.
And the further back they were, the more their rank would climb.
’The next round of attacks should be coming soon.’
Pei Ze looked up at the serpent heads moving slowly across the sky.
As if to confirm his suspicion, the serpent heads began to move in a circle once more.
This time, however, something was completely different.
The surrounding Nightmare Serpents all froze. Then, like snow melting under the sun, they rapidly dissolved back into mist, which drifted upward and merged into the body of the Mother of Nightmare Serpents.
The next moment, under everyone’s stunned gazes, the hundreds of serpent heads opened their maws and shot down toward them in a silent, ravenous roar.
One of the heads was plummeting directly toward Pei Ze’s position.
The mountain-sized serpent head fell like a meteor, making Pei Ze’s scalp tingle for an instant.
He didn’t hesitate to unleash a massive blast of lightning at the serpent head.
However, the serpent head didn’t even try to dodge. It simply crashed through the lightning and continued toward Pei Ze like a shooting star.
But just as it was about to hit, the serpent head’s speed suddenly slowed.
Seizing that split second, Pei Ze teleported away without hesitation, reappearing several kilometers away with a flicker of lingering fear in his eyes.
If it weren’t for the help of the Rule of Space, he would have suffered a major blow from that attack.
The attack power of the serpent head far surpassed the previous energy arrows; their might wasn’t even comparable.
Looking around again, the number of Wizards had clearly been drastically reduced.
At least a hundred Wizards had died in that last wave of attacks.
Faced with the serpent heads’ attacks, most Wizards could only dodge. Their Soul Energy attacks, infused with Rule Power, only stirred up some mist when they landed on the heads, having no other effect.
Pei Ze even saw Yin Yongqin struggling to fend off a serpent head’s assault, looking quite battered.
He had heard from Mo Weng that Yin Yongqin comprehended the Rule of Shadow, and his comprehension progress was over fifty percent. His strength was comparable to a Sixth-level Wizard who had comprehended seventy or eighty percent of the Rule of Elements.
Yet even an expert like him was at a disadvantage against the serpent head.
This just showed how terrifyingly powerful the serpent heads were.
And there were a hundred of them!
At this moment, fewer than a hundred Wizards were left on the wasteland.
Almost every Wizard had to face a serpent head.
A few unlucky ones even had to fight two at once.
Its attack having missed, the serpent head seemed to be enraged. It let out a silent roar to the sky and lunged forward, quick as a flash of lightning. It was even faster than before.
Pei Ze’s expression turned solemn. He decided not to dodge again. With a decisive thought, a brilliant, crystalline Space Rule Crystal deep within his Sea of Consciousness suddenly shattered, and a surging, immense energy instantly gushed out.
A faint silver light instantly enveloped Pei Ze’s entire body.
He stood motionless, allowing the serpent head to slam into him like a high-speed locomotive.
But to everyone’s astonishment, the serpent head passed right through Pei Ze’s body.
It was as if he wasn’t really there, and what hovered in his place was merely a virtual projection.
There was a type of High-level Magic that could temporarily transform a person’s body into an existence similar to a Spirit Body. Although they could be seen in the material world, their actual body was located in the Spirit Realm, making them immune to all attacks.
And what Pei Ze was now using was a similar ability.
Using the Rule of Space, he had temporarily shifted his true body into a different dimension to avoid the serpent head’s attack.
After the serpent head had passed completely through his body, Pei Ze instantly exited the other dimension and pointed a finger.
Silently, the space around the serpent head suddenly collapsed, rapidly condensing into a single point.
Without even a chance to resist, the serpent head distorted and vanished in an instant, leaving only a long neck made of mist behind.
Even in the midst of fierce battle, the intense fluctuation of the Rule of Space drew the attention of many Wizards.
When they saw this, the surrounding Wizards’ eyes widened, and they gasped in shock.
"The Power of Spatial Rules!"
"Someone actually comprehends the Rule of Space!"
"A Peak Level 6 Wizard? But I don’t recognize his face. I’ve never seen him before."
Cries of alarm rose one after another.
Peak Level 6 Wizards who could wield the Power of Rules were few and far between, but they did exist.
But one who could wield the Power of Spatial Rules was unheard of.
Just who was this person?
The most shocked of all were Xi Nan, Mo Weng, and the other members of the Dawn Council, as well as Ding Ji and Yin Jin.
They all knew Pei Ze could use the Power of Rules, but they had always assumed it was the Power of Thunder Rules. Who would have thought that Pei Ze had actually mastered the Power of Spatial Rules!
While both were forms of the Power of Rules, the difference between the two was like night and day.
"Incredible..."
Even with Yin Yongqin’s experience and composure, he couldn’t help but gasp.
The might of the Power of Spatial Rules was beyond question.
Even if Pei Ze had only recently become a Sixth-level Wizard, with his rule comprehension progress in the single digits at best, as long as he could wield the Power of Spatial Rules, his combat prowess was definitely no less than those true Peak Level 6 Wizards.
Coming to their senses, the members of the Dawn Council exchanged glances, looks of pleasant surprise appearing in their eyes.
They never would have imagined that Pei Ze would give them such a huge surprise.
The stronger Pei Ze was, the greater Chenxi City’s chances of securing a spot in the Holy Land.
Ignoring the gazes of those around him, Pei Ze focused his attention on the leaderboard.
The moment he annihilated the serpent head, Chenxi City’s score shot up dramatically, jumping four places and breaking into the top ten.
’So that’s how it is. You get points for killing the serpent heads.’
A glint appeared in Pei Ze’s eyes as he looked up at the serpent heads slowly reforming in the sky.
It was obvious that this was the final stage of the Holy Land trial.
By killing a serpent head, one could obtain a massive number of points, far more than before.
This was also the last chance for the various Wizard Cities to improve their rankings.
Glancing at the eleven remaining Space Rule Crystals deep within his Sea of Consciousness, Pei Ze smiled. His figure flashed as he took the initiative and charged toward another serpent head.
