Chapter 485: Chapter 243: The Cavalry Has Arrived

"You’re a clever little thing."

Pei Ze chuckled and beckoned with his hand. The red bat obediently flew over to him.

"Did you lead me all the way here just so I could watch a fight?"

The red bat flitted from side to side as if to say no, then continued flying forward.

Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. Pushing aside his questions, he followed.

After another ten minutes or so, the red bat finally stopped, hovering and circling in place.

Confusion flickered in Pei Ze’s eyes. He stepped forward to take a closer look and finally noticed that something was off.

"An illusion technique?"

’What an incredibly high-level technique! Even with my Spiritual Power, I couldn’t detect a thing from more than ten meters away.’

A look of shock appeared on Pei Ze’s face.

’Even a Rule Wizard couldn’t have set up such a master-level Illusion Technique, could they?’

After a moment’s hesitation, Pei Ze glanced at the red bat. In the end, his curiosity getting the better of him, he reached out.

He soon touched an invisible barrier.

CRACKLE!

A torrent of lightning surged from his palm and spread across the barrier.

Pei Ze’s skill with Illusion Techniques wasn’t exceptional. At best, he was slightly better than other Wizards of his level. He had never specialized in the field, though he had absorbed a vast amount of knowledge on the subject with his Eye of Omniscience.

However, with the Eye of Omniscience, finding a weakness in the barrier wouldn’t be difficult.

About four or five minutes later, the empty space before him twisted violently, and a dark, shadowy opening appeared.

An icy aura of death instantly flooded through the opening and enveloped Pei Ze, so oppressive that the lightning arcing around him dimmed.

’What a potent death aura!’

Pei Ze drew in a sharp breath, his eyes filled with suspicion and surprise.

’This aura... it feels very similar to the Cyan Flame that Pan Mo was using.’

’What’s the connection between them?’

Pei Ze’s mind raced with more and more questions.

While he was still hesitating about whether to enter, the red bat flew past his shoulder and into the shadowy opening.

Seeing this, Pei Ze took a deep breath and, no longer hesitating, stepped through.

In the cold, silent hall, pale flames burned without a sound.

Gu Lin sat dazedly on the floor, staring at the flames a short distance away. After a moment, she sighed.

She had been trapped in the hall for over a month. Although Annie’s protection kept her safe from the Cyan Flame Divine Domain and she didn’t have to worry about food or water, she still felt utterly depressed.

Hearing the girl’s sigh, Annie opened her eyes. She glanced over and said, "Enduring loneliness and solitude is a fundamental skill for a Wizard. It’s only been a little over a month. You can’t take it anymore?"

Gu Lin pouted. "How is this the same?"

"We’re trapped in this hall, and only Pan Mo knows we’re here! That old bastard would never dare let you out. If no one comes to rescue us, aren’t we going to be trapped here until we die?"

"Relax, it won’t come to that," Annie said leisurely.

Gu Lin gave her a suspicious look and frowned. "How would you know? Have you had a way out this whole time?"

Annie simply smiled and said nothing.

Gu Lin had only been a little suspicious, but Annie’s reaction confirmed her guess. She scrambled over, overjoyed, and started shaking Annie’s arm.

"What is it? C’mon, tell me!"

Just as Annie, worn down by the pestering, was about to answer, her expression shifted. She turned to face the entrance, a smile touching her lips.

"Our rescuer is here."

Gu Lin heard the footsteps then, too, and stared at the entrance in astonishment.

Soon, a tall, slender figure came into view.

The moment she saw the newcomer clearly, Gu Lin’s eyes widened in pure joy.

"Pei Ze!"

’She never imagined she’d see Pei Ze here.’

"So it is you two."

Pei Ze’s gaze swept around the hall, a curious expression on his face.

"What’s going on here?"

Annie smiled faintly. "We were a bit careless. We walked into a trap and got stuck in a Divine Domain."

Pei Ze’s expression flickered. "Pan Mo?" he blurted out.

"You’ve seen him?"

Pei Ze recounted what had just happened.

"Ah, that explains it," Annie said, realization dawning on her. "No wonder you got in so easily."

"Wait a second." Gu Lin finally snapped out of her daze and asked, "Pei Ze, what are you doing here?"

Pei Ze shrugged and pointed to the red bat beside him. "You’ll have to ask Annie."

Gu Lin turned to look at Annie.

The latter smiled. "When we were in Broken Domain Town, remember how we visited the Red Shroud? The woman there told me a young Level 5 Wizard had come to the abyss for the blood war. I guessed it had to be Pei Ze, and a little investigation confirmed it."

It all clicked for Gu Lin.

’No wonder Annie had been so calm. She must have been prepared all along, knowing Pei Ze would come and rescue them.’

Once she figured this out, she couldn’t help but shoot Annie a resentful look.

’This scheming Vampire Wizard!’

’She had a backup plan this whole time and never told me, letting me live on pins and needles for over a month. What a truly awful personality!’

Ignoring Gu Lin’s glare, Annie said to Pei Ze, "Pei Ze, sorry to trouble you, but we need your help destroying the Array Patterns on the floor."

Pei Ze gave a slight nod. He glanced at the body of the Divine Spirit on the throne, and things began to click into place.

’If I’m not mistaken, that Divine Spirit’s corpse must be the legendary God of Decay and Death.’

’And this must be the place where He fell.’

’Annie and Gu Lin must have stumbled upon this place by accident. But Pan Mo beat them to it, and they ended up falling into his trap, getting stuck here.’
