Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 474 - 237: Brutal War, Fusion Degree Soars
Chapter 474: Chapter 237: Brutal War, Fusion Degree Soars
Pei Ze estimated that, at this rate, the six drops of the Power of Rules could increase his soul fusion by 14% to 15% at most—the equivalent of twenty or thirty years of training.
"Whew!"
Pei Ze suppressed his joy and dove back into the battle.
As time passed, the demons began to leverage their numerical superiority.
Countless demons swarmed from all directions, establishing an absolute advantage in numbers.
The devils could only rely on their formations to hold the line, but they were gradually beginning to show signs of faltering.
Seeing this, the Devil General on the fortress wall brandished his long saber and issued a command. A squad of Forgefiends appeared behind him, vanished, and reappeared in the next instant, hovering above the battlefield.
In the next moment, walls of flame erupted from the ground, partitioning the Demon Army into dozens of sections. A barrage of huge, orange-red Fireballs shot from the Forgefiends’ hands, bombarding their predetermined targets—the demons and outsiders who stood out on the battlefield.
Pei Ze was one of their targets.
In an instant, a torrent of enormous Fireballs rained down from the sky, surrounding Pei Ze.
Pei Ze’s eyebrow twitched, but his expression remained fearless. With a casual wave of his hand, a blazing arc of lightning shot upward, striking a Fireball and triggering a violent, chain-reaction explosion.
This was just the beginning.
The Forgefiends then roared to the heavens before scattering, each one charging toward its target.
Pei Ze, of course, found himself facing a Forgefiend.
In the hierarchy of devils, Forgefiends were unquestionably a high-ranking species.
They were expert manipulators of Fire Elemental Energy and possessed masterful combat skills.
Typically, a single Forgefiend possessed power equivalent to the Fifth Level.
An elite Forgefiend could even reach the Sixth Level, strong enough to hold its own against a Great Demon like a Red Shroud.
The Forgefiend charging at Pei Ze possessed power equivalent to the Fifth Level.
Far from being alarmed, Pei Ze was delighted. The look in his eyes was that of a predator spotting its prey as he charged fearlessly to meet the attack.
「Behind the Demon Army.」
Seeing the Forgefiends join the battle, a cold light flashed in Brad’s eyes and he sneered.
"Deploy the Flame Demons on standby."
As a vanguard for the demons, Brad had endured countless bloody wars. He had grown from a tiny Inferior Demon into the Great Demon he was today, and he knew this kind of battle inside and out.
He had anticipated every move the devils made.
’These cunning bastards may have their strategic and tactical advantages, but so what?’
’In the face of truly overwhelming power, all of that is meaningless.’
’Power. Only power is fundamental. Only power is truth. Only power is everything.’
ROAR!
As if to confirm his thoughts, thousands of Flame Demons roared as they joined the battlefield, each seeking out a Forgefiend.
Although the Flame Demons were weaker than the Forgefiends individually, they had superior numbers. Soon, the two forces were locked in a stalemate.
The Demon Army, which had been losing ground after the Forgefiends’ arrival, now regained its footing. In turn, it was the devils who found themselves on the defensive once more.
A flicker of smug satisfaction crossed Brad’s eyes as he watched the scene unfold.
He despised them to his core, these devils that had crawled out of the Nine Layers of Hell.
’Inferior, cowardly, and fragile. They cling to their ridiculous rules, capable only of hiding in the shadows and weaving their little plots.’
’All of it just proved the devils’ inherent weakness.’
With a disdainful snort, Brad was about to issue a new command when his gaze suddenly froze, landing on a figure on the battlefield.
It was a human in a black robe and mask, his body surging with a blindingly brilliant light. He was practically a humanoid figure made of pure lightning. He was locked in combat with a Forgefiend, suppressing it so completely that it was utterly overwhelmed.
’A Level 5 Wizard?’
Brad narrowed his eyes, finding it somewhat interesting.
’Wizards are usually the most resistant to mutations of the Spirit, yet lately, so many have been joining these bloody battles.’
’No, it’s not just these wars. The number of Wizards entering the Abyss has clearly spiked recently.’
’I wonder what those bastards are up to?’
The thought flashed through Brad’s mind for only a moment before he dismissed it.
Despite his doubts, Brad didn’t intend to investigate further.
In these wars, Great Demons rarely took to the field themselves—unless one side was assaulting the other’s core territory. Most of the time, the strongest combatants on the battlefield were Fifth Level fiends, like the Forgefiends.
Occasionally, a Sixth Level elite Forgefiend might join the fray, but that was the absolute limit.
Therefore, on the battlefield, the Fifth Level was already considered high-end combat power.
A Level 5 Wizard, in particular, was often even more powerful in combat than many Forgefiends.
Having another Level 5 Wizard fighting on their side was a significant boon for the demons.
The situation before him proved it: after dispatching his opponent, the Level 5 Wizard immediately sought out another Forgefiend.
ROAR!
Dazzling lightning submerged the Forgefiend’s massive body, and the terrifying energy utterly annihilated it.
Feeling the surging power flow into his body, a trace of joy flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes.
’As expected, the rewards for killing an enemy of the same level are far greater!’
A single Forgefiend had contributed 0.12% to his soul fusion—more than he’d gained from slaughtering tens of thousands of lesser devils.
Seeing his soul fusion about to reach 3%, Pei Ze felt a renewed sense of purpose and charged toward a third Forgefiend.
Although he had only recently advanced to Level 5, his prior foundation was incredibly deep. His true combat strength was greater than that of many veteran Level 5 Wizards, to say nothing of a common Forgefiend.
In Pei Ze’s eyes, these Forgefiends were no different from elite monsters. Dealing with them took some time and effort, but they posed no real threat.
However, the other outsiders on the battlefield were already staring in stunned silence—not just those on the demon’s side, but those fighting for the devils as well.
Watching that figure carve through devils with ease—even Forgefiends couldn’t last half an hour against him—many of the outsiders couldn’t help but feel their hearts tremble in fear.
The outsiders on the devils’ side began to give him a wide berth, terrified of confronting such a powerful Wizard.
The black-striped youth and the stout Wizard exchanged a look, their eyes filled with mutual, intense shock.
Without exchanging a single word, they both reached the same silent conclusion.
’We have to get him to join us!’
...
The Abyss has no distinction between night and day.
In the heat of a bloody war, it is easy to forget the passage of time.
On the boundless wasteland, the armies of demons and devils had been locked in a grueling battle for seven days and nights.
The soil was soaked deep with blood, giving it an eerie, dark-red hue.
Pale green shoots sprouted from the cracks in the rocks. They bore small, octagonal, trumpet-shaped flowers, blood-red in color, that trembled slightly in the wind. This was Bloody Grass, a plant that grew only on battlefields and along the banks of the River of Blood.
BWOOO!
The sound of a horn came from the direction of the Bronze Castle.
The Devil Army paused for a beat, then began to retreat.
They were well-trained, and their withdrawal was swift. The demons’ chaotic pursuit had little effect; as they neared the Bronze Castle, they were driven back by a dense volley of arrows.
Brad didn’t press the pursuit, instead giving the order to retreat and regroup.
The cheers of the demons echoed over the battlefield.
They danced and brandished their weapons, roaring at the sky in celebration of their victory.
Brad’s expression, however, remained impassive, showing no hint of joy.
’This is only the beginning,’ he thought. ’The battles to come will be far more brutal.’
’Only when we destroy the devils’ Bronze Fortress and drive them from the Wanyuan Plain can we claim true victory.’
After one last, deep look at Pei Ze in the distance, Brad turned and flew toward a distant spire, preparing to seek an audience with Glazite.
Pei Ze naturally noticed Brad’s gaze, but didn’t pay it any mind. His thoughts were all focused on the changes in his soul.
After seven days and nights of intense battle, the Power of Rules deep within his Sea of Consciousness was completely depleted.
But the rewards he’d reaped were more than gratifying.
Soul Fusion: 16.12%
Elemental Origin: 8060
His soul fusion had increased by nearly 15%.
His Elemental Origin had skyrocketed by nearly nine times.
The increase in his power was immense!
Pei Ze was overjoyed. ’At this rate,’ he thought, ’it won’t be long before I can break through and become a Sixth-level Wizard.’
’I should be able to handle more of the Power of Rules now.’
’Before the next battle begins, I need to focus on regenerating my Power of Rules.’
