Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 473 - 237: Brutal War, Soaring Fusion Rate
Pei Ze gazed at the distant Bronze Fortress.
The Demon Army had already formed up, with every soldier in position. Their spears were like a forest so dense they blotted out the sun, and their armor shone like polished mirrors.
A humanoid devil stood on the city wall, apparently the commander of the devil forces, giving a speech to boost morale.
In contrast, the demons' side was still a chaotic mess; some demons had even started fighting amongst themselves.
Pei Ze was speechless. He began to wonder if he had chosen the wrong side.
'Maybe I should have joined the devils?'
Just then, the long, clear sound of a horn suddenly blared.
At the same time, atop the walls of the Bronze Castle, the devils sounded their war drums.
As the drums beat, the Demon Army began to move. They advanced slowly at first, their speed increasing until it became an orderly charge.
The demons, on the other hand, were spurred on by the enemy's advance. Without waiting for their officers' commands, they charged forward, screaming and shouting.
Looking down from high above, the two armies were like two raging torrents crashing violently into each other, instantly kicking up a storm of blood and gore.
The blood war had erupted!
The moment they clashed, the devils' side immediately gained the upper hand.
In a large-scale war like this, the strength of an individual became insignificant. What truly decided the outcome was morale, equipment, teamwork, and adaptive command—all of which were the devils' strengths.
The demons' vanguard was routed almost instantly, scattering and fleeing with shrieks. However, they were swiftly killed by their own comrades charging up from behind.
With bloodshot eyes and savage expressions, the demons slaughtered any creature in their path, whether it was an enemy or an ally.
It was a good thing the demons had the advantage in numbers, with a never-ending stream of soldiers surging from the rear. Otherwise, the war might have ended as soon as it began due to their infighting.
ROAR!
Screams and roars echoed ceaselessly across the wasteland.
Hook Demons swung their greatswords, effortlessly cutting down Flomars and Babu Demons. The Bone Demon Spear Array held back the charge of the Frenzy Demons. Skeleton Sub-dragons dove from the sky, while Chain Devils swung their chains in a fierce counterattack. Ice Demons, riding on nightmares, plunged into the demon horde, reaping enemy lives with long blades woven from lightning and flame.
The slaughter gradually spread from the center of the battlefield to the flanks. Soon, the squad Pei Ze was in also joined the brutal fray.
A Hook Demon, swinging a greatsword, charged toward Pei Ze. Its hideous face was filled with sadistic killing intent, but in the next second, a bolt of lightning shot out, piercing its brow like a sharp arrow.
Before it could even scream, the Hook Demon's head exploded with a BAM! Its body swayed a few times before crashing to the ground, as dead as could be.
Countless astonished gazes immediately fell upon him from all around.
Many of the outsiders drew a sharp breath in shock.
'A Hook Demon is a Level 3 devil, yet it was killed in one hit?'
"So strong!"
"That bolt of lightning just now... that was a Wizard, right?"
"A Level 4 Wizard at least. Why would an expert of that caliber come to participate in the Blood War?"
Wizards were a rare sight on the battlefield of a Blood War, let alone one at Level 4 or higher. The outsiders couldn't help but feel a mix of shock and suspicion.
The black-tattooed man and the stout Wizard not far away were also taken aback, having never imagined that the mysterious Wizard was so powerful.
Soon, however, they had no time for shock. The fierce battle instantly consumed their full attention.
Pei Ze paid no mind to the stares, instead focusing his attention inward to feel the changes in his body.
The moment he killed the Hook Demon, he keenly sensed an invisible power from the ether merging into his body. The fusion of his Elemental Fire and his soul seemed to have advanced by an imperceptible fraction.
However, the change was so minuscule that it didn't even register in the fusion progress section on his status panel.
If he hadn't been prepared and paying close attention, he would have easily missed it.
'So this is the gift of the Blood War?'
A sharp glint flashed in Pei Ze's eyes. He reached out and grasped, and with a CRACKLE, lightning appeared in his palm, instantly solidifying into a spear.
The next moment, he hurled the spear with all his might.
With a piercing whistle, the Thunder Spear shot out over a thousand meters. Every devil in its path was impaled, then turned to charcoal by the exploding lightning!
The spear finally struck an Ice Demon and then detonated violently. Blazing lightning ravaged the area in all directions with the Ice Demon at its center, instantly turning all devils within a hundred-meter radius to ash.
That single strike killed four to five hundred devils, including a Level 4 Ice Demon.
What followed was a much denser and more turbulent surge of power flowing into Pei Ze's body.
In an instant, the fusion progress on his status panel jumped, increasing by 0.01%.
Feeling the increase in his power, Pei Ze's Spirit was invigorated. But immediately after, he suddenly felt a trace of brutality and pleasure welling up from the depths of his heart.
Although the feeling was faint, Pei Ze's mind grew sharp. Without hesitation, he mobilized the Power of Rules in his Sea of Consciousness to begin cleansing his soul and eliminating the spiritual pollution.
At the same time, Pei Ze's hands did not slow in the slightest. He continuously unleashed bolts of lightning, slaughtering one devil after another.
In a space invisible to the naked eye, on the Eye of Omniscience's panel, the value representing his fusion progress was rising slowly but steadily.
After more than an hour, Pei Ze's soul fusion progress had increased by 0.24%, an amount comparable to half a year of normal cultivation.
'The Blood War is truly something else. My power is increasing so quickly,'
Pei Ze marveled inwardly.
The only problem was the heavy consumption of the Power of Rules.
The single drop he had was already about one-tenth depleted.
