After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects

Chapter 91: Progressing Through Sect Competition

  • Next Chapter

Han Yuxi’s opponent had a much lower realm than her. Being only at the early stage of the Earth Immortal realm, the outcome was already decided.

The difference between a late-stage and an early-stage Earth Immortal was far too large of a gap, so Han Yuxi was beaming with confidence. Her opponent, on the other hand, had his body scrunched up and a dark look on his face.

Even her opponent knew that he wasn’t going to win and seemed to have already given up.

Once the match officially started, Han Yuxi immediately began her attack, and with a single move, her opponent was flung off the stage without the least bit of resistance.

The winner was decided, and she stepped off the stage towards the area where the other contestants who had finished were waiting.

The competition format seemed to be one-on-one, with several matches going on all at once. The center of the stadium had several platforms that allowed dozens of matches to proceed simultaneously.

Waiting to the side, Han Yuxi started pacing around in boredom while waiting for her next match to start. The other people waiting didn’t have such leisure, and some were meditating to retain their peak power.

After a while, all the matches had finished, and it was time for the next round. The opponents were soon arranged, and the competition continued once more.

This time, Han Yuxi had a mid-stage Earth Immortal as an opponent.

Since the gap wasn’t as large as before, the opponent didn’t cower in the same way. He took Han Yuxi seriously, wanting to win.

Seeing that her opponent wasn’t giving up, Han Yuxi took the match just as seriously. When the round began, the match was still very one-sided, with Han Yuxi constantly staying on the offensive.

The match didn’t last much longer, with the mid-stage Earth Immortal ultimately being knocked off the stage.

With the win, Han Yuxi didn’t celebrate, but instead returned to the side to wait.

This continued for another three rounds before the contestants were finally down to the last eight people left.

The remaining contestants were now all late-stage Earth Immortals.

With the top eight finally chosen, a young-looking Immortal at the early stage of the Immortal Emperor realm stood at the center stage. The man had several scars on his face and short black hair.

Standing in the center, the man began making announcements.

"I congratulate you all on making it this far. You probably all know who I am considering you’ve come for this competition. I am the Immortal Emperor who inspired this competition. My name is Chao Jun."

After speaking, Chao Jun waved towards the side, and a few other people came on stage.

"These are the proud disciples of the four great sects," Chao Jun introduced them. "You will all be fighting against them, and if you manage to win a battle against them, you’ll be given a generous reward. The main reward, as you know, is the chance to join one of the four great sects."

Chao Jun began looking for reactions among the remaining eight participants, but they were all emotionless despite being offered the chance to join a great sect. Wanting to keep up the momentum, Chao Jun continued.

"I will now begin arranging the opponents for all of you at random so you don’t have to worry about fairness. Even if you lose today, you can stand proud as the finalists of the Four Sect Competition. I’ll now begin, so ready yourselves."

The eight remaining participants stood firm and waited for their opponents to be picked. Once everyone had an opponent arranged, they scattered to separate fighting platforms.

Han Yuxi did the same, and once she got onto her own platform, her opponent arrived soon after.

The opponent she faced was at the peak of the Earth Immortal realm, infinitely close to the Heaven Immortal realm. Given a slight push, breaking through to the Heaven Immortal realm would be easy for him.

The most notable detail was that this person looked like a sect young master, wearing lavish clothing and adorned with several magical treasures on his body. It appeared he held a very high position in the sect he was from.

Looking at her opponent, Han Yuxi didn’t think much of it despite the realm gap, and she readied herself all the same.

Before the match could begin, though, the man started speaking.

"Well aren’t you a beauty?" the man said as he gazed over Han Yuxi. "How about becoming my concubine rather than putting yourself through a battle with me?"

"I refuse," Han Yuxi stated adamantly. "I’ll never lower myself to that level."

"Why might that be?" the man asked in confusion. "I am Chu Feng, and I’m the son of the sect master of the Lasting Eternity Sect. You should know it’s the number one sect in the Immortal world."

"I don’t care. Just stop talking and fight."

"Nobody has said no to me before," Chu Feng said amusedly. "I’ve gained some interest in you. You’re quite beautiful and worthy of my attention. Once I beat you, I’ll take you with me back to the sect. I must have you as my concubine."

"You dare do such a thing?"

"Why wouldn’t I? Nobody dares to offend the Lasting Eternity Sect unless they have a death wish. My sect has five Immortal Emperors, with my father being at the peak of the Immortal Emperor realm. If someone dares to say anything, their only fate is death."

Upon hearing this, Han Yuxi was no longer as confident in herself. The lingering threat of five Immortal Emperors was far too great.

"What if I win?" Han Yuxi asked, lacking the same confidence as before. "Will you let me go if I win?"

"Sure," Chu Feng replied casually. "It wouldn’t be fun unless you tried your hardest, so let’s just say you’re free if you win. I’ll even increase your award to double the amount if you somehow manage to win."

"You better keep your word."

"Who do you think I am? Of course I won’t go back on my word."

"Good, then let’s begin."

"I was thinking the same. I want you as soon as possible."

Chu Feng gestured to the side for one of the competition judges to begin the round. The judge instantly followed his orders and started the match.

"I’ll let you go first," Chu Feng stated smugly. "If I attack, you won’t have even the slightest chance, and that’ll be far too boring. So go ahead, and I’ll just stand here and take it."

Since Chu Feng offered her the first move, Han Yuxi didn’t need to be asked twice and took his offer. She immediately attacked Chu Feng after pulling out an Immortal Emperor level weapon.

This weapon had been given to her by Jiang Yun, and she hadn’t used it until now. She didn’t want to owe her father anything, but the situation was now dire. The weapon she chose was a long, thin sword made extremely lightweight for agility.

Slashing down with the sword at blinding speed, Chu Feng was momentarily surprised by what he was seeing.

Chu Feng thought to himself how hard it had been to get his own father to give him an Immortal Emperor level weapon, yet the girl in front of him had one that she took out so easily.

This infuriated Chu Feng greatly, seeing someone else possess an Immortal Emperor level weapon. It provoked him into pulling out his own weapon, which was a halberd, and swinging it with full force.

The clash of the two Immortal Emperor level weapons caused massive damage despite the reinforced stage being designed to withstand attacks below Heaven Immortals.

A deep dent formed below the two as their weapons continued to clash. Due to Han Yuxi attacking first, she held a slight advantage, but soon lost it due to the power gap still remaining a large problem.

Han Yuxi’s sword slowly got pushed back until she finally had to retreat, or else she would’ve been heavily injured.

Retreating came with a cost, as Han Yuxi had her arm grazed. Blood started to flow out, but the cut soon closed since the wound was shallow.

Despite this, her original confidence was gone after the first attack failed. There would never be a more advantageous moment to win the battle again.

Even though this was the case, Han Yuxi refused to give up and continued to exchange blows with Chu Feng.

With every clash, Han Yuxi lost the exchange, draining massive amounts of energy and taking several more grazes from the halberd.

Despite the constant barrage of attacks, Chu Feng remained calm and collected, with energy to spare. The realm gap was large enough that Chu Feng didn’t need to take the situation all that seriously.

With exhaustion catching up to her, Han Yuxi began to slow down, and her attacks became less frequent.

Observing her exhaustion, Chu Feng began laughing in joy, knowing the fight was soon going to end.

"Do you have anything else up your sleeve? If not, then I’ll end this farce right now."
