Chapter 764: 1 Reward Is Enough

Lily was talking with Cyrandel, a radiant smile on her face, when she suddenly sensed Leo’s distressed mind.

She immediately snapped her head toward the forest in his direction.

"What happened, Lily?" Cyrandel asked calmly. Although she had an idea of what had happened, she wanted to confirm it directly with Lily for much-needed information.

"Someone... has attacked Leo!" Lily exclaimed.

With that, she stood up and almost sprinted toward the forest, but Cyrandel caught her by the shoulder.

"Don’t worry, it’s Aurex and Louis. You know about them, right?"

"The Dragon Emperor and Human Emperor..." Lily’s eyes widened as she and the others slowly made their way toward the location.

Along the way, Cyrandel glanced at Niri curiously.

This little disaster almost exposed me... She sighed in relief.

During their conversation, or what she called their ’bonding’ moment, Niri kept insisting that Cyrandel was like a mother to Lily and a great-grandmother to Miho.

Thankfully, Niri was still too young to tell the difference between the ’connection’ she felt and an actual blood connection. Cyrandel easily made up an excuse about their similar talents and saved the day.

It’s too early to tell them... but this also confirms one thing.

Cyrandel was now almost certain that Leo had actually managed to keep the treasure that had birthed Niri intact. After all, Niri couldn’t have sensed their blood connection without such a high-category bloodline.

If the treasure had been destroyed, Niri would have suffered a backlash, resulting in Bloodline Regression—a 99.999999% canon event for almost all wild Dryads. That’s why wild Dryads were normally seen with Super Bloodlines at a minimum.

Cyrandel even noticed Miho.

Another descendant with enough blood concentration to qualify as my great-granddaughter?

By then, they had already reached the location and stood frozen at the sight of Leo facing the 2 hulking giants.

At that moment, Aurex seemed to be finishing up his portion of the rewards. As it turned out, Aurex only needed to provide 1 kind of reward to fulfil all the requirements...

And it was his Sun-Flame Dragon Blood Essence.

"Originally, my diluted and undiluted Blood Essence would have been enough of a reward to help all your draconic beasts and spirits improve their bloodlines and have the power of the sun ingrained into their blood—including you."

"But I’m actually motivated to give you another reward after seeing that you have such a wonderful motherly figure with you."

Aurex said this as he looked at Ashira. He had already sensed her [Cradle of Cinders] talent.

"You actually managed to tame 2 of the most formidable types of Wyverns..."

When Aurex looked at Agnivar and Ashira, they both flinched under the formidable pressure—even though Aurex had suppressed himself enough to appear no different from a giant, golden-horned human.

"Anyways, here."

Aurex extended his arm, and a round, oval object—no more than a foot long—appeared in his palm. It was covered in dense black-and-gold scales.

Leo’s eyes widened.

Sun-Flame Dragon Egg - Royal Bloodline [Current Status: Dormant]

"This was birthed by my late wife centuries ago, when I was still an adolescent. She passed away due to very unfortunate circumstances that I don’t find pleasant to recall."

"Unfortunately, without a mother’s care, or perhaps due to the sudden loss of their connection, this egg has remained dormant for centuries," Aurex explained.

"I’ve tried numerous ways to save my child’s life, but it’s as if he’s angry about losing his mother. He subconsciously avoids initiating the process of being born. And I can’t even force him out of the egg because of the fatal risks involved."

"My other wives have similarly failed to incubate it successfully, so I’ll give it to you for a limited time."

Aurex took a spatial ring from his finger and placed the egg inside after reinforcing the protective magic surrounding it.

"Have your special Wyverns give incubating it a try. There’s a possibility of success because of their talents."

Aurex stepped forward and carefully placed the ring in Leo’s hand. The ring’s size then shrank dramatically to fit Leo’s finger.

"If you succeed within 100 years, you’re allowed to tame it. The reason is simple—I failed to protect my partner, his mother, and committed the unforgivable sin in my family by taking a mate when my strength wasn’t enough to protect her."

"In other words, this will be my repentance. Oh, and my Blood Essence is in that same ring."

"And yes, if there’s no result within 100 years, I’ll take it back and try other methods."

Aurex turned around but, at the last second, glanced toward Thalvyr, who had just arrived.

Thalvyr’s slit eyes contracted sharply when he met the Dragon Emperor’s gaze, and he immediately lowered his head.

His entire body was covered in cold sweat in an instant, his eyes widening and his heart rate skyrocketing as he sensed the primal danger deep within his soul. His legs even threatened to give way beneath him.

"Oh? It seems he’s very close to ascending to the next evolutionary stage. Dragonnewt, is it?" Aurex remarked.

He had the responsibility of rewarding this lizardman as well. But once again...

"Well... just let him consume a tiny portion of the diluted essence I provided. That should be enough for him to break through."

His Blood Essence really was an all-rounder, it seemed.

Aurex didn’t even wait for Leo to respond before disappearing the next second.

Although silence settled over the surroundings for a while, a huge turmoil was taking place in Thalvyr’s heart.

No way! I’m getting the essence of such an unfathomably powerful dragon?

Yes, Thalvyr had understood at a single glance that the man was a dragon—an insurmountable dragon, at that.

People of his race would become slaves to even lower draconic beings, such as drakes, just for the chance to obtain their essence. And now, he was being given this opportunity?

He looked at Leo, who held the special spatial ring containing the egg, and then at the Wyverns, who were similarly covered in cold sweat.

He immediately realised that Leo held the reins and would be the one deciding whether he received the essence.

He simply closed his eyes for a second to calm his thundering heart and steady his breathing.

Lord has already provided me with too much. I shouldn’t be too greedy.

Even he understood how much Leo had to work to obtain these kinds of rewards. There was no way Leo would simply part with them just like that.

At that moment, the next person spoke up.

Louis had been patiently waiting for Aurex to finish handing out his rewards. Now, it was his turn.
