Chapter 747: Final Clash

Last Event: Final Clash

After 6 hours, the final clash between the surviving students of both academies will begin.

When one academy’s students are completely eliminated, the surviving academy wins the competition.

Students may use everything acquired during the previous event and phases.

Following that announcement, a timer appeared.

06:00:00

05:59:59

It was 6 in the morning, meaning the fight would begin at 12 PM.

"So? Is our plan confirmed?" Uraan asked.

During this rest period, they had been forming plans to deal with the dragons, and obviously, Leo and Lily were a major part of them.

After all, they were in charge of holding back the major forces.

Leo had confidently announced that they would personally handle the top 3 dragons. The remaining lower-ranked dragons in the Mid to High 4-star range would be handled by Lily and her spirits.

Some of the dragons in the Pseudo 4-star to Low 4-star range would be handled by Leo’s beasts, Kaelion, Thalvyr, and Sylrael.

Though it was clear that Sylrael wouldn’t be able to do much beyond providing healing. Her wood element was extremely weak against fire. The same applied to Niri and Drycha.

With occasional small-scale support, they would mainly focus on staying safe and healing others.

As for the remaining students, they would handle the other dragons.

Leo had already planned to hide away the alchemists and scouts. They were nothing but lambs waiting to be slaughtered and would only serve as distractions if a dragon targeted them, forcing the others to protect them.

For this, he would send Shyra away for a few moments. She would drop them off at a safe location and then return. The only non-combatant who would remain on the battlefield was Fruder, who would be in charge of deploying the artefacts.

"Hmm... Let’s do it right now," Leo said.

Since the battle would begin right here, on the corpse of the Oreback Behemoth, it would be better to hide them before anyone tried hunting them down after the fight began.

Leo even summoned Zelut and Ashira—his lowest-ranked combatants after Kazz—and instructed them to stay beside the alchemists and scouts in case any wild beasts attacked.

Chu!

"I will do as you say, my lord," Ashira replied.

Thankfully, their footage wasn’t being broadcast live right now. Otherwise, people might have had another wave of reactions after seeing Leo tame a beast capable of speaking human language.

They were already in shock after seeing he had 2 Wyvern tames; this would be simply outrageous. Not to mention, he had already revealed inhuman numbers of tames for his age.

While Shyra went away to create some distance, the students made their final preparations.

They checked their spatial rings and weapons—which they could finally use after the beast’s death. As the effect of [Metal Manipulation] died alongside it.

The spatial rings were stuffed with various kinds of potions. Some were obviously meant for healing and mana regeneration, while many others were designed to inflict damage.

There were explosive potions that burst into violent flames upon impact.

Corrosion potions that ate away organic matter when splashed onto a target—particularly useful against humanoid dragons.

There were also corrosion potions that burned through physical substances, making them useful for eating away at a dragons scales in their beast form.

Some were even biological weapons that induced sleepiness or reduced energy circulation throughout the body.

As for the enhancement potions, they had multiple varieties that increased stamina, strength, and agility.

There were even some that increased sharpness in combat.

However, all these healing and enhancement potions had been crafted solely by Veronica.

"Leo, what kind of talent did you even recruit?" Tavian asked.

"Not even 6 months have passed since she joined the academy, and she can already create such a variety of potions? It would have been one thing if she belonged to some family, but the absence of a surname can only mean that she doesn’t come from one."

"Don’t tell me she’s a commoner?" he asked in surprise.

Having a life talent himself, he knew how difficult it was to make progress. Yet here was Veronica, a girl of supposed commoner origin who was already this talented.

"Maybe luck?" Leo replied with a shrug. He didn’t want to discuss her. She was now bound to him, and talking too much about her would only reveal his weaknesses.

Oh well... It might be that stupid amount of support Lily has been providing her, he thought.

Even though he wasn’t particularly involved in territory matters, Lily was. In fact, she was practically sponsoring Veronica’s entire alchemy career herself.

After helping Miho reach a stage where she could handle things on her own, Lily had diverted her attention to the candidate with the most potential in the territory.

Which was obviously Veronica.

She had even gone so far as to talk about her to Katherine, which resulted in Veronica getting an excellent teacher to guide her. That had allowed her to climb to the top of the Life-talent rankings.

But now that Veronica had gained exposure in the competition, somebody might already have their eyes on her.

That meant Lily’s work was done.

Hmm, her next target might be Sister Sera... Leo thought.

Right now, considering the necessary slave clause imposed on elves, even if Lily wanted to help them, she couldn’t. So she could only focus on a select few.

As a matter of fact, she might have even helped those 3 blue-haired girls if not for their terrible first impression and the underlying suspicion that they were spies.

Damn... I think... I’ve been lagging behind...?

With all the influence and capital Leo held, he could practically sponsor an entire city, yet he hadn’t even been doing that for a single individual.

Let’s think about that later...

He glanced at the timer, which was already nearing its end.

"Let’s test my newfound strength..." he said, clenching and unclenching his fist as he felt the increased strength coursing through his body.

Then, he suddenly recalled something.

’Niri! Extract the beast cores from the Ironfeather Roc and Sandworm’s corpses.’

The Roc had been hunted at the very beginning, while the Sandworm’s corpse had been stolen from the Zerathyr and Vyrmora Academies when Leo interrupted their flag capture.

’On it, papa!’ Niri responded enthusiastically.

In no time, Leo had brought out the meter-wide beast cores of both beasts.

He placed them in an extra spatial ring and handed it to Lily.

"Use these to summon their spirits. It’ll make it easier for you to handle those dragons."

"Thank you." Lily nodded and accepted the rings.

Though Leo didn’t say it aloud, Lily was also supposed to come to him whenever her mana reserves were nearly depleted so that he could replenish them.

Leo doubted that his own mana reserves would ever run empty.

Final Clash Begins!

A distant horn sounded from the opposite side of the Behemoth’s corpse, as if the dragons had blown it.

The [Beastcall Horn].

- Releases a supernatural roar that can be heard across 5 km.

- All allied beasts within range instantly receive a temporary boost to their physical abilities.
