Chapter 423: Chapter 423: Unless We Live Together (3)
"Impossible. Nadia would never be so extravagant! She always spends her money on what’s most important. She’d never do something as pointless as buying flowers! Besides, she’s left the Chapman Family now, so her expenses are much higher than before. Even though she’s staying with me for now and saving a lot on rent, she’s the type to prepare for a rainy day. Even if she had the money, she wouldn’t spend it on this!"
The chance of it being Nadia was almost zero, which was why Seraphina was so puzzled. She only knew a handful of people at school, and now she had ruled all of them out. ’Could this really just be a coincidence? It has nothing to do with anyone at school, nothing to do with Shelby Fenton, and it’s just someone who wanted to send me flowers at this exact moment?’
"Well, if you don’t know who it is, then don’t worry about it. Just think of it as a secret admirer! But seriously, I’m just as cute as you are, so how come you’re getting flowers and I’m not? It’s unfair, so unfair!"
Genevieve Churchill slapped her hand weakly on the table. "Tell me again, why are you taking a French class?! Aren’t you already fluent? Last time in Sanford, you had that whole conversation with that smug Simon guy. Isn’t it a waste of time to be studying it again? You could have taken anything else! At least pick a class with a good-looking teacher!"
"If I didn’t pick a class I’ve already mastered, how could I skip? How could I guarantee a top grade without even showing up?" Seraphina gave her a brilliant smile. "If the teacher takes attendance again, I’m leaving it to you to handle. I have to leave before the last period—club activities! I bet that peacock won’t be quiet after I ticked her off so badly earlier. This afternoon’s club meeting is going to be rough!"
"You’re such a sly fox! So many schemes just for picking a class! Go on, get out of here. That teacher’s eyesight is so bad, he probably won’t notice one or two students missing. And even if he does, he won’t know who it was! Just make sure you don’t get bullied later! Your club is full of rich kids, and they’re probably all in cahoots with that peacock! Be careful you don’t get ganged up on! If you’re really outmatched, text me immediately, and I promise I’ll rush in as backup!"
Genevieve Churchill put on her tough-girl act again. Anyone who didn’t know better would think this was a gang war! Seraphina patted her on the shoulder. "Relax. Who do you think I am? I wouldn’t even bat an eye at ten Shelby Fentons! I’m just going to a club meeting; it’s not as serious as you’re making it out to be. If Shelby Fenton still hasn’t learned her lesson, I’ll just pluck all those peacock feathers off her myself. We’ll see how she shows off then!"
"You’re the ruthless one!" Genevieve wasn’t worried anymore. Even if everyone in the club was one of Shelby Fenton’s cronies, Seraphina wouldn’t let them walk all over her. The person who could actually get one over on Seraphina had yet to be born!
The Stock Trading Club’s meeting room was as extravagant as its name suggested. It was the most luxurious room in the entire School of Economics and Management—no, it was probably the most luxurious conference room in the entire university. How luxurious? Let’s just say it was on par with a state reception hall for foreign dignitaries. But that was no surprise. Most of the Stock Trading Club’s members came from wealthy families; they were either heirs to established fortunes or the children of the newly rich. They were used to such settings, so it was nothing special to them.
But for the students from merely well-off or middle-class families, the sheer luxury of the place was utterly shocking, leaving them speechless. ’The difference between people is just terrifying!’ However, no matter how shocked they were, they all tacitly concealed their awe. They had gotten into the club by an exception as it was. If the other members saw such an unsophisticated side of them, how could they possibly survive in the club going forward?
