Chapter 414: Chapter 414: This Girl Is Actually Bisexual (2)

"Fiona Chapman, you won this round! But you’re only relying on your parents’ favor. I hope you can keep on winning forever! I’m very much looking forward to the day we compete in the business world! I hope you still have someone protecting you then! Of course, that’s only if you inherit The Chapman Group first. Otherwise, you won’t even get the chance to compete with me!"

Fiona Chapman’s expression turned cold. Noelle Patterson’s eyes narrowed. Justin Chapman remained expressionless. With a mixture of complex emotions, the three of them watched as Seraphina Sterling walked out of sight.

The autumn evening breeze was cool and refreshing. Nadia Chapman pulled her suitcase and hurried away from the Chapman residence—the place that had been her prison for over twenty years. She left without a hint of hesitation, her resolve unshakable. She believed that away from here, she would be happier, more joyful. From this day forward, she was no longer Nadia of the Chapman Family. She was just Nadia, her own person.

However, she had been so bold in her departure that she hadn’t even found a place to live yet! ’Should I stay at the school dorms?’ Nadia Chapman shook her head, dismissing the idea. ’If I show up at school in this state, there’s no telling what kind of rumors might start spreading. That would be incredibly damaging to both Keystone Technologies and Apex Collections & Investment Corporation! Seraphina has already helped me so much; I can’t let my personal problems affect the company! She went to such great lengths and handled everything so discreetly. Whether as her employee or her friend, I can’t cause her any more trouble!’

’If only I’d gotten my driver’s license sooner,’ she thought. ’To help me better play the part of a high-profile general manager, Seraphina even got me a flashy sports car. But since I don’t dare drive without a license, it’s just been sitting in the garage at The Retreat. What a total waste!’ The traffic in Aethelgard was an absolute nightmare. Even though the evening rush hour had passed, the roads were still packed. After the sixth taxi refused to stop for her, her eyes were practically shooting flames.

’Damn it all! Do taxi drivers discriminate against people with luggage now? It’s not like I can’t pay the fare! What is wrong with the world? Even the cabbies are picking on me!’ The anger surged within her. In a huff, Nadia Chapman plunked herself down on the curb and refused to move another inch.

A black Bentley pulled to a stop at a crossroad. Martin Quinn had just concluded an incredibly intense negotiation for a multinational partnership. The deal would bring his company enormous profits—so enormous, in fact, that The Quinn Group could survive for three years with no new business or income and still not go under. Yet at this moment, gazing out at the dazzling neon lights and the hurried, indifferent pedestrians, a profound sense of exhaustion and helplessness washed over him. His heart ached with an empty feeling. Work had become mere routine. He had no goal in life, no idea what he was even striving for.

This feeling wasn’t entirely new, but it had become particularly acute recently. His life was just too bland, too monotonous; it was as tasteless as plain water, painted in a single, dull color.

Just then, an expressive face caught his eye. Her eyebrows were knitted together, her nose was twitching, and her lips were pursed in a pout. Her bright eyes blazed with anger. He had no idea who had upset her, but she was clearly in a terrible mood.

But Martin Quinn actually laughed—not a faint, polite smile, but a real, audible laugh. ’Looks like Nadia Chapman and I are really fated to meet,’ he thought. ’To run into each other just waiting at a red light... There’s really no explaining this kind of connection! And it always happens right when I’m feeling how dull life is. If I don’t go over and say hello, I’d really be wasting this gift from destiny!’

"Leo, turn us around. Take a right."
